Man, I've never seen anyone who can play both guitar parts to "Acrobat" on the same guitar at the same time. That's incredible! I'm nearly sure that higher part is dubbed in on the original.
I literally come back to this video on a regular basis for this sole reason. I just realized tho it’s because he had the Guitar in drop C sharp as opposed to C sharp standard like the original. So it’s easier to play the octaves. Still very cool and impressive. I love phil
Yeah I learned how to play both parts to the song by watching his hands in this video, it's actually how I discovered the song He started playing the riff and I thought "Fuck me that is fuuuuuuucking sick" So happy and grateful to Phil x whenever I play thos riff And I think you're right it sounds like an over dub in the studio track
was this in 2012? Really? man how times flies. I always loved Phill, and sometimes, a guy like me just want to listen to Phill play an awesome Les Paul. oh and...''sounds like a 45 played at 33...'' the internet thinks:....crikets....cricket sounds....crickets sound.... like 4% of the audience has an idea of what Phill is talking about. Records kids!...Records!... Love ya Phill, hope all is well.
This guy is amazing. It's amazing how well he plays. He kids a lot and you might not think he's gonna break into songs like he does, but when he does I'm impressed. How about you?
This is the second version with the wider headstock, the first model in 68 had the normal Les Paul shape but shallower headstock angle. this one has that too, gotta say it sounds sweet.
yo man, you gotta remember when we shoot a vid, we shoot 8-10 in a day. that means vids for 8-10 weeks meaning nothing's going to change in 8-10 weeks so have a little patience. also.... why we can't turn up my lavalier mic when i'm singing is 'cause the ER was so loud, it got recorded onto that mic so when my voice got turned up so did the not so pleasant lavalier recording of the ER 4 feet away. all this will be resolved for the next batch probably in 4 weeks. thanks for all the comments.
Thank you Phil, for making my day....again. No matter how shyte things go at work, whenever I watch one of your videos I'm back on track and ready to rock! Greetings from SA.
First: This guitar sounds just amazing, I'm not a fan of P-90s, but these sound awesome Second: Every time I watch one of Phils videos I get a huge urge for playing, it's just that his energy and playing is really inspiring. And now I find myself in a dilemma, study for tests or rock out? I think I'll go with the second :D
Phil, I get into a great mood listening to you and your crazy shit. It's dialed in. You rocked that gold top in drop C. Never seice to amaze me with your riffs and selection of songs. Take care until next time
Those that pick up a guitar and try to copy Phil playing Sabbath 'National Acrobat' will realise the trickiness of the unequal 2-guitar-part-harmony-interval-spacing - Top-Phil-X-Respect! :D
I love you're videos and adore Phil watched for over a year now, but i miss the old camera angle i got so use to i lol can we have it back pleasseee rock on guys
i just noticed it too, the other angle is better, you get to see more, it makes phil look cooler as you can see him properly rockin out, instead of just like seein the guitar and his face lol, and then theres the way the light catches the guitar, it was so much better :)
In 1980, I purchased one of these. 1 piece mahogany back, chunky 1 piece mahogany neck. The finish on the face had been removed and left natural. The saddles were nylon. The machines had been swapped out for an old set of grovers. It was my first les paul. I paid the full asking price of $250.00. The only part of it that I still have is the lightweight tailpiece, that I now have on my 1973 goldtop deluxe.
Best sounding Fretted Americana demo to date! The tone is so fat, yet it's still very crunchy. Loving the tunes too! Picked up my guitar and started playing some Sabbath myself.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. I've seen it on the Fretted Americana website. A really crazy piece of history! They definitely SHOULD do a video of that.
Simply the best Phil X Video Yet! Love the Sabbath and the Van Halen! I now have a new love tor the drop C Sharp! Keep rockin' Phil! Your the bestest!:)
PD: could be really cool if when phil plays a song you put the title and the performer in the description, in that way you won't get so many answer for the name of the songs
9:00 the sustain of those harmonics really tell a lot about the quality of this guitar... remembering there are not humbucking pickups, it tells like even more.
I love this man’s guitar playing and vibe

"lets use it before it dies", lol, .... Phil, guitar & p-90 Rock!. ..... timeless
I can really appreciate Phil's ability to sing and play Unchained.

yeah what was he talking about there? :D 45 played at 3?
oh he's talking about records, never mind!
Heh heh, 2024 here…😉
This guy is amazing. It's amazing how well he plays. He kids a lot and you might not think he's gonna break into songs like he does, but when he does I'm impressed. How about you?
P90's! What cleans! what growl! what versatility! Why aren't they more popular than standard singles and humbuckers? Hail a P90 revolution!

