LAWN MOWER Motorized Bike (Part 1/2)

- Опубліковано 2 вер 2020
- Hey everyone! I'm finally back home. Today we take on the new challenge of building a legitimate lawnmower motorized bike. The difficulty in this build is converting the vertical shaft output of the lawnmower engine into a horizontal output. I scavenged a few parts from the junkyard to make this doable. Be sure to check out other build on the channel such as go karts, mini bikes, gas scooters, go peds, motorcycles and anything motor bikes.

Wait, when was the transition from "had to sell my kidneys for a trash bike" to "here's my 3d printer and cnc plasma".
I must have blinked or something.
Sold a little plasma for the plasma
Had to sell the 65" plasma too.
hahah I sold other parts of my body for those.
I got a question, where did you get vertical to horizontal thing?
I think you could use an angle grinder gearbox
Before I start watching this, thank you for your service, and thank you for coming back to youtube after your time away.
Thanks Ryan! good to be back
Excellent, but what IS that little 90°gearbox? Would work well to fit a vertical v-twin on my It200 dirtbike...😁
Good to see you back 💪 the new tools are putting in work. Seen that rogue fab in the back
Thanks Vasily! Yeah tubing bender is waiting on parts haha
Oh my god hes returned. Everybody stay calm.......
I wet myself a little sorry 😐

You mean the D-rectional rotation drawing?
did you re-up bro?
Love your channel!! It's always nice to learn something new while watching a neat machine being built!
I’m really glad you’re home 👍 I have been missing all your awesome videos!
Ps Thanks for giving me a shout out! and for the link to my channel in your description, That’s really awesome!
I will give you and your channel a shout out in my next video 👍
Welcome back.TY for Serving.I wondered how you got those mad CNC skills.Mike Festiva really does allot with his too.Keep up the fun. We'll be here.
Im so glad you are back terrorizing bicycles, good stuff man, good stuff.
cheers, thanks you!
holy cow its good to have you home.we missed you. I hope its home for good. all the new tools the sky is no limit for you. So glad to see you back and i just cant wait to see you build more cool stuff. Still wish you lived on my street. Thanks.
Thanks Timothy!
So glad you are back! Thank you for your service!
You’re builds are getting more advanced yet mostly simple to the point where I could find the parts! As someone who just uses stuff I find this channel helps a lot, you should do something like this without welds and ect
Thanks! Maybe one of these days I will, Colin Furse did a few videos like that too!
Oliver Motorized you should try something again with those Chinese atv parts and/ riding mower.
Do you know a good adderall dealer? That might be a start.
I love your videos , a regular guy - regular tools - no unneeded jibber jabber or cursing, love the fact that you involved your girlfriend on one of your builds that alone very special.
Man you remind me of when I was young from 9 years old building whatever I could find in a landfill raised very poor and today I'm a fabricator my heart I wouldn't do it any other way, seeing you build stuff in your environment is the way it really is for most of us some videos show the best of the tools the best of the environment The Best of the Best of the Best of the Best and we can't compete with that but you bring it all to reality and that is why I'm so grateful to find your videos.
"Regular tools" while he uses a laser metal cutter
Glad you're back. The table, cad, and saw? Wow! Big things coming I just know it.
A little computer burner like that can really elevate a guy's creativity and final product. Everybody needs one.
I'm really happy to see you back, and with an awesome new set of tools and machines! I will say, I missed the vocal commentary through your old videos, but this format is nice too. I'm so excited to see how clean your builds are gonna look!
Thanks Zyron! Yeah I am just experimenting with different communication techniques. By vocal commentary do you mean the narration or stopping and explaining stuff as I go on camera?
Oliver Motorized I meant more like stopping and talking during the video. But either way works! I just feel it’s a more personal experience, hearing your thought process as you go
@@ZyronMelancon That's really good feedback, thank you.
He’s back!!!!!
what is that vertical to horizontal "do-dad" called?
did you ever find out? I need one 😭
I really like shorter to the point videos but I’m sure there are folks who like the extras.
Great build. Maybe add a two belt system and make it two speed easier of the line and then cruise speed
Man O Man, so glad you're back doing the creative things you do, can't wait for part 2!! Thanks for sharing and as always you know "Howdy from Texas 😀"!!
Thanks Greg, always appreciate the comment!
I know it’s gonna be good, liked before video even started.
Glad you're back! Thank you for your service and God bless!
Thanks for watching! glad to be back.
Great to see you making things again!
Thanks, good to be back in the garage.
liked the minute the video loaded! you have some pretty epic new toys to play with!
glad your back, missed your shenanigans
glad to see you made it home safe!
Thanks!
