I know SFV is in the works but in my opinion this game is Capcom's PEEK of fighting games. This is probably the best STREET GAME made for fighting enthusiast
This video man, that was my first contact with 3rd Strike. The speed of the gameplay, the music, the amazing sprites, everything in this game feels so perfect.
This guy started off parrying Chun's special in mid-air. That was just too damn cool. I don't know who this cat playing Ryu is, but if I met him, I would have to ask him to teach me.
street fighter 3 is by far my favorite street fighter. Everything about it screams extreme street fighting, from the character animation, to the moves, to the soundtrack, to the technical parries. It's just superior.
One of the times I went to E3 which was actually E3 2004. I met the guy who created the parry system. They had a Third Strike cabinet at the Capcom exhibit and he was playing against anyone who wanted to challenge him. He was literally parrying everyone's attacks. It was so awesome. He would come out perfect everytime.
The counter system is one of the most ingenious elements to this franchise. Especially that lovely video of Daigo and Justin, thanks to that great system. Because of it, it can be anyone's game, always a possibility to come back.
I love how when Ryu sets his bag down it stays on the floor, even after the 1st round. The little details like that show me that they put thought into this game.
Parrying is a beautiful thing to watch. It's soo much fun to parry an entire super or an entire match like Ryu did against Dudley to make a come back. A Parry requires you to think outside the box, and not be so obvious with your attacks. SF4 still needs works, I'll still play it, but im dying for KOFXII and BlazBlue :-)
5:09 is what you came here to see, and it's close to the famous one except no instant payback. Still, not as good as what most would call the original. (Because surely someone somewhere already did that before the famous video.)
You know whats funny third strike is not a 6th sense game completely. Yes there is always a good guess or good read but with third strike its more about putting your opponent in a situation where you know they have limited option... and then you start to force them to do stupid stuff like a wake up upper or something that you can parry then punish. Its a mind game. The parry system really does put a cap on spamming but like anything else it takes practice.
+RevPsychobilly No because, it looks like an amazing fighting sequence, heavy hits, nice parries. Just an overall amazing bit. I totally Agree with Cemo.
There is no need for the negative thumbs down for that comment. Street Fighter IV is better for a more wider audience who don't want to learn such depth and technical complexity which is present in Third Strike. Point is, IV a lot easier to play than Third Strike but I am a fan of both, I've played IV and its very good. I like Third Strike also because you need to have such good skill and looks stunning!
@nyran125 No, its actually nothing like the focus system, you must press forward to parry mid/high (on EXACT impact) and must press down on low atks. but in the sense that it does take an attack (no chip or health is lost though) it allows you to follow up after it (the attack isnt automatic like a focus). Its very hard to master in the instance that you cannot simply spam forward or down because youll just end up walking forward into your opps combos, it can turn a fight around but its a gamble
That Dudley guy kept coming back for more. He wasn't too bad. Also, that Chun-Li block was mighty impressive. I guess Daigo's garnered more attention because it gave him a turnabout win whereas this guy was just dominating.
Still my favorite in the whole series. I can't even sit down and enjoy the newest releases, but this game always felt great.. even with crap 360 controllers it responded well.
@UpTballA ummm, just because someone didn't do anything in the air, doesn't mean it's rigged. Obviously he didn't think about doing that. He just wanted to jump. Whenever I jump in Street Fighter, almost half the time I don't attack.
The Ryu player is Tj. SFmaniac43 or something on SRK. Anyway hes from Pittsburgh. This is ancient video, before he was good. But even then he was a parrying god. He has uncanny parrying skills and concentration. He plays SF4 now and he's very good.
@SeventhSun whats wrong with keeping match folders? i like watching these videos..i wouldnt mind saving some of my favorites..ljust cause they are kinda fun and inspiring to watch
that was freaky awsome :-) It's like the version of ken performed by Daigo (the parry thing) How you must perform that, i know the button moves are back then forward but i cant parry the combo of chun li, can someone tell me, a tutorial vid would be cool
This guy is sick, perfect timing. I was curious of the grade for the last fight. I still make time for this game online. As well as about 4-5 other freaking capcom games. SF5 better bring back the parry. Dark souls thank you.
