    Had my laproscopic billateral mesh hernia repair on wednesday ,my right side feels ok but my left feels quite sore still like sharp pain mainly when I have been up on my feet for a while ,the Dr said it was a bit more trickier on the left side ,I am hoping I have no damage to nerves etc

      Aussieguy R, Nerve damage after a hernia repair and in particular laparoscopic repair is very uncommon. Having sharp pains and a lot of swelling days after your surgery is expected so I wouldn't worry that you have any long term complications. Best, CAHS

    Hi Doctor, I had my Inguinal hernia repair through open incision surgery 2 months back. I have developed infection in the incision area (E Coli), I am changing dressing every day and the pus is reducing. However my surgeon is suggesting a revision surgery to remove mesh as the wound is taking longer than expected time to heal. Please suggest if I should go for removal surgery or not

      Prakash, Infection complications after hernia surgery are rare but can obviously happen. We would have to defer to your surgeon who can examine you and knows more details. We hope that at this point that you're doing much better. Good luck, CAHS

    when you have complications say in your left side could it be from the mesh and how can I detect if it is another issue or complications from the hernia..surgergy was 3 years ago

      cheryl billett, With the limited information that you have, the best step would probably to be seen by a physician or a surgeon who can discuss your symptoms and decide what the next steps should be. Good luck, CAHS

      Chinna, It would be difficult for us to comment on what might be causing your symptoms without a full examination. However, there are times when scar tissue from prior surgeries creates some fullness in the area of surgery. Best, CAHS

      Emmanuel, Recurrent hernias occur about 1-2% of the time after an initial repair. We would recommend seeing your surgeon to establish if the hernia has returned or not. Best, CAHS

    I’m 16 and I’m getting laparoscopic inguinal surgery in 9 days, I’ve been a nervous reck thinking about the mesh that’s gonna be in me for the rest of my life. What if it’s not the best type of mesh? Or what if it causes problems? Help

    • @CaliforniaHerniaSpecialists
      @CaliforniaHerniaSpecialists  5 років тому +1

      Ryan Wolffy, Any surgery can be scary. Having an implant placed during surgery is extremely common and is performed in ACL repairs, hip and knee replacements, spine surgery as well as hundreds of other types of procedures. Fortunately hernia mesh is used literally 10,000 times a day in patients across the country with outstanding results. We're sure that you'll do great and go on to live a completely normal life. All the best, CAHS

      Waseem, in this video we are discussing more complicated hernia repairs to I assume that you are inquiring about these types of surgeries. For these surgeries, the time can take anywhere from 2 hours, up to 4-5 hours depending on the work required.

      Emmanuel, It would be too difficult to comment on what would be causing your pain a year after surgery. We would recommend seeing your surgeon to determine what the cause might be. Best, CAHS