Welcome back. I enjoy watching your creativity. That plasma cutter is sweet! Will it cut aluminum? I need to learn more about the "new tech".
Thanks Bob, yeah that plasma cutter will cut anything from aluminum to stainless. I still have a lot to learn about it too though!
Welcome back! New tools too, awesome!
That's right! thanks.
Oh my God he's finally back! THANK YOU!
This man is out here doing gods work
Hey quick question hopefully you can help me out I have a 26-in Roadmaster want to update my sprocket but I don't know the size of the hub what size is your mountain bike hub
Yes!! You are back!! Thank you so much, the wait was long. The Swedish alphabet is in place and so is the grinder! The editing, the tools and the machines all have improved. So much looking forward to the next part.
Be well and take care.
Alicia.
Thanks Alicia!
Hey. We're still here. Right where you left us last. Looking good there my man
Welcome back man your vids are always fun to watch from your parents house to now you made a huge progress and the new machine is so cool man, looked ng forward to more from you
Thanks for sticking around all this time!
@@OliverMotorized Always brother your content is very entertaining 🎉
Glad to see you are back! Love the project, but make sure you find yourself a cast iron flywheel to replace the aluminum one. Cheers!
Thanks Declan! Are you saying the aluminum pulley needs to go?
@@OliverMotorized No, that running an aluminum flywheel might give you problems as that engine usually runs with a blade attached, which acts as a flywheel. Remove it and it can backfire, pulling the rope out of your hand and also it won't idle.
Swap it to a cast iron flywheel, if you haven't already.
you have some great ideas im going to fallow through with from now on thankyou very much i learned alot
Glad your back love your work
Thanks Dean!
YESSSS. Time for your come up my dude, welcome back!
Just happened across your channel. The boys over at Cars and Cameras would be proud. Great job on the bike 👍
Just found your channel and subscribed yesterday and was bummed to see the channel might be dead, one day later and a new video!
haha just took a long break, thanks for subscribing!
Glad I found this channel. Not what I expected, but this is better
you don’t know how long I’ve been waiting for you to upload a video 👍👍👍 👍👍😃 so glad you’re back
haha likewise, thanks bud!
Your welcome
Good to see you back making videos man!
thanks Adam
good to see you're back troop, waited patiently for more videos ;)
Thanks for sticking around!
Great build!
thank you!
Excellent video. Awesome bike
wow, perfect! just as i started my own build of a motorized bike too. Do you need a jackshaft like that? I was thinking of running a belt from the motor to the vertical/horizontal converter and a chain mounted directly on it, do you think something like that will work?
Yeah I used the jack shaft for a few reasons; the shaft on the motor is 7/8" so I couldn't just throw a clutch on there and there was not enough room in the center of the frame to add a large enough pulley for adequate gearing. I think there were other reasons but I don't remember haha! I'm sure you can make it work the way you want, but having a proper gear ratio at the end is the tough part.
@@OliverMotorized Thanks for replying! We'll see if mine turns out a mess, but in the meantime i'm looking dorward to your next vid
now theyre rippin these kids off calling them ebikes and chargin 8 grand for it 😂
Dayum!! Nice bro!!
Yo Oliver been a while glad to see keeping it up.
Be blessed 🙌
Thanks Rasta! likewise.
Hey mate, whats the 'do-dad' you used? Is it like out of an old drill or something? Cheers!
What did you snag that angle drive off of?
Yay he's back
Loves the drag
What a real ass guy, this is awsome😆👏💯
Love it...subscribed
Awesome, thank you!
Where did you get that 90 degree drive from
What was it that you used to transfer the horizontal rotation to the vertical rotation
Wow i learned so much here
where did you get the vertical to horizontal shaft converter
He did it again! :-)
This is dope af
Good to see you again....
thanks man!
what is the part used to convert the engines rotation
Just curious, why do you choose to use jack shafts for all your projects?
He's finally back 👍👍
i'm back!
I'm planing on doing something similar with a lawnmower
Were do you find the gear box
He's aliiiive!
Welcome back from overseas, we missed you. But understand and appreciate why you were gone.
Started watching this video derived comfort from seeing another $5 bicycle being whacked apart. Then I was sure I went to the UA-cam Twilight Zone: CAD? 3D printer?! A plasma table??!! Holy s#$@, Batman!
Took a few minutes to calm down. Anywho, welcome to the 21st century of metalworking. While the stuff is cool and loads of help, please don't let it curb your creative expression. Use the stuff like the tools they are, to help you expand your work horizon and take you to the next level of projects.
P.S.: the stuff's also an absolute kick in the ass to learn to operate!
