40 Minute Vinyasa to De-stress (Grounding & Centering Series Pt 6 -23 Aug '23)

- This is a 40 minute vinyasa practice to help you feel more grounded and less stressed. Part 6 of the Grounding and Centering Series of classes. This practice is designed to help you land back in your body, with your breath and in the here and the now as a remedy for any challenges you may be facing. Ideal if you're feeling stressed, anxious, frustrated or unsettled. Oftentimes, when we feel like this, we lack insight. This class aims to help you feel calm again so you can take a fresh look at what's ahead of you with more clarity and insight.
It's a slow flow that features some mellow opening forward folds and spinal waves, a sequence for your hips, a balance and a restful, quiet cooldown.
For practice, you may wish to have a blanket for comfort.

Thank you so much for this lesson - very anatomical, if I may say so, such on-point advice to adjust & align more functionally, e.g. these Seal at the beginning I do in Lotus usually, & after your cadence with the one leg out to the side, everything moved into place in my pelvis with a lot less effort, I could feel where the thigh connects to the pelvis much better, & thus had the feeling I could stay this way forever! 😌 Heartfelt thanks to you, what a fabulous lesson that was! ❤️🙏🏻

hello, yoga can change depending on the seasons. How do you adapt yoga to the heat and cold of the seasons in the southern hemisphere? Do you reverse seasons or yoga sessions? Therefore, do we, who are in the northern hemisphere, have to choose sessions published in spring when it is mid-September?

Hi Anne, such a great question. Thank you for reaching out. The tradition of yoga & Ayurveda suggest that we do indeed adapt to the changing seasons or ‘ritu’ for balance and harmony. The rationale behind honouring the seasons and their shifts is that it enables us to build our immunity & strength when seasonal changes can often prompt imbalances…. Colds, hay fever, inflammation etc. This is one way of approaching your practice. Another approach, is to simply tune in mindfully to how you’re feeling, your strength & energy levels, consider if it’s your main practice for the week or a compliment to other activities, then choose a class accordingly. Having said that, you’ve inspired me to create a seasonal flagship class for the Fall/Autumn this week for you and your fellow northern hemisphere yogis. I’ll also create 4 playlists this week that feature current classes that can sync up with the seasons if you’d like to practice this way. I’ll send you links when I’ve completed this x Fall - Grounding, Winter - Nourishing, Spring - Energising and Summer - Soothing.
