Honestly, if I was a Gym Leader or Elite Four member, I’d definitely specialise in Fairy-type Pokémon. Then again, I’d get blasted by Steel and Poison.

i don't believe this has ever been mentioned in the games, outside of maybe sun and moon? though i think it just mentions being able to do the island challenge at 11. don't remember though, but the whole 10 year to be a pokemon trainer is just for the anime, not games.

Pokémon lore was so underdeveloped back then - there used to be connections to the *REAL WORLD* and shit. Lore is being constantly developed and retconned every year, mate. If there are kids much younger than you being able to battle with Pokémon, I don't see why Poppy can't be an Elite Four member. Also, Acerola exists - yeah, she's older, but she's still a kid that's amongst the Elite Four of her region.
