Hi MC. As for me you can keep the Excalibur in you top 5 rotation as long as you like. I’ve been watching for years. Doing all the things you’ve done for the knife community and working your butt off on your channel to finally have a dream come true. Enjoy.
You shouldn't be scared to use your Sage 5. It's not as fragile as people think, especially if it's used as a cutting tool and not a prybar.
I put ti scales on mine and it's a beast

If you ask me, it’s built tougher than its appearance and size would lead people to believe. It has a rather thick main stop pin, and actually has a smaller, second internal stop pin.
The feel in-hand on top of its build gives me confidence to use it hard, as a cutting tool. Love my Rex 121 Sage 5 so much, I preordered the Salt Magnacut Sage 5.
Don't dig a hole with it either.
I saw big brown bears video testing rex 121 (not the sage 5) and he was able to whittled brass with no edge damage. It was only lateral/perpendicular movement that did the damage. Really interesting and got me excited to try it in a more real world scenario!
I have allready sharpened my rex 121 sage 5. No problem. Worksharp proffesional precision adjust.
9:50 I find it easier to revese flick the Tyro than to thumb flick, and the cut out works really well in my hand. Funny how ergonomics vary from hand to hand.

I have the Sage 5 Rex 121 on the way. Sounds like a perfect knife for me. I fidget and occasionally open packages or envelopes. Being able to sharpen only once a year sounds pretty great.
Love my Shark Cub sheep’s foot. 20cv I wish handles were Carbon Fiber but it’s almost always in my pocket

I love my shark cub so much I had to get the dlt exclusive titanium when it went on sale for $169. Gifted my original aluminum to a friend.
My Sage 5 -Rex121 had discolored patina after cutting my tomatoes, cucumbers and limes while preparing my salad. I guess the acid reacted with the steel. No regrets though, it slices like a dream.
Long time viewer and newly joined member. Love the content and your Excalibur knife. Great design and can't wait for mine to arrive. Have you reviewed the Flytanium Arcade but with the full titanium scales? It feels like a totally different knife and has taken over my daily EDC.
Hands down, end of story agree on the shark cub. Skip straight to the OG scales for it and you’ll never carry another knife. The contouring is perfect! That and the Skaha II are mamma jamma in the all around awesome department.
Sharkcub Ti is incredible. Hard to switch up when it's in pocket

I remember when you thought designing your own knife was a pipe dream.
From what i saw on his Instagram during production the biggest goal of the tyro was to br a small superlock knife. I wouldnt be shocked of they make a bigger one but it seems he was intending it as the small knife with a superlock.
Every time I get a high edge retention blade, I somehow feel the need to go out of my way to cut everything I can until it dulls.

Original goat allows you to pick from a ton of coatings on their titanium and aluminum scales.

Re OG and aluminum anodizing: anodizing aluminum requires chemicals that are more hazardous than the ones for titanium.
Objectively not true.
Sodium Bisulfate is far safer than the hydrofluoric acid that is frequently used with titanium.
It just takes a bit longer/more effort. It's not any harder or more dangerous.
Would you say you prefer the stealth cub over the standard one? Honestly thinking about it since it's aluminum and deletes the liners. Either that or I'll wait for the OG scales for it.

Rex isn’t that bad to sharpen sure it’s not the easiest but not a total nightmare.

I actually asked him whether I should go maxamet or 121. He said that maxamet is nore than enough so I just ordered a mexamet sage 5 on sale. I can definitely understand the appeal of rex121 for the collector though.
@@cameronperrin5591I agree, as a user Maxamet is plenty. I actually have both and an M4 Sage 5. The Sage 5 is like a Honda civic or Toyota Corolla, it just works, no frills, just a great platform.

Spyderco's Really are Fragile knives. Of course its Intentional, but when Everyone brags on what a Workhorse the brand is, Many are disappointed when their blade Snaps under Normal use. Everyone should Understand that MC and others Prize Edge Retention over All. Some cheap Steels can be Much Tougher. Hence Andrew Demko using "Cheap,Tough" Steels. 💡
