You’re only missing the bad ass sound of the Coyote V8 but the trade off is the difference in MPG and frequency and expense of gas. You can t best the Ecoboost for the same style and look but a much better price.
I was dead set on getting a 2015-2018 GT, but now I’m debating whether I should get the 2024 Ecoboost instead in the same price range. The interior is amazing even for base models.
The GT is worth it for the sound of the V8 alone imo. 18-22mpg isn't amazing, but the 5.0 is still a beast and has tons of room if you ever want to add more power to it. The ecoboost is a great option don't get me wrong, especially if you like the 2024 styling over the 2015-2023. GT has more top end power, so after the 0-60mph it will be noticeably faster than the ecoboost. If you do only city driving then I'd pick the ecoboost. If you need to pass people on the highway or just want some top end power then the GT is the way to go
I think it runs as good as our 2.7L Edge ST a new 2022. It has a 7 speed with AWD , which considering the Edge ST weighs 1000 lbs more and a 7 speed automatic. The Edge 2.7 V6 twin turbo makes 335 at the wheel and 385 ft lbs at the wheel and the Mustang is 315 hp at the rear wheels and 350 at the rear wheels with a 10 speed both automatic with redlines at 6000, the cars in traffic are perfect. And they both really handle the Edge ST is a beast, I wish that I could tune it, put K&N filters and a catch can to prevent the coking up. I would really like to turn the boost up and add port injection to give it more fuel. 4.25 0-60 as is with Phillips 66 93. Great handling and braking.
Hey Will. Are you going to do a review of the 2024 Mustang Ecoboost with the Performance Package? I'd be very interested in seeing if the extra $$$ is substantiated to spec it out that way over the base model. Great reviews, keep 'em coming! Cheers.
I think it's ridiculous that people who call themselves "enthusiasts" are more concerned about the sound of a car than the fact that there is no longer a manual transmission available.
What are you talking about. We care about both. I wont buy this car just because there isn't a manual or at the very least a manual mode without paying for the top spec. You aren't reading enough comments because there are plenty.
From the 2022 mustang ecoboost(my model) owners manual: "For best overall vehicle and engine performance, premium fuel with an octane rating of 91 or higher is recommended. The performance gained by using premium fuel is most noticeable in hot weather as well as other conditions, for example when towing a trailer. See Towing. Do not be concerned if the engine sometimes knocks lightly. However, if the engine knocks heavily while using fuel with the recommended octane rating, contact an authorized dealer to prevent any engine damage." Yeah, 87 is a no go. Old speedo went to 160, now its 140. It doesn't matter a they are governed to about 121 anyway. My 2022 ecoboost will likely be my last mustang (number 4). It's just not competitive for the price. For 3-4k more, you can get a Elantra N which has way more standard features, nicer tech, much nicer build quality, and a better warranty(with included maintenance), and is substantially faster.

My 1988 Ford Mustang GT's speedometer only went to 85 mph, not 140 mph. Paddle shifters come with the performance pack only on the 2024 Ecoboost Mustang.
Every time I look at this 2024 I cannot get past the folded paper styling and the totally ruined Kia style instrument panel. All they did was slap two oversized iPads on a cut out shelf and called it a day rather than actually design a sporty looking instrument binnacle. The 2023 Mustang remains a far better looking car both inside and out.
Hi Will! Taking my Camaro hat off for a minute (lol) I think the exterior looks pretty good. The interior though is another story. Those screens look awful. Why can’t some of the manufacturers find a good way to integrate these into the dash?? I think they’re just distracting not to mention no physical buttons for HVAC. That’s a big ding for me. Hope u are feeling better man!
Glad the retro instruments doesn't have the speedo stopping at 85. I really figured a manual would have been an option. Overall, really nice. I like the old split spoke stock wheels from 18 yrs ago better than these though.
The lack of a manual transmission is understandable, but it’s the main reason I won’t part with my 2018 ecoboost. A mild tune and other upgrades make this car a blast to drive. Yes, it’s my daily driver. Stop and go traffic is a pain, but rare enough that I put up with it to feel more connected to the car.
Engine sounds tight and torquey. Great sound to it, too. Info screens look nice, but a little out of place inside. Don't know exactly why I feel that way. Just a lot of regular Mustang dash surrounded by a couple newer flat screens? Great review, Will. Doing a great job reviewing the 2024 EcoBoost in terms I can understand and appreciate.
