I remember laying my eyes on this system when I pulled it out of the plastic bag after getting it from CIF and then I saw those damn side sapi pouches then immediately when to Arbor Arms to buy the shorter ones along with almost everyone else in my platoon doing the same thing. However, this video was very informative and a lot of 03's are going to appreciate this one!!

I'm not in the USMC just a dirty civilian but I still appreciate the content and helping me to do the thing better I've put together a decent kit from watching your videos it's not as high speed but it's got the right parts where it counts Setting up a plate carrier and kit is so subjective everyone's will be different and there really is no wrong answer. Try it and see if it works, that will tell you. Sure looks like you've had to overcome a lot to make this plate carrier work for you thanks for sharing
In mid 2019 my unit were the among the first to be issued these. The obvious felt difference was the 10% lighter weight reduction. Felt like I was wearing a box at first but eventually we broke them in with the training we’ve done. The mollie felt really tight just putting anything to attach them in. By 2021 they issued us the hi cut Kevlar helmet. Made me feel like I was getting the SF treatment 😂 but bottom point is all of these were much lighter weighted material. And I’ve kept all my gear even when I got out the corps
As much as we Canadian grunts bitch and moan constantly about our outdated frag vest + tactical vest setup, seeing other countries like the US issue awkward and bulky "all-in-one" plate carriers that are neither here nor there makes us actually question if the change will be worth it.
@@xxxbillybobswag5747 On the whole, oh yeah, you guys def got much better issued gear than us. Our gear is rather on the "very crude but functional" side. some WH40K Imperial Guard shit. lol. Although the canadian army really needs to update and modernize our gear, I'm not a fan of the USMC Gen 3 plate carrier system (especially that bottom zipper for the plate insertion. wtf). As of recently, we Canadians are mostly given the freedom to use whatever custom chest rig, plate carrier, belt kit, etc. depending on one's trade and speciality. We just need to make sure to wear the frag vest for base protection. And when we need to do non-tactical yet still physical work, we can shed the weight of the tactical vest while still retaining the protection. Personally, my favorite armored vest design is the Russian 6B45 ballistic vest system with more MOLLE. Full-body coverage, plenty of customizable space, and can be worn as a base layer.
Got out before these were issued but these look like a giant pain in the ass compared to the previous gen and feels like another example of the military over-complicating a solution to a problem that didn't exist.
Throwing it out there but I bet you can strap on some ventilation panels behind the plate bag if you’re tying up the carrier with paracord. Not essential, but more of a quality of life improvement in warmer climates.

mmmmmmm. Love to see it. Feel like everytime we get a new carrier, we all just spend months figuring out how to make it actually usable
