- Many d2d roofing sales people will disagree with this... but I stand strong behind my belief of NOT knocking No Soliciting signs. Here's why.

Do you knock NO SOLICITING signs? YES or NO?
No but what about signs at the entrance to a sub division?
Yes
And if they point out the sign I say I’m sorry that I did not see it until I rang the door bell and did not want to ding dong ditch your house
@@thedoctorkellyshow5252 I ignore those because they do not reflect every homeowner's personal thoughts. But one on someone's door--I definitely won't knock.
No, except to show the boss I could on a training day😂
Nope, I won't knock No Soliciting doors. The homeowner has that sign for a reason. I respect their wishes.
Your gonna have a hard time getting sales then
@@levileausa9541...oh well. Signs are put up for a reason.....look for another job.
You catch them outside, thats the trick.
If you knock they'll be mad and you may be fined. But they have that sign because they buy stuff that walks in.
Solution; sell without knocking.
@@levileausa9541lmfao, you’re wrong. I have a 40k base, uncapped commissions. Cleared $140k last year. Never knocked a no soliciting sign. I have permits everywhere when needed. I still won’t. They have that sign up for a reason
@levileausa9541 Whelp, keep that attitude up until people become petty enough to start calling non emergency numbers. Have fun with the fines.
The note on the door is absolutely genius. I loved this video. Thanks, brother. I will be using this method, no doubt.
🤘💪
This is refreshing to hear from a vendor. We work from home and more often than not are on conference calls or tasks requiring our undivided attention. It's difficult to juggle when our dogs are reacting to a doorbell. I'm fine with someone leaving a note or a door hanger, especially if they acknowledge that we have the sign.
A flyer and a door hanger are still soliciting.
Exactly I just got mad at someone for ignoring my sign and making me get up after getting injured. Respect the sign or prepare yourself.
Don’t answer.. problem solved
@@ethan3942 Doesn't work, people who disregard these signs don't care. If there is any sign someone could be home they will keep knocking and ringing the bell. I had a guy sit outside my door for 20 minutes banging on it to try to sell me a phone service. They are not going to just leave, if they were the no soliciting sign would have worked.
@@ethan3942don't knock problem solved.
My police department declined to pursue charges against me when I let my German shepherd loose on a solicitor that ignored my no soliciting signs and my 2 verbal commands to get off my property.
Enjoy the medical bills contractor with no health insurance
Why would you get up?😂
Nobody made you answer
Had to put up doorbell blocker and no junk letters or mail sign and a do not disturb/don’t trresspass sign For these exact reason and people still knock and bother us If someone has a no disturb or no solicit please just leave them alone! i’ve been a victim of harassment/stalking and it makes me uncomfortable when someone i don’t know try’s to force them selfs into a conversation with me even had some old man ask “is your parrent home” when i’m the home owner very disrespectful
Adams got the best ethics in roofing sales, you can tell he’s a great guy in his personal life as-well.
🙏❤️
When they do knock on mine, I make sure they regret doing so.
If I had a 'Don't Walk on my Lawn' sign, I would hope everyone would respect my request. Same goes for a No Soliciting sign.
I leave information, I don’t sell. I’ve seen multiple sales with no soliciting signs. 😅
Leaving information is soliciting. You still aren't respecting someone's wishes on their own private property.
You are a bad person
@@pfabs3124tons of people leave them up from the past homeowner, and if ur providing a service you think they could genuinely use, it more helpful then hurtful. Work from home signs i respect no soliciting when im offering a service you could benefit from I see no harm in, especially if it’s free quotes
I love it. I'm just like you. I do not door knock on No soliciting signs... Been door knocking for 30 years.... I don't beg.. I just asked the customer are they interested in my product in service... If they say no i'm off to the next somebody....people always buy door to door... It would always be a numbers game .. I don't have to be pushy.
Well said!
I sell internet door to door and I do depending on my mood. But lately I haven't been since my numbers are so good
What do you mean
Because I'm so annoyed with the salesman and religious people I literally just ordered a no soliciting sign and if they still knock I'm gonna lose my shit. Absolutely disrespectful and I would never buy from someone knocking after that sign is up!
I have a “no solicitor” sign. I literally stare at salesmen & don’t answer the door until they leave.
If I’m outside? I go inside and lock the door. Drink my coffee. Enjoy my day. Bask in being left alone.
It's how women feel at the club when you do door to door sale. It's always the wrong timing. Im in the bathroom, someone knocks, Im cooking, someone knocks. If I seriously want solar installation, I havbe already researched and found the right guy to do the job 7 months before "you" knocked.
I just dont . I just keep moving
They well call you when they need you. Just leave a card in the mailbox
Yeah or mail them
@@omarsroofing414
Thats a federal crime. Even worse lol 😂
I had to put up a no soliciting sign on front of my home, because I moved into a newly developed community. All of the new homes have warranties, so it’s a lot of sales persons who misrepresent themselves as being part of companies that offer the warranty.
How do you feel about the neighborhoods that have a sign at the entrance that says no soliciting? Do you only apply this method to individual doors, or entire neighborhood?
There’s buyer’s everywhere just gotta find them and get to the No quicker for the ones not interested ! If it was easy everyone would knock on doors but you’re a different breed when you can’t take 80+ “nos” to the face . Nobody likes being rejected , but that’s how business thrive focusing on the quality candidates but gotta find them
@@aronp713 If any of you door knockers ignore my no soliciting sign, I will be nice and respectful to you, but expect me to document the exchange with both audio and video. The purpose of this is to have your fkn SOLICITOR LICENSE YANKED!!! Guaran-fkn-teed!
