Rebecca, thanks for being patient! The masking of a PIP is the first thing I did with track mattes and then the track mattes were like a gift that kept on giving. There's a ton of functionality and richness in that feature. - Troy
Thanks for the comment, Randin! The capablity is one that we didn't want to scare the newbie with, so we kinda hid for now. we're looking at additional ways to expose it better in the future.
Unfortunately you cannot currently export a video from Camtasia with a transparent background. A workaround for this would be to export it with a digital green/blue background and remove in whatever software you're transferring it to.
Today I discovered the large window that Camtasia opened to advanced steps to create awesome animations by Track Matte Mode especially that hint key that combine one tool in PowerPoint with this new feature in Camtasia to say in the last: Thank you so much TechSmith for this video
Hi Esam, thanks for the kind words. I want to make sure I understand all of your comments. I agree. I have been using Camtasia for a long time now just because of the easy to use interface. Camtasia has the potential to outsmart other software like premiere. Wish these guys could add more and more awesome stuff like this!
HI Peter. I'm a MBP user as well. Love it. The Track Mattes are there. But might be hidden. (In truth, we did sorta hide them from public view b/c we didn't want to confuse all our users with a feature that was only for the ninjas). Alas at 0:50 in the video, you'll see that it when you right click or control-click on the eye. Here's a screenshot that should help: www.screencast.com/t/QkqSR8MWb5jy - Troy
hi TechSmith. Is it possible to use the track mattes function in interactive videos? I would like to create a video with a "hidden part" which appears only if you click on the provided button.
That's not currently a function in Track Mattes, but a super cool idea for a future use case! If you don't mind, head over to feedback.techsmith.com to suggest it to our developers! (Sorry for the delayed response!)
Looks like this is a custom intro that Troy made for his videos, though with all the customizable options on our intros, it's possible that it started from one. :)
I am making videos for an online course. In a set of videos I don't like the background. Is there anyway to change the background and keep the video of me talking?
Only if it was recorded on a green screen. Or, if you want, you could put yourself into a smaller (circular or shaped) frame as well to cut down on background distraction.
@@techsmith there are some tools for removing a regular background from a video. After Effects can do it, but will take a bit of a learning curve. There are some other apps for removing backgrounds (google: remove background from video). But, I haven't used them, so I don't have a very informed opinion on them. - Troy
I know my problem is not what your video is about, but I am having trouble finding a solution. When I cut some video, I can't play back without getting flashing or black screen but do have audio. I have tried the one solution I found that had me go to edit, preferences, advanced, and software only. That has not resolved the issue. Can you direct me to some help? Please. Thanks.

Hi, Robillard! It is from the Camtasia Assets library. It's called Indie Rock Swagger: library.techsmith.com/camtasia/assets/asset/a/148390 Let us know if you have any other questions. :)
I have been using Camtasia for 8 years. I have a question: can Recorder 2020 allow you to reject a bad recording with one button? Or is the painstaking procedure still working?
Hi Piotr, I guess I'm curious which part of the process you're referring to? When recording? If so, when you don't like what you're doing just press "Pause Recording," then select "Delete" or "Start Over" or "Resume." Shouldn't be too painful, but maybe you have a different workflow you're referring to?
@@techsmith Thanks for the answer. I am a math teacher and have recorded about 1,500 educational videos with Camtasia. The problem I am writing about is the unpleasant REQUIREMENT to confirm the abandonment of a failed recording during an unwanted Preview. Whoever records himself knows how many attempts must be abandoned. Unfortunately, Preview is always coming! This is fine when it completes the recording successfully and I want to check it. But if you drop out of a faulty recording often (normal thing in the recording process) then Preview is annoying. I once read a response from TechSmith on some forum and the explanation was something like this: there is no single key to delete the recording for the sake of accidental deletion! This is ridiculous, if I program a key for this myself, I know when to use it. I read that there are other users who want this option, not only me. By the way, I find Camtasia a great tool and I don't want to change it to anything else :-)
Well first I'll say we're glad you find Camtasia to be great (other than this of course)! As far as this topic is concerned, the team answering UA-cam videos wouldn't have solutions for this topic. It sounds like you've already visited our feedback site, but that's where those conversations would get in front of the eyes of the dev team. If you are so inclined, you can check on whether that's a current topic of discussion, or bring it up as a new one if you'd like: feedback.techsmith.com Thanks again!
Techsmith, please give us more green screen layers! Also we need to be able to read multiple tracks from one MP4. You have no idea how useful this would be. Specially with OBS. I can only read 1 single track. I have to rip it with another program. If everyone else can do it in their program, I think you guys can to. Also, MKV SUPPORT PLEASE
These are all great ideas (most we're aware of) but rather than leave them here, let me recommend you head over to feedback.techsmith.com where our Devs read and respond to feature ideas (and often implement). Thak you for sticking with us in the meantime!
