Haha. That's my quality acting skills! When I actually first tried the addon there was a near constant stream of swearing at how great I thought it was! 😅
I mean I personally love addons when they make life a bit easier. But this one isn't just a "bit" easier, it makes some really annoying tasks so simple to do
So I already have conform object and still trying to figure out how to get it to work in certain situations. But my question for this one is does it still work well on filled 3d objects that aren't open like that one. Like for example a space marine arm or something like that, or is that too complex?
I'm going to do a second video on that sort of situation. So it needs to be just a surface but I just pick the section I want and then copy that as a new object and use that to do it too.
is there any free alternative to this? im having trouble with wrapping usign modifiers and lattices on more complex mesh shapes, sadly i cant affort this right now and there are not tutorials addressing the kind of work i need to do
@@ArtisansofVaul thats the modifier im using, i just dont know how to completely wrap on 90° angles, on flatter surfaces it does the work but this plug ins look like magic tbh Lol
This looks like an amazing addon. Curious - would this work with some interwoven detail on a column capital for example or will it smoosh it down flat to the grid?
As has been said it's quite different in the way it will deform. I can see similarities here bur if you also watch the video on the banner you can see how different it is: ua-cam.com/video/HkTr713OG5M/v-deo.html
They work in very different ways but there is definitely some overlap which means in a lot of instances you could use one in place of the other (also depending on your perference). I think Flowify has much nice options for precise placement and sizing, especially of you are going to Flowity multiple elements onto the same mesh. I personally also find it easier to edit (though that is of course based on each person's preferences).
@@ArtisansofVaul They work not in very different ways. ) Flowify uses quad plane, Mesh Mat-r uses UV (even no properly unwrapped and that is why it has no limitations of target object). So, you have one more topic to next video: to compare Flowify, Mesh Materializer and Conform Object. )
Subbing to this channel is the absolute best thing I've done with my time on youtube. Every single video is a major time save in the future. Thank you brother, honestly.
What other addons do you mean? The ones I mention? I will do videos on those but Conform Object is based more on projection from what I can tell. The UV mapping requires a UV map and getting everything to remain proportional/the correct shape relative to the surface can be harder but it will work on a surface of any shape.
Yeah this is a massive timesaver. Cheers for showing it off!
My pleasure. I couldn't quite believe how easy this made this when I first used it.
The PFFFT sound at 9:07 gives away just how truly impressed you are with this add on

Add on reaction videos when? 😂
@@richardokeeffe8375 lmao. That would probably get my account banned for offensive language 😅
I have been a bit resistant to loading Blender up with add-ons, but this one is a cracker!

Can you apply the Flowified object and then use it as a Boolean?
This is an instant buy - thanks!
👍🏻 I thought exactly thr same when I found it

@Rockmih Other than trying to shrinkwrap haven't found anything. It's good but nothing compares to this....

@@Rockmih Yeah, it really falls down when you have a sharp corner unfortunately.
Absolute game changer!!!!!!!
I couldn't agree more!
I dont have this "Create Source Grid from Target Surface" button :( Using 1.0v of the addon :((
The update has it. Go to Blender Market and your orders section to download the update.
I love this one, still trying to get the grips of it but it has so many useful small fixes that can annoy me in Vanillia.
Totally 👍🏻😁
Does deleting the original piece effect the duplication on the intended piece.
To be honest I'm not sure as I always just hide it so I can edit later if needed. I can try it out and let you know.

If the source has height detail, it might be distorted somewhat, but that dial AoV showed that lets you control thickness is really helpful with that.
As has been said it should be fine as you have a height option and as long as you've applied the scale.
Great video, hey what version of Blender are you using? Love your videos keep of the good work.
Thanks man. I'm pretty sure this was filmed on 4.0.1.
What are the benefits of using this over the curve modifier? (I think they pretty much do the same thing?)
no curves here, just 2 meshes. If you referred to surface deform modifier, he addresses that at 1:00
@@eitantal726thank you for clarifiying :)

do i need to really subdivide the mesh this much 8 (
@FullCaber the more you subdivide the "smoother" it will be but that's totally up to you.
i cant get my object to stick to the source grid
I'm not sure what you mean by "stick" to the source grid?
it doesnt move with the grid, like its not connected to it@@ArtisansofVaul
spent all day, cant get it to work@@ArtisansofVaul
No more suffering from trims/designs on armors and the likes.

@ComplexTagret Already on this list but I want to make a video just on mesh materializer first.
@@ArtisansofVaul I'm glad to hear that! Mesh Mat-r shows itself greatly on organic complex shapes. Just use UV (even "draft" one) for target object.

Thanks so much John. Glad you're finding the content valuable 😁
my blender crashes when i use the addon :c
Hmm... what version of Blender are you using? I've used it quite a bit over the last few weeks and haven't had that happen once....
Whats the difference to the other addon?
