I think that, like the Targaryen madness, was the the result of inbreeding. In the original series, Illyrio Mopatis (who gifted Dany the dragon eggs) says they were from the Shadow Lands beyond Asshai, meaning they could’ve been layed by wild dragons instead of the tamed, Valyrian ones. The original dragons, Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes, were massive, dominating creatures. The last dragon was no larger than a dog and deformed and died quickly. There was a trend of the Targaryen dragons (and themselves) becoming less powerful because of the inbreeding.
@@goodgirlvhagar inbreeding? Dragons aren't people, it's because they got contained and couldn't "free range" like thier ancestors did which is why thier health and size are messed up.

Paddy perfectly summarizes the iron throne. One can never sit comfortably in the seat of absolute power (the iron throne). Both figuratively and literally. Aegon the Conqueror wanted his successors to be keenly aware of that.
It was so cute how stubborn the princess's dragon was, when the guy was asking her to go into the cave, the dragon was like...don't rush me. So and beautiful. Like her rider♥️♥️😂😂
I can already tell that this is going to be awesome. For me, there are 2 things that make Game of Thrones superior to many other fantasy shows out there (especially those that are going to be coming out soon): 1) It takes itself very seriously. Everything in the source material is taken seriously and adapted respectfully (perhaps not some of the characters, but that's okay). It was always exciting to watch Game of Thrones in the past because it was a show so full of drama that you almost forgot that it was a fantasy story... until you saw a dragon flying through the sky, or a white walker creeping through the Haunted Forest. Regardles,, what kept the show so viscerating was the story itself, specifically the characters that pushed it forward, which brings me to... 2) The characters. I love the fact that George says that every good story leads with characters, and that there is nothing more interesting than how characters often have to grapple with, and perhaps even eventually overcome, the conflicts within their own individual hearts. It is precisely the reason why Game of Thrones is so compelling. We don't really care about the fact that Tyrion is a dwarf (not as much as Tywin does anyway), but we are interested in how Tyrion has to navigate his life and political career whilst dealing with that fact, especially since people around him perceive him negatively because of it. Is he the monster that everyone says that he is, or is he a good guy that can't catch a break? The show was more clear to answer that question with a 'no', but I love the fact that the books are more ambivalent about it. Tyrion in the books really has to answer this question by himself, and it is a journey - an interesting journey. I specifically love it because that's exactly how it is in real life. We're all capable of being monsters just as much as we're all capable of being the perfect angels. One moment we're doing something really good and compassionate, and then the next we're doing something selfish and unkind. Sometimes we're honest and open, other times we're manipulative and deceitful. We're both sides of the same coin, the devil and the god both. We're complicated creatures us humans, and I love the fact that George's work reflects that. Anyway, I'm looking forward to this show. Can't wait til' next week.

@@Kunumbah1 I woudn't go so far. His reign was generally peacefull, he maintained the status quo of Jaehaerys I (arguably the best king westeros ever had) and his biggest mistake, letting the seeds of the Dance sown in his gradfathers reign bloom, was arguably more of a crime of omission than malice. He wasnt a great king, not even a good one, but compared to Maegors unfettered shit show I'd say it wasnt that bad. The wrong man at the wrong time, but thats about it
@@felipeneves7260 Maegor was a man of action. Jahaerys would not have been able to negotiate the way he did at his young age if Maegor didn’t bend the seven kingdoms over his lap and whoop them into submission. Aegon may have conquered Westeros but Maegor “Conquered” Westeros and placed fear and anxiety into the hearts of every man woman and child in the kingdoms. Even saying all that yeah Maegor is still a lower ranked king but I wouldn’t have him at the bottom of the list he certainly wasn’t irrational. Jahaerys did everything right concerning the succession. People kept glossing over the fact that if he had made Rhaenys his heir then Daemon would’ve instigated a Civil war without a doubt. Names are powerful and when the ruling royal family goes from Targaeryan to Velaryon and passes through the female line in