    Hey folks! I put out a Zelda video recently ( ua-cam.com/video/OsaLtbD0LmE/v-deo.html ) that I poured a TON of time into, but unfortunately UA-cam didn't serve it up a whole lot. If you missed it, check it out! It's about Ocarina of Time and what would happen if Bongo Bongo transformed the Deku Tree! I changed the entire dungeon to fit the theme. Also, a huge shoutout to Jasper ( noclip.website ) for his help with everything! You may find that noclip's viewer has changed slightly for the eyes discussed in this video, but they're still generally located in the same place. You'll just need to toggle the scenarios.

      Jasper here -- this was a *ton* of fun to work on, thanks so much for the opportunity! I recently did a bit more digging into the EyeBeamer actors and found that where noclip places them today is actually roughly correct -- they're located *directly* under the planet, and in the mode that this level places them in, actor itself will search *upwards* for the nearest planet and teleport to stay a fixed distance around it. I just haven't gotten around to implementing that feature yet.
      I'm currently in the middle of a big push to make noclip indistinguishable from the game itself. If you guys spot anything else weird on the site, let me know since stuff like this helps us grow our knowledge of the game's internals.

    This supports the theory I commented on the Launch Star video-- objects like the Launch Star and Eye Beamers are already loaded but out of bounds, and are just teleported to where they're supposed to be once the player meets a criteria (kills the pokey plant or lands on the planet, respectively).

    One of my thoughts are the eyes in the planet are intended to be spawn relative to each other (the eye and the planet) when the level is loaded. If that planet is not there the eyes immediately don’t know where to spawn. So it randomly goes somewhere that is empty space outside of the planet boundaries so it either goes way out of reach or underground. They are probably one model to which explains why they always spawn the same distance and relative position to one another

  • @zacharytgmredsun
    @zacharytgmredsun 5 років тому +6

    The reason the Eye Beamers are set out of bounds is because of developer techniques. Watching a ton of Boundary Break, I know that objects that are randomly out of bounds are preset entities until they are called in (most likely when you hit the launch star to the planet they appear in). This is most likely the case with the Eye Beamers, and may just me true.

  • @Xandog
    @Xandog 3 роки тому +5

    Actually, fun fact about the Eyes, they're using Mercator projection, which actually makes them go around the multiple path planet on star 2. Still weird that they are placed so far out though, as it's unnecessary.

    Whats with the key hole in the air duct above the employee shower/locker room in Area 51 on the N64 Perfect Dark? If you use xray specs in the showers,look up and follow the vent. It will end at a box with a key hole emitting light. This mystery has perplexed me for years, Im not sure if the remake has this item or not.

      They're green until you activate them, done by walking over them. Once activated, the sand fills up one side of the cylinder to the other (as seen with the yellowish circle moving upwards inside of it).
      The color of the switches turn red until this event is finished (and can be activated again when green).

    For the eye beamers, I know I’m not the best at theorising when it comes to programming mechanics, but my best idea is that the objects are placed to automatically load depending on the scenario, almost as if using true/false statements (if star2 is true then subroutine, else if delete)

    I've always been wondering about those massive holes on the main planet. Can't you normally never get to them? I'm super creeped out by just how massive they are, especially considering how this is the largest planet in the entire game. Every other planet in that galaxy can fit into those holes. But why is all the quicksand pooling into these colossal pits, why are they so dark that they're immediately pitch-black from surface view, why are they so massive, and what does it mean for the planet itself?

    This isnt that mysterious, they are just being set to a specific location on level start, while the other eye beamers in the game are already placed very close to their intended location (which is likely a location set by a different, invisible game object and the eyes are 'snapped' to it at start).

    It seems the eyes were closest to the final area, but also facing the secret star area... What if the eye beamers were a lost asset? Something that was originally supposed to be able to be used for 2 stars, using them as a hazard for the secret star, as well as the final star, so they placed the eye beamers in the middle of both so that they could go to whichever one was loaded in to help save on coding times, but then when they scraped the idea they forgot to remove the asset?

    This feels like one of those things Nintendo added to flavor the Galaxy, and then cut it from the final game. Like the Caterpillar, or water planets in other galaxies. Even though this is just a guess, it feels to me like the Eye Beamers here were Placeholders for something else, possibly at one point meant to be something like a mysterious creature peaking at you from under the sand, watching but never interacting with you, and when Nintendo decided not to use this idea they forgot to erase the placeholder. If this speculation were true though, it may also explain their movement, if the place holders were supposed to show where this hypothetical creature would move, and was forgotten about, they may have set a movement path for the Eye Beamers and just forgot to stop them at any point since they weren't meant to be the final product.

    it probably doesnt matter where they are to start with. Once loaded they are likely set to a position along a path rather than moved, which means before loaded it doesnt matter where they are. Pretty typical thing for games really, they just put them there and never needed to move them. Whereas the other ones they put them in the right place for really no reason other than level design clarity. Maybe these were the first ones placed and they were still working on the code when put into the world so they didnt know where they would go yet

    Maybe the eyes were origanaly set to spawn in two different locations, so the developers put them out of bounds to have the game recall them to these locations

    Those beamers aren't on the sand planet when you're doing the speedy version of that star. Wonder if that has anything to do with it.

    Maybe there were tossed in at the last second and had a position programmed without moving the spawn point

    Frankly, as someone who’s played this game for so long, I didn’t EVEN KNOW the yellow beams had eyes that they came from, cause the camera never actually shows them do they?

    • @MarioFanGamer659
      @MarioFanGamer659 5 років тому

      Well, you can see them from below in Dusty Dunes Galaxy as seen at 4:48 (you can also always go in first person mode). But yeah, it's more likely to see them from above than from other sides.

      Huh, interesting...this was my first Mario game, and yet, for how long I’ve played it, I somehow never caught wind of the eyes in the yellow beams.

    They are both just eyes so probably that

    I commented this on an older video of yours but i wanted to say it on a recent video, hoping it might catch your attention.
    Could you investigate ocarina of time's secret colored gauntlets glitch. It's debated in the community if they are real but i found an old video that showed how to do it even in the 3ds version of OOT and I managed to unlock them. I would love to see someone share and finally confirm that there are still hidden things in old games.

    There under the map because they need a trigger to warp to the position
    And the devs don’t want you to see them before you activate the trigger

    May I make a statement?
    The Slipsand Galaxy skybox contains a number of stone towers; one towering over all the others. I tried to think of the reason that they are there, & instead made this discovery:
    The stone towers stand for the tallest towers in the world, such as the Empire State Building in New York City, & the Space Needle in Seattle Washington State; the tallest stone tower stands for the Burjh Kalifa in the United Arab Emarates, which, coincidentally, is located just East of the Arabian desert.
    I’ll stop talking now, if you wish.
