I don't have an eating disorder but I have loved ones who have struggled with it and watching you eat that dominos and the captions detailing how you previously watched others do the same made me tear up a bit. I don't know you, but I am incredibly proud of you and your achievements. That would be more than enough to be incredibly proud of yourself, but on top of that, you're using your experience to help and support others and I cannot put into words how truly admirable and awe inspiring that is. You deserve all the happiness and success in the world
The bagel launch at the start 😂 My relationship with calorie counting sounds similar to yours - if the food fit into my 'total' I'd have it, rather than demonising individual foods. Scrapping that 'limit' is so freeing. Such a helpful video, I love the combo of you speaking and the text during your time lapse segments, you're just awesome! 💜
Thank you so much 🥺 you are the kindest soul!! The bagel was not ideal 🤣 it’s a tricky mindset to get out of but it’s incredibly freeing and so worth the hard work in recovery ❤
i saw an instagram post the other day called 'i dont have fear foods, i have fear numbers' and i related to it a lot. i have fear foods and fear numbers but i think that is something that isn't spoken about enough and many people fear the number more than the fear itself but feel invalid for not having 'fear foods' as such! thank you for speaking about it too & for this video - it was really helpful & comforting as always:) you're amazing and so inspiring xx
Why are bananas such a fear food, haha. It's a "healthy" food. Just goes to show how irrational EDs are. You're so inspiring, thank you for putting this video out!!
They aren’t high in calories. 💀 120 calories for a big banana is not bad. It isn’t about the calories, it’s about the enjoyment and the health benefits.
Love you Meg your are such an inspiration!! And for me, my ed was also rlly based on calorie counting. two foods could be the same amount of calories for example and my stupid ed would believe that the one i hadn’t tried would somehow harm me so I totally get you about that 😅
I cel like my biggest Ferrari food were liquid calorie, bread, potatoes, milk, oil, butter. My safest foods were yogurts (the sugary ones too lol), oatmeal from the packets. But I was scared of everything at one point. The calories in tea, lemon water, blueberries, vegetables. Omg Ed make our minds sick. We get freakin brainwashed.
A thing I think is worth mentioning is that, although I'm not speaking from any ed experience, the rules within diet culture of not eating later at night most likely come from the "wellness" influencers and people who like to play dietician with no qualifications and spread misinformation. From a scientific standpoint, eating late at night may, depending on the person, their activity levels, their metabolism and any other number of factors, effect the way in which we digest food, just as eating in the middle of the day may digest differently to early in the morning. While our bodies don't know the time, we do have natural cycles that are affected by light. HOWEVER, this is absolutely negligible. You are not going to eat and apple and gain ten pounds because you ate it at midnight. And even if the effect wasn't negligible, you deserve to eat when you're hungry and eat what you feel like. Also, going to bed hungry is not only going to affect your sleep, but you're just going to wake up hungrier and have to make up for it to feel better. And of course there's no problem with a big breakfast. Have a big breakfast, but also have that late night snack. You deserve to have a snack in your pyjamas, with a film, under a duvet and to enjoy that experience and I hope everyone struggling with food is able to move towards that.
Yes ty my fearfoods r more foods you can’t know the calories of for instance I fear apples pears bananas etc but not necessarily a biscuit I know the calories of. Also agree with quantity too.
I've been in recovery for two years now and obviously gained a lot of weight but im still scared of gaining more :( how did you deal with that? . i still have fear foods so this video was super helpful thank you so much!
So glad it helped ❤ I’d say - consider the life you want to live. When you’re 90 years old and you’re looking back on your life, how do you want to remember it? Do you want it to be filled with suppression? Or do you want to join in and have fun and make memories? Also, what do you value in others? Would you care if your best friend gained weight? If not, clearly your values don’t align with the mindset you’re stuck in. You’re allowed to treat yourself like a loved one. Hope that helps ❤
I had the same experience with giving myself a calorie target for the day, it was very much number based. And the numbers kept getting lower and lower. My main fears were liquid calories and condiments sauces etc.
Thank you for this video! I know you from TikTok but I deleted the App because it was too toxic for me and I am so happy about your Yt channel! You are inspiring🫶
