Plus the psychic blades don't leave any physical damage on enemies so that's a fun way to creep out enemies that just find their friend dead with no indication besides the fact that he is....well....dead.
I like to imagine that if you've got any form of forensics in your world, it would just register to mundane examination as a brain hemorrhage. After people start turning up like this consistently the only way they could tell the cases apart from a normal brain hemorrhage is either with an investigator who has psionics, or someone who knows to look for other, seemingly unrelated tell-tale signs, like a ring around the iris or something that mundane examiners wouldn't be looking to for a pattern.
Been playing a Soulknife for a little over a year and I think my favorite thing about them is your psionics dice are only consumed on psi-bolstered knack if they give you a success. Extremely useful when you’re thrown into many many checks at once.
That's the best. I hate features that fizzle even if they fail. Psionic dice are a really cool resource that simply augments what rogues are already good at (skill gooder and stab gooder), rather than some weird amalgamation of junk that doesn't make any sense (I love you Hexblade Warlock, but wtf is up with Specter?!). It's the roguiest rogue.

I’m happy for you. Just going past level 10 is a huge accomplishment for a campaign. In my years of playing, it only happened for me once and I was DM.
@@emperortime4380 Thank you, it was a tough journey, some people left the group, some people joined. I only play DnD for 3 years, and that was the first time I made it this far.
My party early goes past level 12 so that's usually where I end my builds. Fairy, rogue 10 fighter 1 sorcerer 1 with sharp shooter, mage armor, fog cloud, and thrown weapon fighting.
In the lategame this really needs a DM to homebrew some kidna "Ring of Psionic augmentation" magic item to give you a magic weapon style boost to your psionic abilities. if the fighter has a +3 greatsword and the ac has to be calculated accordingly, you need something like this for niche protection.
No, you don’t need such a boost. I’ve been playing a deep gnome soul knife for two years now and we’ve hit Lv 14. Pound for pound, I’m doing more damage on average than any player at the table, which includes a paladin (oath of the watcher), a wizard (war wizard), and another rogue (phantom).
They already get magic throwing weapons essentially free with the subclass, and sneak attack is a heck of a drug. I would argue the fighter needs a +3 weapon to keep up with the soulknife.
Honestly not really, that's what Homing Strikes is for, by that point you'll be rolling a d8 and adding it to the attack roll and it only expends a psi die if you hit, which means you're at an extremely high chance to hit.
Just take one leave in fighter and take the thrown weapon fighting style, or get fairy fire so you can have advantage at the beginning of your next turn for sneak attack.
As soon as I read this class in the book my mind instantly went to Psylocke from Marvel Comics. I want to make a character like this so bad. Great video as always. Keep up the good work! 👍
"If the enemy is resistant to psychic damage." Isn't psychic like the least resisted damage type in the game? That's your DM trying to kill you, like making a mimic that vomits rotgrubs.

As a Fairy with psychic knives I was like an annoying mosquito on the battlefield, staying far from the reach of melee combatants and even taking down a T-Rex by just petting it with psychic blades. Great times! Awesome video as always!
For context, out of all the monsters currently in the game, from all settings, etc., there are a little over 80 that are resistant to Psychic damage, and a good chunk of those are from the new Phandelver and Below. There's just about as many that are immune to Psychic damage, most of which are constructs, with a few aberrations, celestials, etc. thrown in for good measure.
I’ve been thinking about the subclass for like a month. I love being able to go from disarmed to dangerous with a thought. It’s so delightfully rogue-y
This was a fun one, I always like seeing classes that don't focus on mid range fighting actually have viability for it. I mean you should just be able to "once per long rest assimilate the bonus from any dagger destroying it in the process. When you assimilate a new weapon in this way the previous bonus is lost". Thats how the system we use does things like pact weapons and stuff.

Resistant or immune to psychic damage? In what campaign? As a DM, I would have to introduce psychic assassins in order for any NPC to have the prerequisite defenses for psychic. The most common defense for energy attacks is protection from energy or absorb elements, neither of which affect psychic damage. I suppose once you reach tier 3, your exploits may have created a social reason for enemies to counter your abilities.
I’m playing a pirate captain cyborg soul knife in a One Piece campaign, her soul knives are a shortsword/dagger combo that fire out of her palms on a chain like 90s movie Scorpion. It’s such an amazing way to play a rogue.

I have a changeling soulknife. Perfect for infiltration and for me it isn't the blades that are good it's the ability add you get with your psychic dice. Good skill monkey class.
I love to use soulknife to make an "unarmed" rogue, because you summon the blades and thus cant be unarmed. thus a simple reflavor of the blades as psychic punches and kicks and you basically a monk that has less attacks but can sneak attack with their fists. and then I just make the thrown attack shuriken.
I tried this subclass first time playing a rogue. It went really badly. We were assassinating a vampire and I looked them up. They don't have any kind of PSY resist and their big thing is charm. I got protection from charm, I was ready to go. The vampire target had a special backstory where they developed PSY damage resist. Then she put a long term fear on me, making me unable to get advantage. CHA being my weakest stat, I needed to roll a 19 to break the fear. And without advantage, I was unable to sneak attack. I was just totally useless in that fight. Up to that point I was doing great in the infiltration. The extra skills stuff really came in handy! But yeah. Something as simple as fear made made me unable to do anything meaningful. Attacking at disadvantage, with resistance... great time. So bring some fear protection!
