I have lived off grid in the high desert of Arizona for three years now. I moved off grid with next to nothing and began to build systems to provide my basic needs of food, water and shelter. This year my homestead is capable of harvesting and storing 14,000 gallons of rainwater. I grow and harvest a large part of my meat and vegetables and I have created many other fun systems for beekeeping, aquaponics and baling hay.

Do you grow Cannabis at all? Probably need shade for most plants in scorching summers? Cheers!
You've inspired me and now my wife and I are out on our 3 acre's now. Thank you Bro!
That's great. I'm happy you have your own land. That's a big deal. I watched a couple of your videos just now, and it made me laugh, thinking back to those earliest days.
@@FrugalOffGrid Lmao 🤣😂🤣
Pretty incredible what you managed to achieve! I love seeing everything working together, everything has a purpose
Like a well oiled machine. This year will be epic.
@@FrugalOffGrid I agree, you'll have an Epic year!
It's amazing that it's been 3 years. You've done great!
Thanks cricket
And a colony of bees 🐝!
Yea! I love having the bees
@@FrugalOffGridthat’s what I’m looking to do. I would love to live underground or build from scratch and start a Bee farm along with some other things and have thought about Az. for a while now..
That time went quick, I remember you unloading your trailer on the first day.
Time flies when you're having fun
It all boils down to hard work and determination it's amazing what you can accomplish, having the intelligence to research as you have done sure does help. You have a lot going on John and should be very proud!
You inspire me so much. It's a little silly, honestly. I'm actually so insanely thrilled to be starting my own Apache County, Arizona homestead this year. The looks I keep getting are PRICELESS when I tell people I'm going to the desert to live in a tent and dig holes.... Maybe we'll cross paths in the future 😁
I'm going on my second year alone in Apachie County. I have been practicing permaculture and this year I able to dryland farm wheat and lentil. For animals I have quail. For gardens I have hydroponics because it never fails.
I’m trying to plan my escape , looking into land and camper and so on, want to be completely off grid. From Arizona too!
You got it
John, totally inspired. I love your Channel. We move off grid next Month in West Texas Desert, just below you.
Do you know what it comes down to,you believe in yourself💯
What a beautiful intro! Thank you SO much for sharing! So helpguk
Glad it was helpful!
You have done wonders around your homestead.
Wow. That is awesome you built your own bailer.
I love it, saved me so much, I haven't bought hay since. Not that I won't.
Nice job !
Thanks for the visit
Bro love the way you 💬 think and thank you for sharing really cool 😎😎😎
Keep up the good work John.
Dear sir, you are so delightful and amazing. Love watching your videos.
Keeping you and animals lifted in prayer To The Most High, Always
Wow…you were born for this stuff. It’s strange in life that circumstances lead our thoughts in certain directions and YOU acted on them and wow…look what you’re accomplishing. You’re life now is sooooo colourful (in Australia, that’s how we spell it), animals, bees, plants, trees. Keeps your mind active and imaginative. So impressed with your resourcefulness. Good for you.
You're doing great! I love watching your progress and learning from you. Congrats on 3 years! 💜
Thank you
I'm going to put u in the best IQ catagory. Mind u i have not got carried away but I'm simply awe-struck.
Dude, you have nice set up and some nice tools for only starting with 6K 3 yrs ago, how you making $$$ to afford all this.
People used to build ice houses to keep cool but it would
be well sealed. I'm wondering if a person could make such an ice house to keep cool in the summer 😂
Hey thx for taking the time to make the video I enjoy it
We have been off grid in Arizona for three years and have not done so much...mostly trying to survive...lol
I understand that feeling
Great channel thanks for the library of great information. I’m also off grid in northern AZ this is my 2nd year out here and your videos have saved me lots of trial and error time, really appreciate it!
