Good video . If I may add my peace of advice: You should, also, choose an appropriate place for doing this, where people come to walk or rest, and not a busy one where everybody is in a hurry and nervous. That works for me.

Ok, I don't know if I'll ever do street photography like this. I'm more the studio type.
BUT a huge thanks for this video, for sharing your passion, your flame.
The tips you give here are very precious.
Your photos are gorgeous, but what strikes me is how competent and a decent person you seem to be.
    Peace.

Great info for making portraits of strangers in public and using your available scenery. Adorama always has such helpful tutorials and great teachers, but this isn’t what street photography is.

Firstly I'd like to say Thank you Pye, for making these videos, they are very informative and for me, personally, they are pushing me back towards getting out and shooting more regular, when the outside temp isn't -5 degree celsius here in the U.K. What i found from this video, is everything you have said, i actually did just last week whilst walking around the centre of London, albeit, I didn't show anyone my socials, but I did give them my card, and they all came back to me for their images, which they have posted, and it has gained me a few more followers 😁. I'm making do with my 16-35mm F4 lens for now, and once I can, I will purchase a 85mm F1.8 for that ideal seperation in the images. Looking forward to your next video 🐻

nice tuto and great advises. i would have liked seeing some exif and presets used. can you please give some advises for aperture for the girl with dog, group,... because i suppose you didn't use F/1.4. i see you use a R6 which is known like R5 to have a nice eye detection. we see you click on display and nothing else so you can optimize your composition and camera does the job. My new Z6II is quite weak for eye detection until next firmware updates. do you have some advises to shoot street portraits quickly with other camera than R5/R6 ? (AF-ON back button focus, AF-C single point,.aperture priority, auto iso ... ?)

Some of my best pictures were done in a similar way, yet cannot post them online because RGPD rules forbid me to do so without model’s written consent. I end up showing then in person on an iPad and it works wonders to get new volunteers.

Really interesting topic, just starting to talk to strangers about modelling for me at my studio, feel really awkward currently doing it. Gone down the business card route just to make me seem somewhat more legit as a stranger, good shout to show your insta/FB ;)

So inspirational, and from a top notch photographer. Love the way you incorporate objects at hand, like using a phone as reflective surface. A question, what info do you ask for them to get in touch? Asking their phone nr or email might seem intrusive to some?

may I ask what you then actually do with these pictures? I understand you send them to the people you photographed, but do you also publish them on your site? If so under what kind of license? Are you allowed to sell these pictures? When do you need a model release? and do you have one signed? In what situation?
