Heart breaks for Ntamack. As much as France is in a dicey position because of his injury, you gotta imagine it’s eating him up inside to be missing what was supposed to be his coronation on his home turf.
Ntamack will just have to accomplish his destiny and win the WC in 2027 to be the new Dan carter
@@kimok4716 For me, the biggest absence for France is Emmanuel Meafou probably the most powerfull lock in the World. He will be eligible next december.

@@MusMasi He was injured this summer, but he returned to competition two weeks ago in the French Top 14. He cannot be selected for France.
As a foreigner arrived in France in november 2018 he will be eligible in december 2023, too late for only two months !

Nice tribute to Guirado, as i always remember him bravely facing cruel interviews after even more cruel defeats. He was an admirable captain during the worst France rugby era (2015-2019). It's now Dupont mission to transform the Nederlands of rugby into truly French Champions.

Genuinely hope France win. The only possible outcome that might change that is if it's France vs England in the final, but that would require something inexplicable to happen (for england). Les Blues sont la meilleur equipe du monde maintenant et avec toutes des jeux en la France, cette sera un realisation extraordinaire. Cependant je pense que l'équipe a une problème contre les equipes T2, et peut faire auto destruction sans raision. Pardon pour ma français je ne pratique plus!

@@Chris-cb4ig Mon dieu à quel point tu fais honte à notre pays. Des nations comme le Pays de Galles prouvent que le nombre de licenciés ça ne veut pas dire grand chose.
On est jamais aussi fort que quand on a une grosse opposition, j'espère que les nations du sud (comme celles du nord) continueront à montrer leur meilleur niveau et que la France réussira à les battre malgré tout, comme on l'a fait ces dernières années. Le but c'est de faire du Rugby un grand sport, et d'en être le meilleur, pas d'être le plus gros poisson d'une toute petite mare. Une grande équipe de France qui bat de grands adversaires vaut mieux qu'une équipe de France moyenne qui bat des adversaires médiocres.

France vs Boks Final will be one for the ages. As a Bok fan, France is the only team I would not mind too much losing a final to. They have been my favourite team to watch since my first RWC in 1995 where I watched the Boks beat France in a rain soaked Kingspark

Sad not to see Ntamack in the RWC - think of the all the plays you won't be able to marry - but I think you're correct that his absence won't cripple France. As utterly brilliant as the Ntamack-Dupont duo is, they never rely exclusively on each other and that ability to bring so many team members onto their wave length is what makes France such an absolute joy to watch.
Thank you so SO MUCH for all of your work in the run-up to World Cup!! I can't even imagine the amount of work that went to it but we appreciate it. No one else has quite the same ability to combine keen analyses with such utter love of the game.
I'm proud to call France my second team after having lived here for two years. One of my favourite memories of watching rugby was in 2021 watching France vs New Zealand in a bar in Madrid with two French friends. We were the only French supporters there, the rest happened to be New Zealanders. We sang the anthem loud and proud, attracting some wry smiles... but by the end of the match, we were the ones smiling! Everyone else was sitting there stunned. Allez les bleus !!!

I can't stress how gutted I still am for Guirado. He was one hell of a player and he never got the career he deserved because of how dismal French Rugby used to be when he was captain.
An aura of losing. For many games Picamoles and Bastareaud were the only consistent bright lights in a dying french team.
Eventually he won the championship in his final year, a nice ending for a big man !

As a South African, I hope France beats New Zealand in the opening game. That said, I've got a feeling NZ are going to be on fire as a comeback game after the loss to SA. Either way it falls, can't wait.

I think NZ would have won given Frances injuries if Jordie Barret was playing but now with him out they've also lost their spine and it's more 50/50
Whatever happens, I just hope we don't have to face NZ until the final. That being said, we need to get out of the group first!

You forget the option Ramos 10 (+Jaminet15) to replace N'tamack.
He is well connected with Dupont, they've won 2 top14 finals like that.
AS a French guy i feel that your analysis on the French team in terms of spirit and the question "which team is coming up" is very much accurate of what French fans have asked for years !
Also a great tribute to Guirado who has been through much, often not of his own fault and has taken so much Flak, much more than deserved !!

Among all the teams that never won it, France deserves its World Cup so badly... 3 finals (2011 was really hard to take, 1995 semi too), a joy to watch over the last four years... Ok, I may be biased as a frenchie myself. :)

1995 semi is the biggest WC joke, all was made to let win SA with Mandela.
@@Friton3v1 Oh 2011 was also quite bad, the ref was absolutely outrageously biased towards NZ - he wanted them to win at home.

Such a bummer for Ntamack. Another injury that could play a big part is that of Cyril Baille, he's miles above any other loosehead prop in France.. But I still believe we can do this, allez les petits !!
Dupont/N'tamack are probably the best half-backs duo, playing together all year long, since 2017.
Without N'tamack, I don't know how we gonna win this year ... If Dupont is the mind, N'tamack is the spirit of this team.

Ntamack is a big loss but with Jalibert and Hastoy or even Ramos, we have very good options to replace him. I'm more concerned by the absence of Danty and Willemse as we don't have so many options.

Let's be fair: in 2007 refs were not too harsh on us. Home world cup means you have the support of the crowd and some support of the refs too. I just hope it's less blatant this time

I feel you forgot one thing about the Dupont-Ntamack pair, it is their wonderful association with the third playmaker of both Toulouse and the XV de France, ie Thomas Ramos who sometimes appears to be telepathically linked to Ntamack.

Just come to the realisation that the rugby world cup is biased against the French. Who can see that the 2011 world cup final and not see that literally zero penalty was accorded within the New Zealand camp when it has never happened before? When the French were the best disciplined team on the field. When the captain was grabbing the ball laying down on his side in front of the referee's eyes and he didn't bugged... He did nothing! Even when Richy McCaw could not believe that the referee would allow him to do that. But he did.... And the referee said nothing... The rugby world is evidently biased against France. Look at the footage and face the facts. And this is not a single occurrence in the history of rugby....
I don't understand why this is not considered as the worst page of rugby history. This was just the most outrageous final in rugby history.