a male-dominated society then those male claimants with the name Targaeryan will always have a claim. This creates a scenario where as the ruling female monarch or descendant of one you either have to snuff those claimants out or live with the fear of them starting a civil war and this same problem is in the heads of those claimants even if they don’t want to start a war… which guarantees war. Jahaerys calling for a great council was the most intelligent solution because not only is voting a practical way to choose a ruler but it also clearly shows what sides each lord would choose in an inevitable war. Now again, even after saying all that by the rights of Westeros succession a daughter of the first son always comes before her uncle. Rhaenys is the rightful ruler of Westeros before Baelon and Viserys and i think Jahaerys impulsively naming Baelon his heir was the worst decision of his reign because it solidified Viserys claim and gave him a chance to dispute the succession. Anyways Viserys won and I don’t think he cheated neither. The Velaryons were just as wealthy and could’ve bribed as many houses as the Hightowers did. Viserys won because he was a man in a male-dominated society it might’ve not been 20-1 but I do think he won and I think it was substantial let’s say 10-5. Book viserys is the worst king by a small margin because of his foolish decision to bypass every single law in Westeros, every Valyrian law, every religious law, every andal law, and every first man law to make his daughter the heir before his son. You can make your daughter the heir before her uncle and your brother ok cool that goes with most Westeros laws. In the books Alys Karstark is the heir after Robb killed her father and her brothers died in the war of the five kings. Her uncle and cousins try to dispute this but by Westeros law a daughter comes before an uncle and male cousin. Even though the verdict in the Council of 101 was that a male comes before a female and that was what put Viserys on the throne in the first place and Daemon should be the heir instead of Rhaenyra. That situation is whatever Daemon had no support besides the velaryons so he would’ve lost the civil war and in regular Westeros succession Rhaenyra would’ve came before him anyways. But to keep Rhaenyra as your heir after the birth of a son is the most illogical and foolish decision in the entire series. By far worse than every other action by any king from Maegor burning the sept to Aerys burning Ned Stark’s dad. It’s the worst decision because of what I stated earlier, it guarantees a Civil war. There is no precedent and no law in the seven kingdoms except among the foreign Rhoynar in Dorne. In every generation you have two-way anxious thoughts about the other side trying to kill you because you don’t want them to start a civil war. Even if the first generation of Aegon II, Aemond (Who am I kidding), and Daeron didn’t start a civil war what about their male sons? What about if those male sons become dragonriders. That means I’m ever generation the problem is compounded you have more dragon-riding male claimants running around with the name Targaeryan while your name is Velaryon or Velaryon-Targaeryan. What viserys did was far worse than what Jahaerys did and he took no initiative to stop the problem like Jahaerys did by calling the great council. What he did was worse than Aegon the Unworthy because these are true-born dragonriding male claimants and not just some legitimized bastards. He was literally about to start the doom of Valyria in Westeros (Atleast the civil war dragonriding parts not the volcanic eruption or faceless men). So sorry for that tangent but yeah book viserys with no context is the worst king in Westeros. I like that the show is giving more meaning behind his actions like the prophecies and shit because the history book make him look like a fool.
@Paddy Bateman Wait thats a good point actually, why didin't they do that? Was Rhaenys already married to Corlys when Harrenhall happened? I can't remember
@@kjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj I’m still reading the books but I was under the impression that the chaos that erupted during his reign was not entirely of his doing or derived from his actions. I assumed he actually tried to maintain the balance of power during his reign and preserve the legacy of stability his predecessor brought.

The wrong man at the wrong time, but thats about it
@@Kunumbah1 Nah man the worse King's place is really tough
I think Aegon The Unworthy, Aerys The Mad King, and Robert Baratheon are great contenders
I just can’t wait for all the renditions of Targaryens theme.
Rhaenyra’s actress is so adorable an absolute beauty.
Finally they show the hills in King's Landing. The dragonpit looks awesome!
