My favorite thing about your channel is that you read books that aren’t hyped and you give less popular and older authors a chance
If I could only stay subscribed to one booktuber, Chandler is the one I would pick! 💓
hahaha love this, thank you
My husband mailed off my old childhood copy of The Giver to Lois Lowry years ago. She signed it and mailed it back. It was the best surprise ever and so meaningful. I will never part with that book.
I’m convinced we had the same YA fantasy/paranormal/romance experience growing up. Holly Black (Valiant/Ironside), City of Bones, and Vampire Academy are integral to my reading taste now.
Lmfao I couldn’t agree more ❤
Same! (Save for Vampire Academy) I still reread the infernal devices at least once a year
Mine would be:
1. The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
2. The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
3. The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
4. ACOMAF by Sara J. Maas
5. Part of Your World by Abby Jiminez
6. Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
7. Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
8. From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata
9. Birthday Girl by Penelope Douglas
10. Kaikeyi by Vaishnavi Patel
and lastly, of course,
The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo by TJR.
These are my personal faves. I have more but these are the ones that live rent-free in my head, lol.
So interesting how Project Hail Mary makes so many peoples favorites lists! And it seems to be across the board as far as people who tend to love certain genres the most… I have seen purely romance readers with it on their list! 🤯 I need to read it!!
I must say, your talking speed is what I need...generally I try to make it 1.5x or 2x to catch up and avoid getting distracted. Your video I just watch on 1x....n believe me, I love it 😀
your outfit and jewellery look amazing in this video! 🔥🔥🔥
ty ty!!
99% of the books I read/listen to are from the library, so I don't have too many physical books. But the ones I do have, I've had since childhood and I would have to keep City of Bones because it was so influential to me with the world building and romance. I'd also have to keep The Summer I Turned Pretty Series by Jenny Han. I love these books with all my heart. This was the first time I ever really related to a character and I still go back and reread the series every year. I remember I was on vacation and I made my aunt go to a book store to get the next book because I had to know what happened. The Mortal Instruments and TSITP truly sparked my love for reading.
This is a great idea. Definitely inspiring me. I’m gonna be thinking about this all day
I LOVÉ this idea!! Especially because you’re able to talk about books that aren’t in everyone’s videos, much more sentimental books with meaning to you as an individual.
I think the books I would keep would all be sentimental books. my dads set of lotr, the leather bound set of whinnie the pooh my dad got me for my first birthday, my original set of Shel Silverstein poem books (where the sidewalk ends, light in the attic, falling up)
I do love legendborn though, like you said it was a refreshing new take within YA fantasy and while it wasn't the main plot of the book, the way Bree processes the grief of losing her mom was so impactful for me.
1. Ask Again, Yes by Mary Beth Keane (my number one book forever)
2. Get A Life Chloe Brown
3. The Learning Curve by Mandy Berman
4. The Lady Tempts an Heir by Harper St. George
5. Divergent by Veronica Roth (the best dystopian book of my teenage years and I will die on that hill)
6. Broken Vow by Sophie Lark (I thought I hated mafia romances until I read this book)
7. Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen (I love pride and prejudice so so much but this book made me realize how much I love Jane Austen as an author)
8. It’s so hard to pick just one Christina Lauren but I’m gonna say The Soulmate Equation
That’s all I’ve got lol
i read amari and the night brothers in january and absolutely loved it, first 5 stars of the year so i totally get why it's on this list!
Valiant is SUCH a good series and I LOVED seeing the characters briefly on the street in the Mortal Instruments series!!! It was so nostalgic
Not going to lie… I would have to fight the urge to just keep my Rick Riordan collection lol PJO has been my favorite series throughout most of my life and I can’t imagine not owning them.
That being said, I think the list would be something like:
- Battle of the Labyrinth
- The Mark of Athena
- Heartstopper Vol.4
- Red White and Royal Blue
- Carry On
- A House on the Cerulean Sea
- Check, Please Vol.2
- The Gentle Art of Fortune Hunting
- Gone Girl
- Mystery at the Masquerade
- It Happened One Summer
- Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
- Six of Crows
- The Selection
- Catching Fire
- The Perks of Being a Wallflower
- Turtles All The Way Down
- Warcross
- Fence Vol.1
- How to Train Your Dragon
I loved Dear Ava. I agree it’s definitely underrated.
Great list! Thanks for sharing. There are a lot of books out there that most people haven't heard about that should get a lot more exposure. I recently read When Dying Is Not a Problem and I really enjoyed it.
I don't have a full 20, but some of the big ones for me are:
1. the outsiders (first book to make me cry and i still have my og copy from when I was 12)
2. the night circus by erin morgenstern
3. the host or breaking dawn by stephanie meyer
4. the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy by douglass adams
5. rushed by aurora rose reynolds (recent romance addition but it's one that just makes me feel good)
6. radiance by grace draven
also i love this video. & the idea. it's so cute & wholesome. even the thumbnail is adorable 😭😭😭
Yes! For the SJM pick it's ACOMAF. It being the book Rhys and Feyre come together so perfectly is just 😍 so good

