Peke Safety Power Cap PAPR Comprehensive Review

  • This is my personal review of the Peke Safety PAPR powered P2 mask. This mask uses P2 filter cartridges with a full face shield making it the ultimate COVID-19 mask for people who get hot in normal N95 or paper masks. Supplied P2 filter cartridges remove dust and other airborne contaminants with at least 98% efficiency down to .3 microns while air is moved across the face with a flow rate of 160 liters per minute. This exceeds the requirements of an N95 particulate face mask according to Peke Safety. The opinions expressed in this video are my own and are not from Peke Safety.

    I have one and I LOVE it. I actually use it in the ER and ICU taking care of COVID patients. HOWEVER, it does not protect other people from you. It does not filter exhaled air, so although it will definitely protect you, it's important to use a basic surgical mask at minimum while having it on like I do in the hospital.

      So I told several doctor friends about this product and they are very interested in ordering. From your perspective as a doctor do you think a small lightweight machine like this is completely reliable to keep positive pressure within the unit? From what I understand if you lose positive pressure even for a moment it’s incredibly risky because unfiltered air will leak in.

      I am confident as a daily wearer that yes, it’ll keep on tickin... I’ve used this in the middle of sawing walls in half with dust particles so dense you couldn’t see 8” in front of you and the motors keep churning.

    I think this mask is really helpful if you get hot. No one wants or likes to wear a mask but if we gotta wear one, this is the one to wear.

    I have the BioVYZR, have pre-ordered the Microclimate Air and Vinta Active Shield. This attracts me because it’s not a startup, is available immediately, allows hearing and is cooling. The only concern from reading the comments is that outgoing air isn’t filtered. Granted the other PPEs I listed aren’t NIOSH approved, so wearing a face mask with them is wise also. Lots of decisions here but thanks for the in-depth review.

      I’m also really intrigued by the Vinta. But they keep pushing back the release date and it seems like by the time it comes out most of the adult population will be vaccinated. Also it confused me because it doesn’t look like it has an airtight seal but it’s also not positive pressure so how would that work?

    • @TheLillianYoung
      @TheLillianYoung 3 роки тому

      @@rosekramer5238 Yes, the Vinta has been pushed back to June. The flex-guard part looks to provide a seal around the face. I’m unclear about the fogging since there’s fog in the bottom part in a new marketing promo with the guy with curly hair. That said, I order multiple to see how they work. I wish there was a store to check them all out to decide. Instead we have to wait months to get them. Re. vulnerable populations being vaccinated by then, I agree but there are new strains and all of this is likely to last a little while longer. Also, for travel and possibly returning to work in 2021, PPEs may still come in handy.

    Clearly designed as a COVID mask, but it needs some improvement. A PAPR doesn't have to be fullt sealed to work but they made a half assed attempt at a seal on this in my opinion. Good to see companies working on this concept as it is one of the best mask types but least widely available.

    • @Archifx

      I think it’s built very well. The intent of this is for hobbyists and wood workers or folks in a dusty environment. I like it for COVID because it keeps me cool

    • @raunefare
      @raunefare 3 роки тому +2

      it's not at covid mask.. it works by blowing a constant supply of clean air in the mask so you don't need a tight seal and it's only designed to be used in dusty environments. And if it's not nice to wear. You're not going to use it. And full seal mask is the worst. XD

    What is with the holes under the chin? Is for exhaust? That's the opposite of the point of COVID masking.

    Great review! The main reason for masks is to protect other people from our potentially infected air that we exhale. Does this filter the air when we exhale it?

    • @valentinewudo

      @@rosekramer5238 I just read up on Microclimate! I see that hearing outside if the device is difficult because of the build and the fans, upon reading the FAQs, whereas with this Papr it covers the face just short of the ears. And you can hear everything.