It’s nice to finally watch someone competent sit on the iron throne.
competent? the dance of dragons was almost all his fault
You should read about argon the first, jahaerys, and many others because viserys was called the unworthy lol
@@anisbenammar7864 Aegon IV was called the Unworthy
@@mesa9724 Him marrying Alicent and having multiple sons with her is one of the biggest catalysts that contributed to the Dance.
Sword fighting....Dragons fighting, Religious smiting I missed you truly GOT
Looks like another winner of a show.
Jessica Bailey. Ur saying absolutely right.
Can't wait for this to begin. ❤️
I'm going to love this show!! Fire Will Reign🔥🔥
This show is so freaking awesome. I’m hooked after watching the first episode.
I am living for Ramin's new score.
It's fascinating to see how the Dragons' attitude reflects the same with characters. It's amazing ❤️
Such a good decision to cast Milly Alcock. She's amazing in every role she's been in. Give her a background role and does what's required, but give her the chance to shine and she practically blind you. Make her queen and... well, I can't wait to see!
Just came back to say... Ha! Told you so! She absolutely smashed it out of the park, as I knew she would. So glad that so many more people have now seen what she can do.
I have rewatched the Game of Thrones 9 times
Can’t wait for this new season .
i wish this is like before how got was in season 1-5
There is full story source material from GRRM for this one, all they have to do is fill in details.
LITERAL NO PUEDO ESPERAR A VER ESTE SERIE. NUNCA HABÍA TENIDO TANTO HYPE POR UN SHOW DE TV. FIRE AND BLOOD 🔥
Matt Smith still looks like something out of Star Trek
Certainly looking forward to giving this a try.
I couldn't wait any longer. 💗
I love how the new throne looks
I've never seen a TV show that looks delicious 🙌🔥🔥🔥
Looks good, just hope they don’t try and whitewash Rhaenyra as the interesting thing about the dance is almost all the main characters are very grey
This is really about to be better than GoT. Uber excited to watch what’s in store
I’m sure it is gonna be epic, can’t wait!
Been a fan of Paddy since a room for romeo brass, so really happy to see him on the iron throne.
I was so pissed about Season 8 and swore to never watch anything related to GOT because of what D& D did. ....yet here I am hyped as ever thanking the gods those two arent involved.
Everything is so on point!!!!!! Before this show has even come out!!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Looks like I’m renewing my HBO membership!
my heart stopped at 0:50, i thought i saw Dany, my queen 😢
I heard the Targaryen theme and nearly cried
Rhaenyra and Alicent at the weirwood grove like best friends makes my heart hurt...
Can't wait! It will be 🔥🔥🔥
Love From India 🇮🇳❤️
At first, I didn't want to watch this series because I felt so disappointed by the end of GOT... But now, I cannot wait!
Can we just appreciate how dope King Viserys is
Initially I wasn't drawn to GOT because of all the hype but I after started watching one episode after the other, the binge watching steadily grew and I finished the series just a few months ago and now I hooked. Hook, line and sinker.
really hoping these 11 days zoom by. super ready to watch 😭
I love how the dragons fly over and no one looks up or cares. This shows how used to the dragons the small folk are. Compare that scene to when Daenerys comes to Kings Landing.
Can't wait for the opening/ intro.
Rhaenyra dragon Syrax looks Amazing 🔥🐉
I hope you guys keep up the good work till the end, unlike the original GoT. If so, you have fully redeemed the franchise! So far, I think you guys are doing a better job than the original! God the acting by Paddy is surreal!
My heart is beating fast it's getting intense!!!
This gives me the early Game of Throne seasons vibes. Cannot wait!
Daemon:Brother
Viserys i :daemon
Such a awkward moments😅
If I wasn't already a Game of Thrones fan I'd still watch this just for Paddy Considine
The perfect series to watch and get hyped! than that rings of power show or something
2:48 man's got no harness on, call OSHA
Can’t wait to hear and see corleys
After hearing that jon snow will have a spin-off sequel in the form of a season 9 this will only make me happyer. If the show prison break has managed to come up with a new season after so many years, the best series of all time can do this too to get a redemption arc.