Happy to hear it
Love your content. My gf and I are going to look at land in Apache county this Friday to do exactly what you’re doing. Learning so much from you.
apache trout like it warmer, talk to a fishery because they're hard to find in the wild
Dude, you give me so much hope that I can honestead❤
Great! Happy to hear it
Congratulations to your three years off grid. 🎉🎈While some say it can't be done you are proving that it can be done. 👍
Doing a great job John 😊
Love to see what you’ve accomplished. We’re starting our homestead on 5 acres that we purchased in Luna county New Mexico. We’ve (my fiancé and I) learned SOO much watching your channel and it helps that we live in relatively similar climates.
You truly are living ‘The dream’ and we can’t wait to be doing the same.
Awesome Dylan, I'm happy to see more people doing their own research and finding land that will work for them. Congratulations
Bravo Monsieur
You’re living the dream! ❤ I’m in az too, hoping to do something similar someday!
Congrats and keep on motivating !!!
Love everything you are doing ! You should look into building with Cobb !
High fives and happy dances for your first 3 years!
Thank you Trisha. I think you're going to love the info coming up about my alternative septic system.
Always wanted to start a homestead, I have 20acher in Apache county thats agricultural land. Just haven't done anything with it yet, living in Delaware still. Hopefully one day I'll make it to my land.
Very cool!
Thanks Richie
Inspired
Good!
You have done so much in such little time! You are an incredible inspiration! June 1st my wife and daughter are going to join me full time off grid! I can only hope that I can be as far along in my journey as you are within 3 years! Congrats and keep on keepin on!
Thanks
Enjoyed the video very much.
Your inspiring bro. Been watching your videos!
Looks good.
You’ve accomplished so much it’s inspiring. Thanks for teaching us how to be resourceful and creative problem solve. What’s the best way to find homestead land? Landwatch and similar sites or via a realtor?
I really like discount lots, there's a 10% off discount in the description. If you can pay cash sometimes a simple Google search will do. I did my own research and found the best place for me. There's great land all over the U.S.
I love hearing the birds-Mockingbird or Brown Thrasher? Do you have a vid on your elevation and general location and acreage? (Cost etc?)
Very impressive!
Looks great.
I'm extremely impressed with your skills and what you've accomplished on your homestead. Nice work. You seem to have a great balance of intelligence, common sense and braun. Rare combination my friend.
I've followed you from the beginning, when you were TikTok.🤗♥️ You've come a long way. 💕💕
Appreciate it kooky
I'm a new subscriber and I'm so glad I found you! I just acquired some high desert land in Southern Utah and I am currently sitting next to my tent envisioning my homestead. Thanks for the inspiration. I have a crush on you now. Lol
Congratulations! And welcome! I remember that feeling. It was uncertain and great.
You continue to amaze me with all that you are doing. I work hard every day on my 5 acre home and love it. I'm connected to city resources, thank goodness as I'm a little too old to rough it now lol. I love seeing you develop systems and I'm taking away ideas I can implement here. Thanks John, love your blue tea and your videos. (I now grow blue pea flowers used in your tea blend).
I appreciate you following along. I have some germinating now, I planted roses and a few other herbs as well.
😮 Amazing! You're such an inspiration.
Very nice
Thank you
I'm so glad that I found your channel.
Great job, wish you the very best.
Hi John, looking forward to the fish.
Incredible - That's what u'v done. U hv no idea who u r. Ofcourse I'm fooling but this phase perfectly fits u all PPL. - Where there's a Will there's a way. That one can live here is mind-boggling n u hv toiledto get to this level . Very Very Inspiring Video. Phenomenal.❤
Obviously you are thriving. Its amazing what 1 determined person can accomplish.
Out of your acomplishments, what has been your favorite? Or which has made the largest impact? My guess has got to be the amount of water you have collected in the desert.
We are also growing goji berries, both black and red. I am looking forward to trying them fresh. Thinking of them as a cash crop since people are willing to pay so much for them.
Generally, the rain water harvesting and storing system.
I had 1 berry so far lol. I'm sure I tried it way to early because it tasted like a bitter tomatoe.
Proud of you John you are definitely inspiring.
Thanks for visiting my channel
congrats to you! You put in a lot of hard work!
Let’s Gooo!!! 💪🏻✌🏻#motivation #offgridlife #sustainableliving
🤠
Great, I'm glad to see that you went for it. i hope you continue to do well.