I don’t know how car and driver got 4.5 and I agree with you that a 5 flat is more realistic and still damn good. But for sure, overall your reviews get better and better and are professionally done. Nice job!
Car and Driver had the performance pack on their Eco boost Mustang. 3.55 rear end instead of the 3:15 of the base car. 19 inch wheels, stiffer suspension.
Nice review Will. C'mon Ford, for once offer a sunroof like every other manufacturer. Otherwise a modestly optioned Ecoboost would be quite tempting. The Ecoboost exhaust sounds surprisingly goods and this trim level looks tasteful w/out being too 'look at me GT'. Maybe just a beefier wheel/tire upgrade away from perfect from the outside.
Where would your retracted sunroof panel go? There isn't enough roof to retract into. Additionally, the car has limited head room so even if there was enough roof behind the sunroof, the loss in head room would be unacceptable. Camaros don't have sunroofs for the same reason.
@@larrysmith6797 Appreciate your thoughts. Camaros DO have optional $900 sunroof and look especially sharp when retracted up & out. Just like most other sporty makes, you sacrifice a bit of head room. Engineering/design isn't the problem, its Ford incorrectly thinking people who want a moonroof will spend more $$$ and buy their convertible that becomes a loud, shaky, rattling, miserable experience by 50K miles.
Looks like Ford wants us to buy the convertible instead offering a sunroof ;-). I had a gen S 550 rental convertible with (unusual high) 48 k mileage. No problems with the roof. Will see how my personal convertible Eco will last. I am only at 17000 miles ;-)
So basically 2 questions: - can children sits in the rear? - can isofix car seat go in the rear (I have a 3yr girl) - how much space there's in the trunk in terms of luggage? I mean, 2 big luggage can fit in?
I traded my bronco sport for this model and wouldn’t advise the spacing in the back. My opinion is it’s a VERY tight fit. Trunk is a decent size but it’s just me and I don’t have to necessarily worry about the comfort of others. It’s worth stopping by a dealership and taking a look for fair judgement but as someone that just brought one, I advised to proceed with caution pertaining to space in rear/trunk :)
I used to own a 2017 mustang ecoboost when I was 16 and I loved it. It had 310 hp and was a great starter car. I'm a little sad that they made this new mustang with only 5 more horsepower because I'm sure they can get more power out of this engine.

they finally did mustang ecoboost right i can see even without active exhausts it is way louder and the performance is very nice with the performance it has now i prolly wouldnt even have had to get the access port tune to hit 160 with performance spark plugs roush airintake and engine crank case to get a nice 4.5 ish 0 to 60 but they shocked me with base seat all manual lol but the quality and screens more than make up for it and they did great finally putting a spare tire in these mfs and i will forever love eco boost but its time for v8 for me crazy because the high performance eco made like 325 hp yet somehow with less horses they made this thing go 4.5 is amazing if it had same mods as mine does now i can easily see this thing going 3.9 0 to 60 only 1k in mods but nice review good stuff
To be honest, the EcoBoost isn’t a real Mustang due to the lack of a V8. In my opinion, it would be better suited as a pace car in racing or maybe even a company car to get from A to B due to its compact size and small engine. Also, a 4-door Mustang is reportedly in development. The 4-door EcoBoost would be the best option for taxi fleets and now you’re probably wondering why choose the Mustang for taxi fleets. It’s because it would be the only American non-luxury RWD sedan with a gas engine in production and taxis have been like that for decades. The Charger wasn’t a popular taxi option because the smallest engine was a V6 but the EcoBoost is an I4. So when a certain kind of vehicle is dying out, it’s too easy to pay extra attention to what’s still in production or what’s in development in hopes of them returning like in the old days. Finally, a 4-door GT would be the best option for police fleets due to, again, the fact that it’ll be the only American RWD non-luxury sedan with a gas engine.
Manual seats are better, people who dont realize that are not really car guys....disliking the video...manual seats are much easier, quicker, and over a wider range of positions...plus they weigh less
It shows your lack of knowledge if you consider any part of the Mustang as anything close to Camaro. This back end was literally designed out the 1971 fastback so I'm not sure as to why people keep saying that it looks like a Camaro other than the fact that Camaro copied Ford. So please quit saying it looks anything like in Camaro cuz it doesn't.
