I remember having such an indescribable melancholy right after beating the game that I haven't felt in a long time. I played the game during a transitional period in my life, I was on break from college and at that moment after laughing my head off I read the text message. "hey.....miss u.....i'm sorry." It completely shattered me, I reflected on so much in a instant and suddenly my room was so loud, so quiet, so deafening. I was alone. I'm alone. The music made my heart sink. I finally realized why everybody has such a strong reaction. We all unknowingly let our guards down while playing, laughing and enjoying the antics and vulgarity on display. Because the game is a engine for the player to explore their high-school experience and you end up comparing yourself to the characters or acknowledge the similarities to your own experiences subconsciously. Then you reach the end and your forced back into reality, you become aware of your surroundings again, your life, your history, everything before and after you. That's what this music represents, the silence after the laughter. That those days have long passed, that just for a little while you lived through them without realizing it, your heart sinks at how quiet it is now. How the laughter is getting harder to remember, those people, those days, their all gone. Theirs no going back, theirs no re-do's. Everyone you've ever know for the past 12 years, gone. There's only about 5 percent you'll interact with after graduation. When did we get so old? Why is time not stopping? Why can't I remember the sound of the laughter any more?