Love seeing what you’ve done! I’m researching off grid living. I’m anxious to be doing it in the near future! Currently taking notes!
John, you cleaned up nice.
Where r yr friends. Do they come for a visit. Entrepreneur par excellence.
Just found your channel, and I am looking forward to watching your videos. I was curious if you were culling out the Juniper trees on your property. I was watching a video where ranches were removing them because they suck up a lot of water and are making it hard for other plants to grow.
You are inspiring. God bless
GM. I just found your channel this morning and wow, I'm impressed and encouraged! You mentioned financing a piece of land like yours w/10% off, where in AZ is this? I'm in SW AZ and looking to have something of my own. Thx!
I really like the green house. Have you ever seen the underground garden in California? Its really cool and your underground greenhouse reminds me of it
Hi John 👍🏼. 3yrs🎉😊
Salsa Shack.. 🙌
Habenaro, jalapeño, Serrano, tomatillo, cilantro, beefsteak tom, roma tom, evergreen tom, galapagos tom bunching onions and more. I love me some salsa.
Hi John, love seeing what you’ve done ❤
Do you have any close by neighbors? 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
How do I go about finding affordable land in az for off grid living I’ve been watching u since day one and you have accomplished so much in the few years
Great job! Very inspiring. My husband and I are about to start searching for land in Arizona. We are kinda nervous. If you had to do it all over again, would yiu still choose the county you are in or a different county in Arizona? I am looking for good weather. Not too hot, if possible. We are in Northern Cali.
I searched all of the U.S for the best place for me. I would do the same today and could wind up anywhere. No matter where you go there will be hurdles so It boils down to getting a good deal on land located where it will work for you.
How do you live, foodwise. We are at 7300 ft in Apache co. We have pigs, 4 goats, sheep, chickens, a duck. But we basically live out of the store. You said sem close. Jerusalem artichoke?. We couldn't get the artichokes to go. Do you water the crap out of them? Anyway, impressive.
You have a great place I have something similar planned we moved back to Phoenix Arizona February I plan on buying property 2024 Arizona has awesome deals on property and very relaxed on what you can do how much property you have if I may ask
I love what youre doing out there. I have two questions......Are you eating all that food, canning it or selling it? Also just wondering what county you found your homestead land?
What temperature is your under ground water run cooling line through there to control the temperature for your fish
That may be a good idea! I'll have to check but i imagine it's 5 to 10 degrees cooler, maybe more. Only it may be too far away.
I would like to know what part of Arizona your in. We live near Snowflake and are off grid
Would love to talk. For tilapia, solar hot water with black NSF coils?
Where is the place to buy land at
Noice congrats! How many acres do you have?
Hi how do you deal with the summer heat!
How do you keep the mice and rats away from your garden? I’m in Holbrook same dirt and no trees and they destroyed my garden last year 2023.
What are you going to use super worms for
Sorry I'm late to this channel, but it sounds like you didn't dig a well here? Is this western AZ?
Did you have previous experience in building stuff before you got out there?
Yea, I've been known to dabble in building stuff.
@@FrugalOffGrid definitely don’t look like your first rodeo 🤙🏾
How much does zoning affect your home, ??
Do you find your health (mental and physical) getting better now then when you had a 9-5 job 3 years ago?
I've lost about 150lbs and I feel pretty great. I think it's been good.
I’m curious about who you went through to buy your land?
Just a private seller
How many acres do you own?
Where do you live ? I live off grid in Concho Az. 80 acres
I have a grocery store right down the street from me. It's awesome and air conditioned
Cute
Love all your doing except the cruelty. The dog needs to be unchained.
I believe sometime back he had to keep one ties bc all 3 together get in fights. He rotates who’s on & who’s off. 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
We are on the same trajectory. We (Grow2ZeroFARMS) are 3yrs old, too (growing food, anyway).
Keep up the good work, homeboy!! 💪🏼❤️
Appreciate it. I'm content today but I will enjoy seeing these trees grow.