P-90's don't get enough love
Miss you so much 💔🙁🙁🙁💔😜
The perfect way to start the Weekend? Watching Phil X! Awesome every week
You Phil. Loved the Guess Who riffin. I remember learning that stuff in the basement back in 1973 along with Nashville Sneakers.
This was how i get to know about Phil X back in those days still a fan
Hes one of the most enterteining guys ever and a beast of guitar player
When I'm 40 I want to enjoy life just like this guy: Like a 18 yrs old guy with a new guitar.
First: This guitar sounds just amazing, I'm not a fan of P-90s, but these sound awesome
Second: Every time I watch one of Phils videos I get a huge urge for playing, it's just that his energy and playing is really inspiring.

Greatest Phil X vid in a long time. Dig that heavy tone from the Les Paul and the Evil Robot.
Phil, I get into a great mood listening to you and your crazy shit. It's dialed in. You rocked that gold top in drop C. Never seice to amaze me with your riffs and selection of songs. Take care until next time

If you're asking about what he plays around the 5 minute mark it's "A national acrobat" by Black Sabbath.
The Sabbath riff sounds so good. Those p90's truly rock!!
Congrats on 25 MILLION VIEWS!
Dude, those P-90s are hot!!
Amazing sound
i just noticed it too, the other angle is better, you get to see more, it makes phil look cooler as you can see him properly rockin out, instead of just like seein the guitar and his face lol, and then theres the way the light catches the guitar, it was so much better :)
The best lp sound Ive ever heard

his tone... i want it.. i want it now!!!!
This is probably my favourite phil X video together with the Gretsch acoustic video!
Gosh. He nailed that EVH tone.

+telecasterbear why'd you sell it?
+GreekGuru74 I was paying off bills and getting ready to buy our first house. the house is now paid for, and I have a very nice 73 gold top.
Neon Knights!!!! I figured the lyrics somehow through the awesome tone :D hahaha
Best sounding Fretted Americana demo to date!
The tone is so fat, yet it's still very crunchy.
Loving the tunes too! Picked up my guitar and started playing some Sabbath myself.

This was the best review yet! That les sounds killer! Phil is the best!

Hey Fretted Americana, can you please do the Billy Bo and some ZZ Top? Thanks anyway for the videos.
7:37 Van Halen - Unchained
Drop c# is the tune I use for most of my songs... and I´m happy phil plays it :D
Oh yeah, I forgot about that one. I've seen it on the Fretted Americana website. A really crazy piece of history! They definitely SHOULD do a video of that.
These days I tend to listen to Sabbath less than I used to because I get my fill with these videos
aww man i wanted to join phil at camp rock but i'm to old. this guitar is so HAM
WOOH. i am so ready for that.
That Billy-Bo is still peeking out at us... :D

@rlowe97 The deluxe started in 69 the p90 standard was stopped in 70 and in 71 Gibson released a 54 reissue called the standard 58
Phil, you make my day better, thanks, that Neon Knights was *bark* perfect!

thanks for the Neon Knights moment! I needed that!
Do some more basses! I'd be down for that!
When he went to the Evil Robot, I dropped my phone and had to catch my breath! No lie! NEED THAT TONE! O>O
Nicest les paul I have ever heard.
Phil is playing the Hot Water Heater blues!
I know but soon or later they're going to review all the vintage guitars in this world!!!
I saw some videos that they were not vintage guitars lately.
9:00 the sustain of those harmonics really tell a lot about the quality of this guitar... remembering there are not humbucking pickups, it tells like even more.
Effin awesome rendition of National Acrobat!
hey phill next time you show a guitar can you slow down that awsome swamp riff at like 2 and a half minuites thanks. love these videos