Daigo just made full parrying cool, I'm sure everyone has tried it before him, I'm sure alot of players can do it, but what he did at that moment without messing up and the combo he did after that will remain epic. And there's a difference in playing the game just to clown around and parry, and then parrying for a reason. This Ryu was just standing around trying to parry, Daigo would've mixed up combos in between the parries because he wants to win.
And then as far as parrying random combos you just have to watch their move patterns. Like some players will almost always get into a robotic like combo set that they have memorized, like medium sweep you as soon as you get back up followed by super combo etc.
@MercyVirus ive never really played much of the alpha series outside 3rd strike sadly :( i went from ST- 3rd strike- sf4. so those are my comparisons haha
actually in any street fighter game timing is what mattered on the persons attack so you could hit them back with whatever attack you would use which i always did in this game i never used the parry system even though i liked it but it really wasnt that much needed if the person knew both well of the parry and which move to use then he would be the hardest guy or girl to challenge thats how i look at it
the parry's were impressive indeed. But I guess the ryu player knew his opponent very well. Often times Dudley tried a basic combo and Ryu could parry it perfectly. The chun-li ending was awesome
this ryu player can really match up to daigo this player is good he even parry chun li's super art in mid air, an unexpected parry unlike daigos he expected chun li to do a super art
To any one who hasn't played this version of sf go back and pick it up on dreamcast or the anaversary collection for the xbox or ps2 hell even the cps emulator for PC i promise that you will love it.
can wait for sf3 online, im not that great at the game but would be nice to fight something other than the comp. Best street fighter game to date, parry system is awesome.
@noless theres a difference between training room and high pressure situation.... when daigo first did it justin was probably thinking he could at the very least chip him out.... instead daigo accepted the challenged and made it his worst decision
I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU PEOPLE SAY, THIS PERSON IS A DAMN PARRYING HERO!"!
lol a parrying hero
DAIGO-STYLE PARRYING AT 5:13 YEAH
JUST AS AMAZING AS IT WAS AT EVO
Nostalgia BOMB.
I still have this video on my hard drive.
Whooa sick composure especially when the Ryu player landed and continued to parry the Houyo. Very well done.
This guy started off parrying Chun's special in mid-air. That was just too damn cool.
I don't know who this cat playing Ryu is, but if I met him, I would have to ask him to teach me.
98 people got happy parried
Kind of late writing this, but this is pure gold, I learned a lot from these matches, thanks for the upload :)
street fighter 3 is by far my favorite street fighter. Everything about it screams extreme street fighting, from the character animation, to the moves, to the soundtrack, to the technical parries. It's just superior.
I never got too deep into the 3rd strike portion, but man watching these videos make me wish I did.
One of the times I went to E3 which was actually E3 2004. I met the guy who created the parry system. They had a Third Strike cabinet at the Capcom exhibit and he was playing against anyone who wanted to challenge him. He was literally parrying everyone's attacks. It was so awesome. He would come out perfect everytime.
i wouldve been mad as shit if i lost like this...
i love this vid !
can't stop watching it.
the ryu's player is damn good !
The guy who's playing with Ryu has awesome parrying skills
The counter system is one of the most ingenious elements to this franchise. Especially that lovely video of Daigo and Justin, thanks to that great system. Because of it, it can be anyone's game, always a possibility to come back.
Damn, the super art parry at the end was by far the best one I've ever seen.
I love how when Ryu sets his bag down it stays on the floor, even after the 1st round. The little details like that show me that they put thought into this game.
Damn the KO on Chun-li in the second round was legendary. Every aspect of it was cool.
