The Trail to Aspen, CO | Overlanding On a Ski Resort

- Richmond Hill is Aspen Colorado’s main off-road trail, yet most people skip it for Taylor Pass or Pearl Pass. We believe that’s a mistake… why not do all three like we did? Richmond hill allows you to drive on the famous Ski Mountain of Aspen Ski Resort which is home to the greatest skier ever, HotDog Hans. You can then camp on the backcountry ski area and it was amazing! We then went onto Taylor Pass which Drew cut into this video perfectly! So come join us on this incredibly scenic conclusion of our Marble CO to Aspen CO trip which has included Lead King Basin, Crystal Mill, Devil’s Punchbowl/Schofield Pass, Paradise Divide, Pearl Pass, and Richmond Hill.

About Colorado Mallcrawlers:
We are a channel that aims to show incredible off-road trails and our adventures to get through them with stock or your not so typical off-road vehicles. If that sounds like a fun watch, we'd love to have you as a subscriber! The channel membership was created to give our community the best trail info on youtube quicker since trail/overland guides take a while to create. Video Editors are Drew Hunter and Dewie Jones. We're always looking for more offroad video editors as we film a ton of trails (100% of adsense goes to the editor).

Here’s the whole trip from our start in Marble to our ending on Tincup Pass. In 2024, we’ll be filming these kind of trips, but instead will make it one longer video. We’ll still include maps, trail details, tough obstacles, beautiful scenery, as well as our thoughts on the trip. Thanks for watching… I truly think this year we’ll film our best stuff yet! ua-cam.com/play/PLKXEBTz8ZauGaUFx_ze2Oic7wkBvPhY6d.html&si=DNzphV9NX48Gokkd
Going to watch this later but commenting to help with the algorithm
Thanks buddy! It’s all good… I don’t care about the algorithm anymore and my only goal is making videos I’m proud of. Hopefully that means they’re easy to watch tho lol
I love your videos and I love to see Drew's Xterra in action but I think most of all I love to see different 4x4 playing together.
Me too… I’m really hoping my new schedule allows me to bring more vehicles and people along. I’m an introvert so I enjoy solo wheeling, but I really love filming others for videos.
Epic, and I love this style video! Taylor pass and the surrounding trails are going on the summer to-do list.
Thanks! Drew is a master editor… I’m really looking forward to filming a lot of multi day trips this year. We’ll just make them one longer video so you get a better idea of the entire route instead of in pieces.
This one certainly looks like a must do!
It’s a really fun trail system there… was kinda surprised Aspen had something like that.
I went by Aspen on the way to Moab. It is a beautiful area. Nice to see you hanging with other 4x4 brands. I do too.
It sure is and I love filming other vehicles! I want our vids to be about the trails and story.
Great stuff, Dewie! Can't wait to ride with ya'll again.
Same here buddy! Much more time this year.
Another beautiful and amazing video. So looking forward to visiting Ouray Colorado the last week of May.
You’re gonna have a blast!
Great video, great rigs, great scenery! So jealous of you guys!
It’ll be good when we can wheel together again!
THANKS DEWIE !!!!! Been a while since we have seen ya ... Hope ALLLLL is well Buddy !!!!
Hey Mike!! Yeah, I was getting burnt out with behind the scenes UA-cam stuff. I want to take this channel back to my simple goal of just making awesome videos. A little winter break helped me find my drive again… so excited for what we’ll film this year. We’re making multiday overland guides this year. I think they’ll be fun to film and do. We’ll still have shorter trail guides too as we catch up on our back catalog. Thanks for the support from the early days!
@@coloradomallcrawlers ALWAYS BUDDY !!!!
CANT WAIT for whats to come !!! 😁
I love the longer videos. Great video !
The ones we’re filming this year are going to be long… basically they’re gonna be like taking the best parts of this series and making it one big overland guide. We’ll film at least one of those multi day trips a month. We will also release our shorter trail guides we’re catching up on from previous seasons.
@@coloradomallcrawlers I hope I can come along for one !
I haven't seen your videos in a while. I think it's the algorithm recommending me stuff related to my winter hobbies. Since I last saw one of your videos, it looks like the editing has really improved. I thought it was good before, but now it's great! Would love to join you on an overland trip this summer if availability allows
Welcome back! Drew is an amazing editor. To get everyone on the same page, I’m organizing trips through the channel membership (I have made pre-trip videos to let people know what to expect if they come with us). Those I’ve wheeled with in the past will be on a Facebook chat where I’ll post trip dates since that’s how I use to set up rides (Facebook).
It's been quite a long time since i've been to that area! Awesome camping around Taylor Park Reservior. American Flag mountain [Just south of Taylor Pass] was a great place to go! Awesome Single Track too, i'd love to do it again.
We’re likely going back this season!
If you guys like built G-Wagens like you were talking about, check out the G-Wagen Squared. Huge build right from the factory. Out of my price range...
Nice, I’ll check it out, but out of my price range too I’d bet.
Love the video! I need to get back to Colorado!
Thank you and definitely!
Love all the beautiful views, some of those drone shots would make a perfect background photo for my desktop.
You are so good at editing… I’m getting you way better drone shots this year!
That's some amazing backcountry you guys have down there!!
Definitely… I’m excited about exploring it more this year. I think we’ll get much deeper into it.
missed the premiere BUT just watched it! Loved the Aspens views near Aspen! Just had snow here just west of Chicago yesterday & today :( ! Looking forward to CO trips this Summer!
We screwed up a little trying a new UA-cam feature. It basically hid the video, we have a new plan for future uploads. Also, me too, this summer should be awesome!
Great job! Love the drone footage
Thanks buddy!
Love the video! Great information.
I’ve watched a ton of videos, and y’all seem to be the most level headed off-roaders I’ve seen so far in Colorado. Do you have a club or Facebook group that you allow people to tag along on your treks? We are having a hard time finding reliable people to go dispersed camping with on these trails that prioritize safety as well as a variety of off-road rigs.
We have a 4th gen V8 4Runner but I only have a small lift with 33’s, so it’s nice to wheel with people that have regular vehicles that aren’t super overbuilt! Would love to tag along sometime if y’all would be willing to have us!
Thank you! We’re just regular wheelers with jobs and do this whenever we can. I never had a good way to bring people out with us, but we’re trying to do it via the channel membership this year. I wish I could make a level free there, but it wouldn’t allow it. So the $0.99 level gets all trail planning details. It’s an experiment and I hate a paywall behind it, but the member page has allowed me to make videos that don’t affect the algorithm. May is going to a Moab overland trip, June is going to be a San Juan trip. My plan is do at least one trip per month.
Awesome Video as always! Wonder how the Offroad Trailer would do on these trails! mmmmm.
I wonder that too… I’m pretty sure I’ll be testing it out lol
I get mine done, I’ll go with ya!
@ChasingDreamsLivingLife heck yeah! That’d be really fun… I feel bad having the cushy camper while others are in tents so I was taking the tent a lot last season (granted I lived in the camper).
@@coloradomallcrawlers I’d like to get 3-5 rigs together with off-road trailers to do a trip like this. 4-5 days or so!
@ChasingDreamsLivingLife me too, let’s plan it!
What radios do you all use out on the trails?
We use GMRS mostly.
Why are you so stubborn not to put a winch on that rubi? Throw on a warn evo 8s and be done with it.
Wait, when did I need a winch on this trip? Anyway, you buying? I buy cameras to make these videos.
And take your bumper end caps off for God's sake!
What video are you watching? Are you telling me I needed to take my bumper caps off for this Marble to Aspen trip?
