Cam, I don't understand the people having problems with your list. You were pretty clear in the beginning about what comprise that list. It was the best whiskeys you drank this past year. If folks want the top 20 or the top 100 or the top relatively available, that's afforded to them through any channels on UA-cam. Any form of art has its critics, the artist in my opinion shouldn't change his or her style based on the critics comments. Keep doing what you do, your entertaining and most importantly you're you. Thanks Ron! I think the answer is somewhere in the middle and that I can adapt my format to maximize how many folks find value in a future list. B523 is my fav for sure. Even side by side. I agree the others maybe have more notes that come through, but balance is very underrated by the whiskey community imo. B523’s balance is fantastic and why I want to keep coming back

I appreciated your inclusion of SiB and comments about the benefits of buying picks and joining a group. I would love to see a single barrel only list and let us know where they’re coming from. I joined a barrel club that fits my budget because of your list, so i appreciate it.
Your engagement with your audience and willingness to take feedback is second to none on whiskey tube. Most of us enjoy being included in the decision making process of what content comes out. As a subscriber, really appreciate you taking the time for this. As an aside, what a bummer Ohio allocations are. I thought my state had it bad. We have Larceny BPs as a regular shelf bottle at literally any store.
Finally found one of the Larceny A124. I agree the nose is just ok but wow on the pallet, the chocolate and cinnamon come through. I thought it was fantastic.
Just picked up an A124 yesterday and I'm definitely getting that granular brown sugar feel. My main takeaways were chocolate covered cherry and butterscotch. It actually didn't drink very hot for me, but I was sipping from a Canadian Cairn (bigger body and wider mouth). I loved it yesterday. Might take a stab at it again today when I get off work and see if I can find that pineapple.

Love how open you are and how well you communicate. Anyone having problems is their problem as you can have 5 different lists based on different criteria. Love this larceny review as it’s just what I want….Is this a special batch or wait until the next? You answered it so thank you!
I enjoyed your list for what it was, sharing your personal experience and giving a window into the experience for some bottles many people wont have a chance to buy themselves. I know a lot of people do the multiple lists thing. End of the day the watered down lists are all very similar. Not bad as its nice to be able to pull the common bottles among them but hardly riveting to see 8 different channels all love the same 10 bottles.
Nice review! I enjoy Larceny BP I have b521, a122, b522, c922, a123, b523, and c923 and I like them all! I bought backups of the b522 and c922 which is my favorite so far:)

I remember megapodcaster Tim Ferriss talking about how as he grew in size, he had to be careful what he recommended. Because any craft item he offhandedly mentions using would steer thousands of listeners to that small business (and overwhelm them). Those poor Bourbon Junkies must be inundated with bottle requests that are now long gone... Also, can't wait for your LBP C922 vs. C923 blind!
On the issue of including single barrels on lists, one of the top channels just came out with a Best Of 2023 list and the way he handles single barrels is that single barrels *can* be mixed in with the batched products - but only single barrels that were selected by the producer/distiller. No group picks nor store picks. Might be a compromise so that top single barrels can still be grouped in the same list along with top batched rather than creating a separate "single barrels only" list.
Cam, I gotta tell you Michters 10 even though a single barrell was just too damn good. I am sure most of the bottlings were amazing
Mine indeed was and was my best of 2023 (other than Lag 1985 haha) so no worries man. People can find these on auctions sometimes and so be it. Good to have your honest opinion.
As you suggested, just have multiple lists, to cover all categories. That would be well received
I disagree with the single barrel convo. It’s YOUR favorites and it also adds value to single barrel picks. That’s what made picks so special back in the day was the chance to find something truly special and off profile. Now that single barrel picks are everywhere their value is much less, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be picking those up, because you can find something truly special.
How has the ubiquity of single barrels decreased their value? If anything, single barrels have increased their value as quality single barrels (which are not hard to find depending on your market) are just as good as highly sought after allocated bottles so people can find and drink top notch juice without spending 300 dollars.
@@jeremybamgbade I probably didn't do justice my argument and I agree that single barrels are a great value. It might just be where I live, but here the market is FLOODED with single barrels and nobody is buying them (or enough of them) because there are so many that it is no longer "special". Whereas a highly reviewed batch would be seen as "special". Some of the single barrel picks I've seen are still sitting from 2021.
@@Jrut46 Ahh I see what you were getting at. It's a shame that more people don't realize the value of a quality single barrel/store pick. They are amazing values and if people would stop tatering they would realize there are plenty of unique tasting singe barrels that would blow their minds.
Edit: Honestly there is no perfect way of doing it. That being said. I still really liked what you did. What you liked is what you liked. It doesn’t matter what bottles are in the mix because we can look at your ranked list and decide from that list what we think are bottles we would want to pursue finding.
I think breaking it up into available, allocated, and then single barrel(no minimum). Then do a finale of the winners from each group.
I totally agree with your ranking. Ive had the A124 for a week or so and have gone back to it multiple times and its just not it!
I find it absolutely ridiculous that YOU made YOUR top 5 list, the best YOU drank for the year and people decide to criticize YOU for making a list of YOUR favorites. Just because people might not ever get a chance to drink certain bottles doesn't mean you should keep them from YOUR list...FFS, it is YOUR list...and then you feel the need to explain yourself about the list YOU made is just stupid and I for one am sorry you felt a need to do that. Instead of bowing your head to these people, own it, it is YOUR list and don't be sorry about YOU having the ability to try things most of us wont be able to. I for one am sick and tired of seeing/hearing how bourbon/whiskey is suppose to be about the community and then I see many of YOU the WhiskeyTubers being criticized for making such a list. Love your content, please keep it going!!!
How do you factor in air time when comparing batches that come out months apart? I only ask because I noticed the Larceny BP changing quite a bit.
Unfortunately it’s inexact, and at some point I just have to either take them for how they are, or try to slightly adjust my interpretation to account for it, though the latter is tough. I might make a disclaimer here or there and say “maybe with some air it’ll improve, but it’s X or Y as it stands now.” Generally though, I try to get at least a little air in a bottle before I review it.
@@DrumsAndDrams I appreciate the answer, and the meticulous reviews. That mainly came to mind because I noticed a couple of my older Larceny BP bottles seemed to drop off quite a bit, but that may have been caused by low fill. Keep the videos coming, always great stuff.
