Isn't 20MPH the old Roman limit for horse and cart? I'm sure I've seen some ancient road signs in the British Museum 'XX Maximus Velocitas' The regression of England under the left.
Ps my 19 year old daughter passed her driving test last year and lives in terror of getting a ticket as her license would be revoked for doing 23 mph on an empty road!! My husband got his first speeding ticket at 41 for doing this past Wimbledon tennis courts in winter when not a single human is walking/crossing anywhere there!!
They just announced the very same regulation for NYC. It's inorganic for multiples countries to experience carbon copy issies and reach identical solutions.
No one adheres to it here in west London😂 Everyone continues to do 30 and guess what, its what cars were built for and is the right speed!!!! Im a delivery driver of 25 years, ooh and im a mum ( not that it matters) I live opposite a primary school and of course we all drive v slow near schools ! But driving slower than we can run/walk on empty roads is utterly ridiculous!!!! I know I deliver firewood all over London!!! We all do 30 and only slow down at speed cameras. Im 46 never hit anyone yet. People tried to do 20 but no more. 2nd gear screams and 3rd gear shakes. Its the biggest waste of money ever . I drive literally all over London. These 20 zones are in places with no school no one crossing roads so just why!!!!!!!
Even buses and police cars do 30. Its ludicrous. We have eyes and mental stability/driving experience! Why not all do 5mph then! I deliver near Crystal Palace every week too. Massive stretch of road wirh NO ONE walking /running into road so just why!!!!!
Any cyclists out there? Genuine question? Why dont you stop at traffic lights? Ever!!!!! I know because I work in central /outer London. You dont abide by the highway code you know you dont so whats your argument?
