The way Balrog owns Sagat at the end of the 2nd rights 2nd round is just PURE AMAZING! After being in a corner he pulls out and just unleashes the BEAST!
I remember watching this match at evo. Good times.....Man it was insane then, and its still insane still to this day watching this match. What a beast Daigo is.
Damn, this was a good year for Daigo. This was the same EVO as the "Daigo parry", and then he pulls this shit on O. Sagat. Too bad John Choi got his USFIV revenge this year...
Old Sagat's recovery on Tiger Shots is nearly unfair. I can see why he's used so frequently. It's basically the recovery benefit Guile can get but without needing a charge. Ferocious.
He wasn't ALWAYS a Ryu guy. He actually started maining Guile in SF2. He also mained, during various iterations of the game: Ken, Yun, Zangief, Balrog (boxer), Sagat, Evil Ryu, Cammy, Urien, Chun-Li. He's also notoriously a great Sol Badguy player in Guilty Gear and an excellent Vampire Saviour/Vampire Hunter player.
Shendue He's not even a Ryu guy now, it's cool to think of Daigo, a Japanese god being a Ryu character loyalist and almost a personification of Ryu but it's not really true. He's been more loyal to tiers than anything. Boxer& Guile, Ken in 3s, then Yun and E Ryu in SF4. Valle has been more of a Ryu loyalist than Daigo ever has been.
@guilhermewolfman It's called buffering. The input for the dash straight is charge back for 2 seconds, then press forward and punch. The input for the Super Combo is charge back for 2 seconds, then press forward, back, forward and punch. All you do is throw an extra punch after the first forward & not only will you get the dash straight, but you'll also get the Super Combo. It's not that impressive if you know the timing, but it IS impressive to beat O.Sagat down like that! DAMN!
@@mimike80 He tried picking up a feather weight boxer and lifted with his back instead of legs and he ended up hurting his back. No one has seen Motive since. Moral to the story? Don't "pick up boxer."
Balrog is named M.Bison as he is an imitation of Mike Tyson. They changed the character names around for the US release so that there was no infringement on Tyson.
i am forever thankful to daigo for playing boxer in ST, if it weren't for that i'd have never picked him up in SFIV and probably would've dropped the game
@@ZidaneTribal93 thanks for responding to a 12 year comment lol but no i eventually moved on to cammy during AE and then juri for USFIV Never got into SFV
Well Balrog counters Sagat in nearly every game they appear in together. The design of Sagat vs. Balorg is just that way. Balrog in ST can headbut through fireballs and his dash punch will trade with tigershots at mid range. It's a full time job keeping Balrgo out, because he has so many options to get in and inflict damage,
(Japanese/American) M.Bison / Balrog Balrog / Vega Vega / M.Bison The change due to the names was the issue of the American release due to the correlation between M.Bison (US's Balrog) and Mike Tyson. To avoid a controversy, they switched the names.
@marymouse91 I believe, In the japanese version of the game Balrog is M. Bison, M, Bison is Vega, and Vega is Balrog. Capcom US changed the names in the US release, I believe. That's why some people refer to Vega as Claw, Bison as Dictator, and Balrog as Boxer. Just to avoid confusion.
American players tend to counter pick more. A good example is when John Choi fought Pony in 2k4. His main is O. Sagat and his sub is ryu, but he picked Guile to beat pony's Zangief.
Because Choi is using "Old" Sagat. Since about five million versions of SF2 were released, characters received some changes over time. In this version you can select older versions of characters too, going back to before they had super moves. Old Sagat is actually considered absurdly strong, and has no need for a super meter anyway.
@WW3seeker It's "old Sagat", the Sagat version from SSF2 (not Turbo), which is why he has no super bar. His recovery time on tiger shots is shorter than SSF2T Sagat's.
Insane gameplay, all of those super combo finishes(especially the first one) make it seem like it takes less time to charge the boxer dashes when daigo is playing.
Its Japanese tradition to stick with your main character. Even in bad mismatches (Dic vs honda) they will usually stick to their main character unless they really need to pick something else. I don't know why, but that is their style.
@PlatinumBD In Super Turbo, you can choose two versions of the character (Regular version or "old" version). You must input a special code with the d-pad to select the old version of the character. The old version is the Super Street Fighter II (NOT SUPER TURBO) version of the character. The old versions basically don't have the ability to do supers but their specials and normals do much more damage. O.Sagat, O.Ken, and O.Hawk are stronger than their regular counterparts.
@Jahofnietdan2 "Dictator" is the term generally used in international circles for Bison/Vega to avoid confusion about the name. "Boxer" is used for Balrog/Bison.
Wow!! Wish daigo plays with balrog sometimes again in street fighter V Its hard to play and specially win with balrog. If you understand your character, you know how to win.
SFII sprites didn't have as much shading as the Alpha sprites. That's why Balrog is so light. His ST pallette makes him look even more lighter. although Deejay's sprites are dark, Balrog's sprite were made much earlier then Deejay's. The New Challengers had more shading and are drawn more porportional compared to the previous fighters (their heads are not as big as the previous 12 warriors.)
@Orpheusftw Because that's how you're supposed to play O. Sagat. Besides, I believe Daigo choosing Boxer was a counter pick, since Ryu was at a disadvantage against O. Sagat while Boxer is one of the best characters in the game (next to O. Sagat).
I pull this off quite easily since ive practiced it so much. The key is to use the light kick lower uppercut dash. And you cannot make contact with it, you must wiff the uppercut. After it wiffs just hit another left, right then do your P/K
A certain American boxer whose name rhymes with Bison would probably be offended (especially because in Japan, the M actually stands for Mike), so Capcom took the easy route of avoiding potential lawsuits and controversy by changing the names.
They communicate boxer's turn punch level, by pressing the three punches or three kicks simultaneously the more you hold them the more damage the turn punch will do. Once you release the buttons thus performing the turn punch the announcer's voice will tell you what level of turn punch you did. There are 8 levels: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,MAX (the announcer will say MAX instead of 8).
Every (Japanese) Street Fighter video seems to have people talk about how the names are wrong. It's not wrong people! M.Bison = Balrog Balrog = Vega Vega = M. Bison They just had to change the names around for the U.S. version because they didn't want to chance getting sued. This is reason why people say Boxer, Claw, or Dictator when talking about the three mentioned above.
@SmokeRulz This is regular SSF2T. You can play as the original Super Street Fighter 2 versions of characters via code, hence the "O.Sagat" in the video title, O being Old or Original or what have you.
That's like saying Super Mario Galaxy looks 1000x better than Mario Bros. on Nintendo. Super Turbo was on the SF2 engine, it's now over 15 years old. How can you even compare the two? This is a true classic, give it respect and don't call it "Corny". Also, whoever said SF4 models look "horrendous", you're a fan of SF3? Guilty Gear? KOF? I personally enjoy the style in SF4 as do a lot of other people. SF4 has re-energized the Street Fighter Franchise, give it some respect.