THE SECOND MATCH WAS TO SICK YO!!! I seriously thought there would be a 3rd match. 10/5 man
Man, that Ryu sure is a badass when it comes to parrying.
Chivalry is dead bruh.
Ask Chun-Li.
HOLY SHIT THE DAIGO PARRY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i know i parry with ryu alot, but damn, this guy is on another level.
amazing comeback! WOW darn it dudley!
no man, this guy got that parry begging on a jump!! that is awesome!!
5:09 is what you came here to see, and it's close to the famous one except no instant payback. Still, not as good as what most would call the original. (Because surely someone somewhere already did that before the famous video.)
I'd Call It Better Than The Original Because He Parried It In the Air, While Foward Jumping.
@konohasappy 2d, this is sf3: 3rd strike, the only street fighters that were 3d at the time were the EX series
man I lovin this game. Seems like you have a lot more control over your character especially with ryu and ken
You know whats funny third strike is not a 6th sense game completely. Yes there is always a good guess or good read but with third strike its more about putting your opponent in a situation where you know they have limited option... and then you start to force them to do stupid stuff like a wake up upper or something that you can parry then punish. 3:53
fav part
cemo504 why?
+RevPsychobilly No because, it looks like an amazing fighting sequence, heavy hits, nice parries. Just an overall amazing bit. I totally Agree with Cemo.

good stuff I like to parry when ever I can. Makes the match fun.
That Dudley guy kept coming back for more. He wasn't too bad. Also, that Chun-Li block was mighty impressive. I guess Daigo's garnered more attention because it gave him a turnabout win whereas this guy was just dominating.
the ryu rocks! - nice parry skills!
Amazing stuff I enjoy watching it , I play street fighter but lets be honest not everybody has the same skills as others do .
Still my favorite in the whole series. I can't even sit down and enjoy the newest releases, but this game always felt great.. even with crap 360 controllers it responded well.
I'm having Daigo flashbacks seeing that Chunli Super Art parry
@UpTballA ummm, just because someone didn't do anything in the air, doesn't mean it's rigged. Obviously he didn't think about doing that. He just wanted to jump. Whenever I jump in Street Fighter, almost half the time I don't attack.
Well either forward or down, depending where the attack's landing.
Beastly, insane parrying, especially vs Chun Li's SA 2. He should be in tournaments! o_O
First fight looked like a warmup...but the later ones were pretty fun to watch.
The Ryu player is Tj. SFmaniac43 or something on SRK.
Anyway hes from Pittsburgh. This is ancient video, before he was good. But even then he was a parrying god. He has uncanny parrying skills and concentration.
He plays SF4 now and he's very good.
lol he pulled a Daigo on the last round
@SeventhSun whats wrong with keeping match folders? i like watching these videos..i wouldnt mind saving some of my favorites..ljust cause they are kinda fun and inspiring to watch
nice work, think that street fighter 3 had some of the best animations aswell
that was freaky awsome :-) It's like the version of ken performed by Daigo (the parry thing) How you must perform that, i know the button moves are back then forward but i cant parry the combo of chun li, can someone tell me, a tutorial vid would be cool
Chun-Li had to be like "OH WHAT THE HELL COME ON" right there, hahaha. Very nice playing from Ryu.
I like how this was planned out, but it's still interesting to watch
This guy is sick, perfect timing. I was curious of the grade for the last fight. I still make time for this game online. As well as about 4-5 other freaking capcom games. SF5 better bring back the parry. Dark souls thank you.
Those are some crazy ass parries he did at the end.
The Ryu player just paces himself throughout the fight. He has control over the entire match.
Very nice Vid, thx for upping
In that first fight where Ryu came back from no health was mental!
Daigo just made full parrying cool, I'm sure everyone has tried it before him, I'm sure alot of players can do it, but what he did at that moment without messing up and the combo he did after that will remain epic.
