You wouldn’t believe how many people on benefits have brand new electric cars and most of what I’ve seen has nothing wrong with them. The best, cheapest and quickest way is to hire private detectives and catch the fakers and you would probably half the number within weeks
Our country is upside down. I have no confidence that the current government want to change this situation. It supports their global view of "we will help you " with the rotten rich people's money (not including us), until everyone, apart from us, have nothing and are happy.
1. Freeze benefits for 10 years. What you get today is what you’ll get next year and so on. Allow income to be maintained at benefits plus inflation plus £1200, throughout that ten years to encourage the work you can do and make it pay…. 2. No new benefit claims from anyone who wasn’t born in the UK, or who hasn’t paid income tax for the previous 10 years… 3. Reintroduce National Service for all at 18. If you don’t fancy the Military then alternatives will include care homes, elderly and social care, waste management etc. Measure this in hours. If they don’t show up it will take much longer to complete your hours. Only pay for hours worked. Young people’s health will improve whilst they see how those less fortunate suffer… 4. Reduce income tax for those families, in employment, with 2 or more children… 5. Provide one whole term fixed rate mortgage per married couple. This will make them wealthier over time in real terms and encourage families…. 6. Close the bloody borders!

Benefits is worse than just money. It entices the breakup of families. About 8 years ago i was on £30k a year with 2 kids and a wife in Oxfordshire. We were struggling. My now ex wife found out what she'd get on Benefits and pretty slowly started backing away. The moment it was over, the government forms were filled out and she wanted to discuss child maintenance payments. She got a nice house in an affluent area paid for, bills, and added money into ger account, topped up with 16hrs a week tax free working. It's all so wrong. Even now, whilst we get along, i couldn't afford her lifestyle. Her new build 3 bed house, in a sought after cotswold village, would wipe out most of my current earnings.
what a joke, i was in same situation, working full time, paid for everything in home, all furniture. she just went on benefits , kicked me out into a bed sit. i lost everything. while shes now been on benefits for past 5 years, everything paid for plus i have to pay her 450 a month. has drovem me to depression suicidal thoughts , but yet ive carried on working

By law I've had to swap from HB to UC, where they're paying me more! I don't understand this concept plus apparently I could have not bothered for 40 years and been better off. The thought of mindlessly doing nothing for 40 years...

Part of the problem is there simply is not enough jobs for everyone of working age to get a job. The jobs that are available are becoming increasingly difficult to get in to, even entry level jobs. Ive seen so many people like myself who apply for jobs daily for months and would be lucky to hear back from any of them.
It has alot to do with, work pays less, than the benefit system. I old now, worked my whole life, but would i now if i was young, i don't know. Rent is high, houses cost more, to the cost of wages, until they link rent and house prices to wages, it will never change.
In many circumstances it makes no sense to work. I do it because I was brought up with a strong worth ethic by my parents but if I went solely by the numbers, then it makes no sense. I have worked for the last 27 years. The last 20 doing 12 hour shifts. It's minimum wage with shift allowance on top. It works out gross about 30k per year which is very good for the town I live in where most people are lucky to earn 20k per year. Then there's the fact that the best paid people in the town are people like single mums. With all the discounted council tax and other help they get, they are living a life of a person earning 40k which no local worker earns. I know people who are working and are paying over 50% of their income on housing alone. Like I've said, I have always worked myself but I walk about with my eyes open and I can see why other people don't work. People are often worse off financially by working than if they claim benefits.
So goodbye to Universal credit, disability living allowance, personal independence payment and other such things that some of the very poorest & disabled rely on? Well done...
They’ve made it that if you work you pay for everything and if you don’t you pay for nothing, it’s not hard to find why no one is working, no one on benefits should be better off then someone who works.
