  • Did you know a Nalgene bottle filled with hot water can be used as a sleeping bag heater?
I do this when winter camping below -10C. I also suggest "preheating" your sleeping bag liner, bag and sleep clothing about 20 minutes before bed.

Safety Tip! I suggest placing the bottle on a flat surface before pouring hot water.
Also, a wide mouth bottle makes this step easier.

Great tips!! I fell asleep with a hot hand in my pocket last week. When I woke up I was like why is my leg so hot and I reached in there and found the culprit l!! He was removed before he wrecked the place

Given that as the water cools during the night, it will contract and pull the lid even tighter, has it ever leaked?

That's exactly why I recheck if it's tight throughout the night, I've never had to tighten more than maybe 1/16th of a turn, never had a leak
