No he hasn't, who said he's underrated? Paddy was their first choice for this role, and people/critics have been raving about his performance as King Viserys. Paddy actually improves on the character quite a bit, even George R. R. Martin prefers Paddy's portrayal of King Viserys over the version from his own book. He's also been nominated for like, 50+ awards throughout his acting career (and won over half of the awards he's been nominated for), so he's definitely getting the recognition and respect he deserves for his work.

Paddy has such a jolly, jovial air about him, he frequently wears an expression like he just thought of a silly pun. Made him a brilliant Viserys, I can't applaud Paddy's performance enough. Give him all of the Emmys.!

I think ultimately this is a story about a failure to communicate. It's easy to be team Rhaeynra but Alicent does have a point when she quite diplomatically describes Rhaenyras children as plain faced. Alicent always played by the rules and she inherently hates Rhaeyra because she acts like the rules dont apply to her.

The writers have spoken with Martin too so we know what we're watching is the truth

Because in all the other times he's supposed to make a difficult decision as king, he shies away. Now he just makes the most difficult decision of his life in a pinch? It's uncharacteristic. It's probably more of him being obsessed with a male heir, which is shown many times in the episode. When Aemma said she won't do this pregnancy thing again, she signed her death warrant because Viserys will not give up having a male heir.
You had me till the end. Visarys legit loved his wife. He wouldn't have killed her intentionally for a male heir. Moreover, as is said in the episode, he is under the impression his wife was gonna die no matter what. So the choice was, let them both die, or try to save the baby. That being said, bot informing Emma and letting her make the call was messed up