I loved Lover Awakened. I just have so many fond memories of that one.
I’m so glad you said Anxious People because that’s the first one I thought of! Completely agree. It’s a perfect book in my opinion. Now if only he’d write some romance…

Anxious people is definitely one that I would keep as well! It’s amazing
Another great video idea! I may do it on my channel & will definitely credit you, because I loved it! You really thought about having variety and keeping books that mean something to you. I loved the books you picked 🩷

Ahh I loved Vampire Academy as a teen and so happy to see it on your list. I was totally obsessed 😍

bdb, particularly lover awakened, is also the series that got me into romance omg 😭
You look so pretty 😊 I love the jewelry with the outfit
thanks
I love Vampire Academy and a middle grade series called Gregor the Overlander by Suzanne Collins it was the first book series i picked up by myself to read when i was in 5th grade. There’s also the Wings of Fire series and the Slater Brothers series and the last ones would probably be the forbidden men series i don’t remember all the authors for those tho, 😅
Hmm. Today I think I'd pick;
1. A court of Mist and Fury (SJM)
2. House of Earth and Blood (also SJM)
3. City of Bones
4. A Shadow in the Ember (JLA)
5. From Blood and Ash (JLA)

17. Beach Read (Emily Henry)
18. Silence of the Lambs (Thomas Harris)
And that's probably it for now. Mix of new favs and nostalgia
A little commotion for the outfit/jewelry though!
I feel like everyone has an “oh my god, people make out in books?” Moment at some point. 😂😂
The 2 books I’d have to replace if they disappeared from my shelves: my very beautiful copy of Matilda and Things I Can’t Explain by Mitchell kriegman. Matilda was the first book that I read that made me realize I like reading but the children’s books I had been exposed to at that time were just boring to me. Okay, I don’t know about the quality of Things I Can’t Explain because I’m too emotionally tied to it to see clearly but it’s a sort of book sequel to the show Clarissa Explains it All (written by the creator of the show) but sort of time-shifted so that Clarissa was in her early 20s at the time it was published (even though in real timeline she’d be in her 30s). If you grew up with Clarissa and feel emotionally tied to that world I think you’ll enjoy just hanging in that world again (we hear about Sam, Ferguson, and her parents) and it has a cute romance. Bonus points, Melissa Joan Harts sister narrates the book and she sounds like Melissa so it sounds kinda like the Clarissa you’re used to hearing and it just feels good.
it doesn't matter what edition, but i always want to have a copy of dracula. i don't think its the best book in the world by any means, but it's had a lotta significance throughout my academic life lol
A Kingdom of Dreams❤️❤️❤️❤️🥺
@maddiemarty looooooved part of your world and yes I cried listening to the audiobook
Preferences are a funny thing. Because I prefer mass market paperbacks. ☺️
Such a fun and unique video idea!
thank you
I could never choose just 20 books to keep my head would explode. I love my books and it was only recently that I learned to unhaul books.

Chandler! No Twilight??
@Cappiethorn -- I feel like for the life of me I couldn't pick only 20 books to keep.
Anyone that wants to answer this would be appreciated- why do you buy books rather than borrow them from the library? I’m asking, because I very rarely read a book more than once, and I’m just curious if I am unique because of this? Sure, I have my all time favorites that I have read multiple times, but those are very rare. I prefer to only read a story once, because once I have read it, I obviously already know what happens, so I don’t see myself reading it again when I already know what happens. 🤷🏼♀️ I think I am the minority though!
i borrow nearly all of the books i read from the library :) but books that have an emotional impact are usually ones that i like to keep around. either on the chance i want to reread or if i want to be able to loan a favorite to a friend
I am a book Dragon!
I used to own so many more physical books, but now I own many digital copies. I often reread books, and being able to just go through my shelves reminds me... oh yeah that's what I am in the mood for. I tend to remember scenes or characters better than authors or titles so it's easier to go back through my shelves. Also they're like good friends that have kept me company, I've cried with them, laughed, ect. I wish I had more space and many of the books I've let go still.
Vampire academy the show was CANCELLED???!
@natalia_0 I would love that book
@effinalice1
@whatalicesaw Thanks!
