    It really sucks that Ntamack's moment of brilliance didn't result in a try, would've been one of the most epic tries ever scored

      Squidge butt, if you want to see a similar move in a similar sport resulting in a try, find the Sea Eagles 110m try from the NRL against the Cowboys, finished by Tom Trbojevic. A thing of real beauty.

    I am old.
    There are many disadvantages to being old but one advantage is remembering the great French teams of Blanco, Sella, Rives and Camberabero.
    As an Englishman and a rugby man I am simultaneously overjoyed and terrified by this French team. They play like France used to but with a greater degree of tactical awareness.
    This is a team that could score from anywhere.
    This is a team that could score 'The try from the end of the world.'
    That is both glorious and terrifying.

I really want wales to win the world cup but I must agree, as our team isn't completely up to scratch right now I'd be happy to see the boks win it once again, they're the only team I'd root for over everyone except wales

      Best 9/10 combo in the world at the moment? I would say so. I think Quirke/Smith could be great for England, but they haven't proven it yet. Faf is still a world-class number 9, but the Bok 10 is always more of the "master tactician" variety, rather than "batshit insane while I smoke a Gauloise" kind.

    great video, as always. two things I wanted to point out.
    1. just before the Jordy Barrett kick that triggered the incredible Ntamack passage of play, Mo'unga throws an incredible pass that ended up being crually overlooked (pointed out on Twitter by Ovale Masqué, I honestly hadn't noticed it either).
    2. regarding your analysis of the whole Autumn series, I wonder if France is not by far the only of the top 8 or 10 teams to have gone to such an extensive overhaul of the rooster. I think Willemsee is our oldest player at 28, and there are a lot of guys with very few caps, so that means that this team is all up and coming. the All Black team is almost the opposite, with a lot of old-timers, and the same could be said (to a certain extend) about the Irish team (wonder how they'll do the day Johnny Sexton retires). any opinions there?

    • @luobomu9747
      @luobomu9747 2 роки тому +34

      And I would like to add that when Ntamack starts to take off from his own in-goal area, Dupont immediately sprints for a support line. While the rest of us are going: "What's Ntamack doing?!" Dupont is already thinking: "Shit's on!". What chemistry!
      Oh, and Melvyn Jaminet, who to me appeared out of nowhere, sort of actually did - he played in France's SECOND division last year*! Now he's playing like a seasoned international and slotting kicks like they're nothing!
      *This year Perpignan is back in the Pro14.

      Interesting point on Sexton. He can’t surely make it to the WC. That and the fact they’ve been here before and still went out early doors last time.I really wish we could have seen Ireland and France play SA. No disrespect to the ABs, but SA are the ultimate test right now. I’m not getting carried away that England won either because, erm, Pollard. France and SA are my favourites for the next WC.

    • @yE6sniping
      @yE6sniping 2 роки тому +7

      I disagree with your second point. The abs have a lot of new players. Vaa’i, Papalii, Blackadder, Samisone, Lord, Christie, Tupaea, Jordan to name a few. Sure they have some experience too, but it’s a pretty balanced team in regards to development.

    • @xguilbert
      @xguilbert 2 роки тому +5

      @@yE6sniping you're absolutely right, and there is a lot of exciting talent there. the funny thing is, when I think about it I can see the new additions, but there's so much of the "usual suspects" on any given fixtures that it's difficult to see the change. and it's a bit surprising to see that Forster selected mostly veteran players to play against the French, especially when everybody was complaining that the tour was long and tiring. for me, there's the same puzzling feeling to see Aaron Smith play yet again (from a development point of view) as to see that Sexton is the only go-to option for the Irish at number 10.

    • @s2561828
      @s2561828 2 роки тому +3

      Also, Jordie Barrett after his kick instead of sprinting up in defence to form a line with the other two defenders, he slows to a jog which allows Ntamack enough space to have options, which he was good enough to take.
      Hopefully that mentally of always adding maximum pressure is something Jordie can add to his game.

    There is a big oversight here which is also the reason for this renewed level of the French National Team: The very high level of the French pro Rugby championship, the famous TOP14.
    It is for me currently the best and most difficult professional Rugby championship in the world, ahead also of the southern championships like the Seven.
    We must imagine for example that currently the last 3 teams of the TOP14, Brives, Perpignan and Biarritz are very good teams which would do much better in any other pro championship in the world. But the level of the current TOP14 is so big and high and the 11 other teams in front of these 3 so strong that these 3 teams must fight not to finish in the last 2 and go down next year in "Pro D2" the pro championship of second division which is also of a very high level championship.

      @@garethrichmond4388 the main problem of the last decade, in my opinion, was the way too big influence of Bernard Laporte in FFR and as a State Secretary in Sports and Youth.
      He was a great commentator, especially during the legendary match against the All Blacks in 1999 World Cup (a game that can only be listened in French), and he brought us to the top at the same time as the English team when he managed the team. But he did bad to rugby afterwise. Because we had great players the last decade (Dusautoir, Clerc, Médard, Parra, Chat,...), we had a bad management that didn't give enough freedom to our players.
      Also, I think it was hard for many players to accept what happened in Auckland in 2011.
      Now, we have a promising team with plenty of experience remaining to gain, a VI Nations title to get, and why not a Grand Slam. As for the World Cup, it's hard to tell, the team often shines but never goes the distance.

    As an All Black supporter it's good to see that everyone else is seeing the lack of creativity and structure in our attack. We seem to be in a constant battle to try and beat other teams to the edge through speed of ruck ball alone. It's almost as if we're trying to get to two phases of lightning quick ball to create an overlap on the edge & as you rightly point out we just look to play 'hands' to get the ball to the outside. This would work fine if we were denting the line on first phase *** cough Ngani Laumape cough ***, but our midfielders aren't those types of players. We need to use far more creativity and structured attack to at least paint a picture to the defence that we're running multi option phase attack to create some stress on them. Teams add a back anchor and then either a front anchor (outside of the front lifter)which creates the rounder wider mauls or a hammer in between the +1 and front lifter. The rest of the players all aim to add length. With additional players binding either side of the ball or passing it back.
