My reading goal is to read more intentionally and feel more accomplished. Even if a book is three stars I want to feel content with the fact that it was something I wanted to read and still have a good time. Just to read books I'm excited about.
i listened to this while i folded my laundry!! haha I love these goals, especially to have 50 5 star reads. I also want to start hardcore DNFing some books. When i have my yearly wrap up with my bookclub for 2023, i wanna be able to say that i had no most hated books of the year!
I actually lowered my reading goal number because last year I felt so much (internal) pressure to be staying on pace with my reading goal that I shied away from reading longer or more intimidating books because I knew they would be more of a time investment. This year I want to focus more on reading what I want and feeling less pressure to just read MORE.
My goal for 2023 is to read 365 books. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, and it feels like I’m at a place in my life where I am only going to get busier over the next few years, so it really feels like now’s the time! Hand in hand with that goal, I also want to have diversity in the length and genre of books I’m reading (e.g. poetry collections, novellas, longer fantasy, mid-length romance and mystery/thrillers, etc.) and I want to be less afraid to dnf (I think I dnf’ed 1 book in 2022?) And I’m not a UA-camr, but I do kind of want to film clips throughout the year and make a video to document my journey. Even if I don’t end up hitting the goal, I think it would be fun to look back on!
Video idea- could you do a series where you talk about your favorite audible narrators? I always look for books read by my favorite, Andi Arndt, but it would be fun to see what narrators you like and it helps to discover new authors.
i'll be honest i don't have big narrator preferences! i like julia whelan but there aren't many narrators i dislike so not sure how helpful that vid would be from me

One of my content goals this year is to try out regular weekly reading vlogs. I would occasionally film regular weekly reading vlogs, but I usually only filmed a week of reading for documenting different readathons. I'm hoping this will help me talk about books I would otherwise not discuss on my channel (I tried just filming recent reads videos last year for those and hated that because I am not a sit down video girlie for my own content). I'm going to try not to judge them too harshly at first, knowing I'll get better at crafting a narrative for the week as I go. I'm also hosting my first ever readathon this year in February! It's Heartstopper themed and I'm so excited. Here's to a great year!

use storygraph to track your reading! It gives you charts about it and you can upload your goodreads into storygraph so you could just do it at the end of the year then show us the graphs!
My 2023 goals are largely just.. to try and get my house organized, AND to just actually start finally having fun seriously reading[ and writing & listening to music ] more regularly / consistently again too (hopefully) because I really don't feel like myself when I'm not reading/writing[ & listening to music] !! I've turned the idea of becoming a content creator around in my head over and over, on and off, for a long time over the years now. Originally, I used to think I wanted to try blogging / book-reviewing; but eventually that evolved into possibly UA-cam-ing instead. But I think that is something I would personally only ever try to tackle /AFTER / IF I can ever successfully feel like I have at least remotely gotten my life a little bit more together, this year. 😅😅🙃😁 Ssooo..... wish me luck, I guess! But I would definitely only be thinking about what I personally felt like making videos about, like..just for myself...just to get things out there/outta my head or whatever, not at all about what other people might like to see, really; so, I would honestly be very surprised if it ended up that anyone ever actually watched my channel. Especially because it would probably be extremely mixed content, maybe, rather than focusing just on one them(i.e. = books, or such); since I also feel very strongly that I don't want to start separate channels for separate interests, and the like. But I'd make it public, because I am basically not ashamed of myself, and who knows..if it ever did somehow end up being at all useful or making even just one person other than myself smile or something even if it wasn't until 50 years after I died or something then I think that could be a happy bonus on top; but no biggy, too, if it never happens.. because...I'm just . .a person, and everything I would want to do with my channel is basically complete opposite of everything people always say is key to success as a UA-camr. (Like not even wanting to make it big, just wanting to give myself an outlet kind of, yet also just I guess leaving that door open maybe to the possibility that I could perhaps also find/be-found-by/ some random people who have common interests to me to share it with or something..buut, whatever happens, happens; and whatever doesn't, doesn't. I dunno!) 🤣
I love watching your channel. I'm a small booktuber and I too must say 2022 was a rough year emotionally. I like that you talked about comparing yourself and your channel to others. That was a huge problem for me last year as well. 🙃

I took inspiration from you to finish all my physical books and audiobook I bought that haven’t listened to yet. I pre purchased my 24 audible credits and that is all the new I am allowing this year. I also moved and joined a much better and ridiculously funded local library and am excited to use it.

my reading goal this year is to learn how to DNF books. typically, I will push through a bad book even if I'm not enjoying the experience. purely for the sake of completion. I feel so strongly compelled to finish something once I've started it - it's an issue. I need to value my time more by putting down books that I dislike. nobody has time to read a bad book!
