- Elton John live in Earls Court, London on the 13th of May 1993. I fell in love with this gig and it's probably my favorite from this period. It's in a great quality, but not so great of a soundboard recording, however, it doens't matter at all! The concert contains a great setlist with cover songs of Queen (The Show Must Go On) and The Rolling Stones (Jumping Jack Flash). Furthermore it contains some rarely performed songs like Come Down In Time, played with the band which is very unusual, Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy, and The Last Song. There's also some really great versions of the songs. The very funky intro to Philadelphia Freedom, fantastic version of Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters part 2, great intro to Bennie And The Jets, and a fantastic duet between Elton and the choir during Sad Songs (Say So Much) where we also get to hear some of the lowest tones Elton can sing.
Elton is in pretty good vocal shape at this gig and it is the last year where Elton would play the Roland RD-1000 before switching over to the Yamaga disklavier which he still uses.
-Enjoy!
P.S. The picture is actually from 1992 during rehearsals for the the tribute concert to Freddie Murcury!
Does anybody else here find Elton's deep voice and register *so hot!!!?* Damn!!!!
One of the ladies hits an G6! Amazing! one of my favorite intros to this song!
I wish I could have been there to "watch his right hand go!" lol
Elton having his great gig in the sky moment with the backing singers
conrad powers better than gig in sky
This is an absolutely sensational performance of Sad Songs. The entire concert is amazing!
HOLY SMOKES!!!! This is serious the BEST version of "Sad Songs" I have ever heard!!!!
you are awesome EltonJohnGigs. I have listened to countless of your posts. Elton is the epitome of a true musician. i had the pleasure of being selected by one of his staffers to have front row tickets for one of his concerts and got to have Elton sign my shirt. It was one of the biggest thrills of my life. This concert reminds me of that day!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us all to enjoy, absolutley love this, 04:29am in bed with earphone in, pure love it ❤ thankyou thankyou thankyou
This is awesome, one of the best (if not the best) versions of Sad Songs ever. Elton's lower range is so much clearer than is when he screams some higher notes, nice to hear some more of it!
I dreamt of this video for 20 years now , and you bring it to us ! Thank you very very much from France
Am I the only one who really likes the Roland, at least at this gig?
The RD1000 is a peice of history. Its a great instrument and has a very unique sound to it wish i could find one for sale lol
Definitely my favorite version of the song!I'm so damn upset though that I can't watch it!
The second backing singer has an AMAZING voice ! Love it ! 2:35 thrilling ascending voice! 😲🤩
Marlena Jeter) but my favorite is Natalie Jackson (the third girl) she is the most charismatic!

Thanks for posting this! I've seen Elton live from 1995-to present and my only regret was not seeing him in his prime (1992-1994) after he sobered up! He had new vigor and energy in these live performances. This is by far the best ever version of Sad Songs-EVER!
Sir Elton John is the best artist in the hole Word!
Thank you so much EltonJohnGigs for uploading these videos. I remember listening to this performance and recording it live from Radio 1 back in 1993. I must have pretty much worn those tapes out from repeated listening and thought that I had lost this wonderful recording forever. This is the song that stands out for me, though. Marlena Jeter's voice still makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Beautiful :-)
fantastic
@oldtealady Thank you very much! It's my pleasure to share my collection with other fans. I'm glad you enjoy my videos!
That soprano has the sickest voice I've ever heard. She sounds similar to Chrisina Aguilera just with a higher range.
That note at 6:11
Nice collection!
cool thx for the video!
He's delicious!
You're calling Charlie's drumming horrible? Beats Moffet's and Jack Bruno's drumming by miles.
Cool! But you can skip the first 7 min
Not even MJ would attempt something like this live....he lip synced most of his shows. Amazing!
Would be the best version ever save for the horrible drumming.