Thanks Colin, I definitely see what you are saying. I had a sense of guilt using these devices because it didn't feel like I was truly making the parts. But I had to convince myself in reality, I could make all these mechanisms by hand but it would just take much longer and use more tools.
Ну наконец то, так долго тебя не было. Давай с новыми силами делай видео, буду ждать с нетерпением. С возвращением, друг.
Спасибо! еще видео в пути
@@OliverMotorized жду
Damn buddy, you’ve been off eating your Wheaties or Spinach or something haven’t you? You’ve gotten a lot bigger since last we saw ya! That’s a good thing, don’t take that the wrong way. Glad to see you back! 👍👍✌🏻
What is the thing that you use to convert the transmission to horizontal
nice to see ya back
good to be back, thanks!
Maybe a Small boat engine :) , as your next project.
ha i'd love a boat engine
@@OliverMotorized I mean all you have to do is replace the prop with a gear sprocket and the other neccesaties like throttle and mounting it. Although you would have to figure out a way to water cool it.
I just love your channel
Thanks!
Glad you're back! I see you got better tools. And better editing. Come on, now you ever DESIGN the pieces (and not just weld a couple of bolts together). Very nice work!
haha Thanks Victor!
Very cool, but a pro tip from a veteran laser operator, clean the scale from the surface for a better cut as well as dry run your program first and that way you can nest your parts better and reduce waste. i noticed you had tons of space between the parts and you can get away with spacing your cuts double the thickness of the material with plasma. laser is even better.
Thanks for the advice! I definitely could work on consolidating cuts better. It's just difficult as the parts become more obscure in shape.
welp i guess im not the only person with a vertical shaftmotercycle anymore -_- i have more vids on the way btw. almost ready to get certified.
I've only seen a few on youtube, and they all use friction-drive! Looks like yours is using an old peerless trans? Awesome!
@@OliverMotorized 540cc briggs 18hp intek with clone mikuni carb. im running a modified peerless with full steel gears instead of cast iron and just recently made a brand new gear ratio for it that doesn't normally exist by welding to the neutral gear. so first gear is 25-25 and second is 31-19. Still not sure how to do my belt tensioner as I've tried a couple different ways but nothing seems to be able to keep the belt from slipping. I use to run chains the whole way around till recently when i added that second gear.
@@OliverMotorized Just uploaded a couple more short videos and have more coming soon. One on my transmission and the next on the brand new clutch coming in (Noram enforcer)
Yay he’s back
Is the second part done yet??
What are you using for a 90 degree gear box
I really don't know what it's from, It was at the scrap yard for super cheep.
Welcome back! Now build a lawn mower out of a bike. ;)
Very good
Why mount it with the shaft facing down??
My dad just got a new electric mower and, he gave me permission to tamper with the old mower. Plus we got an old extra bike and, I'm getting paid in a bit. I think you guys can see where I'm going with this
That’s really creative
I’m also going to make one
Everyone's a critic, but the right angle drive probably won't last long, gears too small, pressure/wear/heat too much for that little component. Having said that, hats off to this creation!
Muy bueno,saludos desde argentina.
Gracias!
Those motors can be very hard to start without the blades flywheel effect, they will often kick back and rip the pull starter out of your hands, thats why I used a Suzuki m120x 2stroke engine, and put it sideways 😉
I like your video im form Indonesia
where can i buy a angle gear
How did i miss the notification.... Welcome back.
Thanks Derek!
Oh cool your back
You should try to make that belt tensioner work in reverse - push to disengage like in a clutch
Use a Pulley size in between the 2 you tried and your ratio should be good not too high not too low! I have a motorized bike but i built it with one of the 2 stroke kits they sell! Way too much fun!!!
Thanks, I don't think I had one in between the two sized on hand!
Oliver Motorized that bike is way cool though
Yea, we have a cad 3-D printer cutter whatever you got there. Welder too? Titanium Saw, yea I got one next to my Mini Nuclear Reactor. Next you’ll be making a Jet Engine for your Composite Conard dual wing aircraft like Burt Rutan sold in kit form in the 80’s. He used a little 23hp engine but it cruised at 120mph with 150mph top speed. Others popped in a superVw 100hp to get the plane to 200mph. Not bad, huh? You some kind of Engineer Prodigy, me thinks so! Anyway I digress. Have a 6.75 hp Craftsman lawn mower with electric start that would power an old bike just fine me thinks.
Welcome back, old friend. It's been awhile... It felt like a year to be exact!😅
haha thanks Ruben!
Lol I thought u were gonna ghetto rig this engine on the bike
But dam I'm gonna need a light machine shop to throw this together lol. Cool tho
Pretty sweet but next time you may be able to take like 2-3 speed push mower transmission and have it geared.
I've done similar!