And there's a difference in playing the game just to clown around and parry, and then parrying for a reason. This Ryu was just standing around trying to parry, Daigo would've mixed up combos in between the parries because he wants to win.
so daigo isnt the only one who can do that full super parry. nice upload 5 star
hmmmm.... seems like daigo has some competition....... Great Job man
And then as far as parrying random combos you just have to watch their move patterns. Like some players will almost always get into a robotic like combo set that they have memorized, like medium sweep you as soon as you get back up followed by super combo etc.
"I wouldn't call that parry happ-HOLY MOTHER OF FLYING SINGLE PIXEL VICTORIES!"
that ryu was great. i love that chun li perry shit
Now this is how competitive 3rd Strike should look!
@MercyVirus ive never really played much of the alpha series outside 3rd strike sadly :(
i went from ST- 3rd strike- sf4. so those are my comparisons haha
@WizardPlayHD Not new. We have few players here able to use characters like Hugo to full parry all & carry out combo afterwhich.
wow...even more spectacular than daigo o_O
inari12700 That is a super jump. It is performed by quickly pressing down then up. It is done the same way in marvel vs capcom 2.
@WizardPlayHD Ryu: "I'm in your Street fighter, floating while parrying your Super."
An amazing display of talent !!
Great vid.
p.s. SF3 > SF4
Both are very cool games though.
That Ryu would not even give that Dudley a slice of bacon.
they need to put this on all three consoles
seriously i never played this one, yet it is the best one
actually in any street fighter game timing is what mattered on the persons attack so you could hit them back with whatever attack you would use which i always did in this game i never used the parry system even though i liked it but it really wasnt that much needed if the person knew both well of the parry and which move to use then he would be the hardest guy or girl to challenge thats how i look at it
simply awesome!
the comeback was freakin' awesome!
the parry's were impressive indeed. But I guess the ryu player knew his opponent very well. Often times Dudley tried a basic combo and Ryu could parry it perfectly. The chun-li ending was awesome
@MYDRAGGIN84 Pressing towards the opponent as they attack high, and pressing down when they attack low
Are all the characters from SF2 and their theme songs with in this game?
That is a fucking EPIC Ryu.
Ryu is the best and he'll always will be.
this ryu player can really match up to daigo this player is good he even parry chun li's super art in mid air, an unexpected parry unlike daigos he expected chun li to do a super art
To any one who hasn't played this version of sf go back and pick it up on dreamcast or the anaversary collection for the xbox or ps2 hell even the cps emulator for PC i promise that you will love it.
even with no health this ryu is fucking aggressive what a beast
The Beast unleashed!
I used to insert coins for this game... the sprites are so detailed
SICK!!! NOW THAT'S HOW YOU PLAY SF3!
@ 5:13 God Damn! Forget about that Daigo guy, Now that was the best parry I ever saw (O_O)
@seanj666 Sweet. I can't find that anniversary collection anywere lol.
tier lists are only based off which characters are winning at that time...so they vary at times
Amen brother, 4 looks good and all but Street fighter 3 has my heart
@hubrisrathhart
That would be SF3 4th strike, and honestly if they did, it'd probably tank commercially like 3s did.
This is the best street figter game. It plays the best!
@TheFinderBinder It's technically 8, but most characters' parries push them back so one of the hits miss.
That was a motherfucking great comeback in the 2nd round of the 1rst fight
can wait for sf3 online, im not that great at the game but would be nice to fight something other than the comp. Best street fighter game to date, parry system is awesome.
@noless theres a difference between training room and high pressure situation.... when daigo first did it justin was probably thinking he could at the very least chip him out.... instead daigo accepted the challenged and made it his worst decision
That was awesome. I wish I was that good
Final summation, the person playing Ryu is a badass.
Block the sweep Dudley, block the sweep!
1:23 it's beyond me how he didn't get an A
wow- that guy plays a pretty good Ryu.
On 5:13 parry, there were 8 hits, break 7 hits.Usualy its 7 hits, break , 7 hits.Perhaps its just ps2 version.
