The fact that Hero heard music makes me believe she was there with sunny for a brief moment since sunny was clearly standing away from the piano to play it
Question is, why did Mari decide to pop up only when Sunny started to go outside? It could be easily tied together with Sunny just starting to recover the truth. In terms of Hero, who was in a crisis thanks to... Mari, he pretty much got only a auditory hallucination to go off of. It seems odd for Mari to dissappear only when Hero waltzes in.

hero is such an underrated character... i've even seen people call him boring. his grief and pain over thinking for 4 years that he just let the person he loved most feel like she had no other options than to end her own life is arguably the second most tragic aspect of the entire game
One interesting thing I thought about was Hero’s reaction to the truth… everyone says he’d take the longest to forgive Sunny and Basil but I wonder if he’d feel a weird sort of relief? Like there was nothing he could’ve done to prevent her death and it wasn’t his fault at all. And then maybe afterward he’s angry at himself for feeling that way.
@@Ambivalence18 i definitely imagine him feeling a lot of grief over the years of his life he lost due to his depression, but it's so hard to say whether or not he'd be able to forgive sunny and basil. that's part of why i find him so fascinating. it's a fundamental part of his nature to be the big brother that makes sure everyone's okay, but how could he comfort the people who killed his love and let him think it could have been his fault for years? even though they really need the support, as they are obviously unwell. also, i feel, like you said, maybe he'd be relieved at first that she wasn't suicidal, but then experience a whole new bout of grief over the revelation that she DID want to live and her life was taken against her will. for that reason he'd need the time. like i said, what an amazingly complex character 💔 hero's reaction to the truth is by far the one i'd be the most interested in knowing

The exploration of grief is what really hits home for me in this game. Aubrey’s is very sad to watch because Mari was like a sister to her but Hero’s is so palpable it hurts. On the day he comes back and you try to go to the cemetery he can’t bring himself to go, and then this scene is genuinely heartbreaking.

My older sister has been playing omori for a while and is a bit before this point and currently thinks Mari pushed sunny down the stairs and these are some flashes of memories with extreme denial or something, if she hears “Maybe I pushed you too hard” she’s gonna be dead set on that theory and her reaction after finding out the roles are revered is gonna be hysterical
My little sister thinks Basil possibly killed Mari atm since he keeps saying sorry she also had other theories too as she played the game she's just about to enter black space.
mari behind sunny in the bathroom mirror doesn't really scare me, it's very melancholic to me. it really feels like mari is watching over sunny. i strongly think ghost mari is real and not just hallucinations tbh
I also subscribe to a supernatural happenings theory. Basil and Sunny being able to see each other's "somethings" is some really good evidence too. I also think Mari is trying to help Sunny, there's no way she wants to see him live the life he's currently trapped in.
This the hallucination in the mirror where you see Mari behind sunny just standing behind him, it didn't even feel unsettling but just sad, that she'll always watch over him even in spirit.
everytime I think I get over how sad this game truly is there's always moments like this that remind me How one accident lead to years of tragedy, affecting so many lives. I feel like a lot of people overlook Kel and Hero's grief - especially Kel's. But Hero was obviously madly in love with her, and having that being taking away in what seemed to be a suicide.. blaming himself for years, not even being able to visit her grave. It's horrible. I could write a novel on this guy and it still wouldn't be enough. And now I'm sad all over again
You know what’s interesting is toward the end of the game where Sunny, Kel, Hero and Aubrey are getting ready to go to sleep at Basil’s house, Hero mentions that he really doesn’t have time to make friends anymore and Kel Aubrey Sunny and Basil are really the only friends he has left. Meaning that Mari was probably his only childhood friend that was his age, the girl next door he grew up with and probably planned to spend his entire life with was taken from him due to one accident. I really hope Hero can meet new people and find someone who loves him.
@@Ambivalence18 Yea that too. I'm pretty sure he didn't want to move on and start meeting new people - Kel kinda said it at the grave with Sunny, that he's "a bit more closed off now". Though with how charismatic he is I don't think Mari was his only childhood friend his age, but the only one he really got close to. In a way he's a lot like Sunny, both living with the guilt of the accident and becoming extremley depressed and isolating themselves because of it. But with the way he's still affected by her death I don't think he'll every truly get over it :(

Really shows how differently Sunny grew up compared to everyone else. I just wanna give him an hug sometimes, man. He didnt deserve this!
That’s a good observation. It kinda reminds of when you see crowds of abandoned cars with their doors still open in apocalypse movies, or houses abandoned suddenly by war or natural disaster still having food on the table.