It's not even close to being "all new". 18% new tops. And God, they could have gotten rid of the super cheap wheels. My ex had the same exact wheels on her 2016 Ecoboost Mustang.
Why would Ford model the Mustang after their failing competition, they modeled it after the refreshed Ford GT obviously. I love the Camaro but i acknowledge the Camaro is a failure because of GM, they cheap out on everything, everytime.

Nevertheless: He expressed his dislike very carefully 😂. Let's enjoy the S550s as long as they can drive. And I agree with your opinion. It looks better. The inside is a matter of taste. I appreciate the retro look somehow, but it is not modern - agreed.
@@thomask0043 I see, thank you for your reply
Didn't car and driver hit such a quick 0-60 in the high performance package?
they finally did mustang ecoboost right i can see even without active exhausts it is way louder and the performance is very nice with the performance it has now i prolly wouldnt even have had to get the access port tune to hit 160 with performance spark plugs roush airintake and engine crank case to get a nice 4.5 ish 0 to 60 but they shocked me with base seat all manual lol but the quality and screens more than make up for it and they did great finally putting a spare tire in these mfs and i will forever love eco boost but its time for v8 for me crazy because the high performance eco made like 325 hp yet somehow with less horses they made this thing go 4.5 is amazing if it had same mods as mine does now i can easily see this thing going 3.9 0 to 60 only 1k in mods but nice review good stuff
"Right"? No M/T is not "right" 🙄
This goes to show you to always get the premium package anything less it’s
not worth it 😆laminated the window sticker lol
Is the 201a package worth it?
And to everyone buy what you like and can afford dot buy a dark horse premium if you can’t afford it just cause you like it
I’d rather be able to put in better sounding aftermarket stereo than to have have them ugly screens. The interior looks no better than the S550.
These wheelook bad standard should be 19"at this price
Man those stuck on tablets are terrible looking 😂
🎈 tires
Never feels right for a Mustang to have Eco boost!?
It doesn’t feel right for someone to buy a 5.0 out of there means. Just to impress other men.
Those two dashboard screens….. 😬😬😬
Still sounds like a popcorn cooker lol
Sorry WTF, the hood struts are not hydraulic. They are pneumatic.
Top speed is definitely lack luster but I’m glad because my 2014 charger 5.7 will still technically be faster because of that
Manual seats are better, people who dont realize that are not really car guys....disliking the video...manual seats are much easier, quicker, and over a wider range of positions...plus they weigh less
No hat❤❤❤❤❤
It’s crazy fast but it still needs a manual
Needs a manual
No to a 4 cylinder . $30,920 for a 5.0 ,sign me up
as a GT owner id never by this, but for 32 k fun daily driver its a no brainer
Would you consider buying English lessons?
How many GT lovers ever tried the Ecoboost? I suspect there were not many 😂
Man, don't be jealous how Ford made a perfect car -EcoBeast
It shows your lack of knowledge if you consider any part of the Mustang as anything close to Camaro. This back end was literally designed out the 1971 fastback so I'm not sure as to why people keep saying that it looks like a Camaro other than the fact that Camaro copied Ford. So please quit saying it looks anything like in Camaro cuz it doesn't.
People keep spreading that stupid opinion lol ..now people are cashing in on calling it a Camaro design lol....
Eco boom?! Nah....🤨
Nice car. Horrific dashboard.
Im sorry my guy , its not a ground up new car, FORD THEMSELVES said so 🤣🤦♂️ this is S550 chassis lmfao. Lying doesn't get you more views lmao
On the streets you’re going to be closer to 5.5-6.0 seconds to 60. You’ll lose to V8s and any Tesla.
They forgot to put the engine cover 💀
it's for weight saving ... that or they are cheap these days lol
It's not even close to being "all new". 18% new tops.
And God, they could have gotten rid of the super cheap wheels. My ex had the same exact wheels on her 2016 Ecoboost Mustang.
Umm you can change them no need to complain
No manual, no care
It's a nice car for the money but I hear that ecoboost engine is garbage
Nah, they're good, reliable engines.
Seems great to me
Any engine is garbage if you don't care about it.
Why would Ford model the Mustang after their failing competition, they modeled it after the refreshed Ford GT obviously. I love the Camaro but i acknowledge the Camaro is a failure because of GM, they cheap out on everything, everytime.
