Sad Songs (Say So Much) (Elton John - Live In Columbia - 9/13/1988)

I wouldn't usually be a huge fan of Sad Songs (Say So Much) from this era as the extended introductions and Elton thrashing his voice into the ground isn't quite my cup of tea. The early 88 versions, however, are a different kettle of fish as Elton explores his way into finding an introduction that reaches its end product by the following year. The vocal performance here is fantastic, with Elton delivering it close to the record and without the growling that wouldn't be far away. This is dedicated to ‪@GregsynthWizard‬ as he loves this era!
