That's awesome!! Did you do it the way in my video? Or did you set them in water or water wrapped paper towels? I've been looking into different ways and seeing which works the best
What soil do u recommend??? I got a cutting off of a 160 year-old tree from The property that I grew up on as a child. Really don’t want to screw this up!
Thanks they recently cut a huge tree near my home and now the birds have no were to sleep at night , i found a similar tree a bit far so ill use this method and hopefully grow a huge tree ! 🙂
@@saadmahimi7537 I'm sorry to hear that, what I would suggest is putting them in a greenhouse type situation in a plastic bag or something kinda similar.
1. Your grandkids will be able to enjoy the tree. 2. Birds are adaptable and can't determine if the tree was cut down or blown down by a storm. They lack the power of reason. They'll be ok.
Hey Dan, If you have time, it would be great to see an update about the trees and bushes you had in the planter shown near the end of this video. Thanks!
You need Olivia's cloning gel or clone x and a cube in a solid cup do not get a knock off powder or other gel. Put em under grow lights just like you would tomatoes or cannabis put a clear solid lid on top to keep leaves humid until your plant is almost root bound before transplanting put a paper towel over top of your humidity cup spray daily
Thank you for your response. 😊 However, I was wondering if you have the results available. The reason being, I am interested in making a bonsai for a friend and would like to see if this technique will work. By the way, I really enjoyed watching the video.
Great video and advice, I took some cuttings from a Japanese Maple on 30th March and have just made a new video about their progress. Hopefully they'll survive the true test of winter. We will see how many of them wake up in the coming spring. Your plants look great :)
yeah, I guarantee none of these worked. Not much of a tutorial more of a video of him just cutting off branches and sticking them in dirt. If anyone wants to do this, cut a small branch of new growth all the way at its base with some of the knot still attached, this is where the growth cells are. Also using a little bit of growth hormone will help.
With the water method, you just let it sit in the water? And with the soil method, how often do you water it? Or do you water when the soil isn’t damp?
Water method just put in cup of water until you see root growth then move to soil. With the soil method I just water the soil like any other plant. If it looks dry, add a some water..... Hope that helps!

Do you have any update videos on these trees? I’m particularly interested in the maples myself. There are a few trees near me I’d like to try this with in the spring. Especially if it works.
Only 1 remains. I can’t do a video yet as leaves have Fallen off. In spring I plan do the follow up video. I hope to answer some questions about how much water and such….
I would assume so…. But I do not know for sure. I would suggest giving it a shot. Keep them really wet for about a week or so until til you see it sprout

I wish I knew for sure. Try a few. A couple in water. A couple I water soaked paper towel and a couple in water soak dirt. The entire art to this is guess and check and see which way you get root growth. Best of luck!
Ugh darn! I wish I had all the answers. I did the same with a handful of cut off this year and only one kicked out a root. I wondered if mine dies because of salt from water softener or other imbalances in the water. So far my experience has been guess and check. Natural rain water seems to be the best option. Anyway good luck!
@@Mrdimorphodon Last year I tried to grow a tree from a new summer branch, but it didnt work - I gave my sister about 7 of them, and it also didnt work. Apparently 1 in 20 might work- according to all the googling at the time! So right now, these summer sprigs are growing on the tree outside my house - I'm gonna take more than 10 each for my sister and I - propagate first in water, then plant them to see if ONE will survive!
And where you cut it. Start with basil then work your way up. Basil will grow roots anywhere you cut it, but for it to clone the plant you have to cut near a node
Yes, but is not that easy as you said. I have two pieces in water for two months and no Roots. The leaves are alive but no way to have roots yet after two months. I will like your cuttings with roots after few days like you said. Do not try to kidding the people. You know that is not right.
I grown a ginkgo tree form a cutting in 1996, now is almost 12 feet tall, it works .

It's nearly October now, can I start a branch growth now in the house and have ready for the spring?
How often should i water it when i cut off branch then put into dirt?

Do you have to keep the soil moist or just water when dry? Thanks for this info!

@@DansShopSD okay 👍, thank you!
Does it work with a bigger cutting like 2 cm wide
Do I only need to peel the wood off one side of the branch or off both sides, like around the branch?
I have tried both ways It works better if you scrap all around the bottom of the branch.
Super cool, thanks!
Is there a certain time of year to do this?

can you keep them in cold storage for a time before planting?
