    So sad to think that Flo would be gone from the group in just a few months from when this aired. All three ladies look so beautiful and elegant here.

    "Mountain Greenery" is a popular song composed by Richard Rodgers, with lyrics by Lorenz Hart for the musical The Garrick Gaieties (1926).

      Count Basie... with Bobby Darin, the Supremes and Petula Clark. The show was on ABC. If they were paid back then what they were worth the four of them could have bought ABC. Just sayin'. LOL! Great performance! Thanks for posting.

    Berry/Motown should have had the Supremes doing some Broadway stuff. They were super versatile and he should have cashed in on it instead of just being focused on one thing / person.

      Should I bite my tongue because you think berry Gordy was a genius?

    • @jobucats2166
      @jobucats2166 Рік тому +1

      You're so right, they were super versatile; however, they did lots of Broadway songs, show tunes, and standards. On practically every variety show they were on (including the Ed Sullivan Show and the Hollywood Palace), they were always including at least one Broadway song or standard. They even did a tv special, GIT, with the theme of gettin' it together on Broadway. I can't think of any pop artists of that time who were doing as much Broadway and standards as the Supremes.

      @@jobucats2166 berry Gordy knew they had that knack and he wanted to showcase it to open more doors for The Supremes, which obviously meant MO’ 💰 💴 💵

      @@ceeceetracey9839 I misread your initial comment. I thought you were implying that Gordy was not having the Supremes doing Broadway songs when you stated, "Berry/Motown should have had the Supremes doing some Broadway stuff." To most fans, the Supremes were for our enjoyment; however, many often overlook that the group was a business entity who's job was to make money. And that one person, who some will say at the expense of the other two, was the ticket for the Supremes to perform where many other artists were not even invited.

      @@jobucats2166 I might be misreading your post now but I don’t think just Diana Ross made that possible. Florence Ballard and Mary Wilson had an amazing sound together that also made it possible.

      Peter Gennaro. He was a well known dancer/choreographer of the time when this special aired