@SCP_BrightAlt I wish I would have known you were referring to me before I erased my earlier post. I thought you were referring to the main post. I only erased my first post bc it was old and I don't work in the industry now. You're wrong in a couple ways though. You won't go to prison for knocking no soliciting doors. It's actually not illegal in most places, just frowned on. Secondly, I didn't, and don't, agree with knocking "no soliciting" sign doors. You misread. My initial post said that the people I used to work with believed that it was okay to do so. I, on the other hand, repeatedly refused to. I didn't/don't see the point. It doesn't benefit the salesperson in any way. It only creates conflict, making it harder than it already is. You will never close enough "no soliciting" doors to make it worth ignoring someone's reasonable request to be left alone. Also, knocking doors is outdated and a waste of people's time. Still requiring cold knocking when everyone else is using online marketing shows how little solar companies really care about their employees. It also exposes how little they are willing to invest in advertising a product that they swear they believe in.
Thanks Adam! I live adjacent to my son - he's a Farm Manager. People keep peering in, waving, & tapping at my window to get me to come help them. They don't even bother knocking at the door! They want something to do with the farm or something from my son. He isn't there, so why not bother me is the attitude. I thought it was a country thing & I should adjust, so I asked someone at a local retail store but she said, no, it's incredibly rude. I feel like a fish in a fishbowl, & I also work from home. I'm a content creator & must do sound work. Even the knocking disturbs me sometimes, & if it is about the farm or my son, then why bother me? I'm desperate about solving this. Politeness goes a long way!
Leaving a letter or note on a door is BAD BAD BAD BAD. It tells potential thieves that nobody is likely at home, inviting break-ins.
Soliciting is soliciting, those signs should mean "stay off my property and leave it completely alone".
I have thousands of people using my letters and this approach every single day in every state in the US and I've never once heard about a break in because of them.
@@TheRoofStrategist Maybe you haven't heard about it, but I'm not the only person warning against such practices, so there must be something to it. You'll also find people warning against letting your mailbox fill up with mail, for the same reason.
@@htomc42 You're absolutely correct. This is why, in the old days, people would stop their newspaper delivery while on vacation.
Good one. There are communities that have no soliciting signs posted at the entrance of the community. I'm curious to know if anybody stays away from those neighborhoods?
I'm in one of neighborhoods right now. I focus on being really polite, and don't push hard, and accept no a lot quicker. Some people seem to care I'm there, others, are friendly and nice.
No, we don't avoid those neighborhoods because if we did, literally half of the neighborhoods we go to that need roofs would be excluded. However, if someone has a sign on their door, I respect that.

@SCP_BrightAlt Then how the hell are you supposed to get business!?
If the old ass Narcissistic baby boomers would dye off.
We could start advertising again and not have a corporately dominated capitalistic society!
It should be illegal for whole communities to have no solicitation signs for the whole community. When some people may want to know what services you offer!!
@SCP_BrightAlt You can’t be arrested for trespassing before your verbally told to leave!
They can only give you a warning the first time!
People flat out ignore my sign. I had a political door knocker even tell me they were "legally allowed" to do it anyway. They incurred wrath.
😰😱
Adam,
Thanks for the very informative videos you have and keep producing. Recently started working for a company doing mainly the hail/wind side of things, and half of their training is "watch this guy's videos and let me know if you have any questions." They are really nice people, but one of their things is, knock every door. I don't feel right doing that, and agree with you, at this point I'm on my own so it's not nearly as much of an issue. I've seen you talk on other videos about "pitching" to ring doorbells etc, and I was just wondering if you'd do an altered pitch at one for a no-soliciting? (It being implied that you did not ring it, just assumed it picked you up coming - just to let them know you're there, respecting their privacy, and leaving a card/flyer/letter/etc.)
Thanks,
Cody.
I'm working with a place where they recommend knocking every door, but I asked if I'm allowed to not knock "No Soliciting" doors, and they said I didn't have to.
Exactly!!! I have a no soliciting sign on my door. Just today a solar guy knocked on my door as I was working. After he introduced himself I said, “So let me get this straight. You’re going to disrespect me by ignoring my OBVIOUS no soliciting sign, and then you think I’m going to do business with you?? Are you a special kind of stupid, or a special kind of shady? Get the f**k outta here. Go on! Git!” He looked at me like that was the first time anyone ever called him out.
He was lucky. I was actually feeling kind today. You should see how I usually deal with salespeople who ignore my sign. I’d describe it here but this is a family channel so I won’t.
In Minnesota, you have to have a Solicitor’s permit for each city to door knock. When I lived in Colorado Springs, I was door knocking but didn’t knock on No Soliciting homes, instead I left brochures. One time I received a threatening phone call from an unstable army person who threatened me over the phone for leaving a brochure on his door ( I didn’t knock, I only left a brochure). Ever since that event 6 years ago, I don’t leave brochures very often.
If you knock on NO SOLICITING homes, the homeowner can call the police and the police will track you down and give you a hefty fine (in the $$$thousands) here. I believe it’s the same in Colorado
I'm in Colorado and never knew it was a law. I'm gonna look into this
Leaving a brochure is still soliciting
@@pfabs3124 Soliciting Definition: to ask for (something, such as money or help) from people, companies, etc. If you aren’t asking/requesting something, only leaving flyers it’s not soliciting, but it’s understandable how people can be confused by this, it more or less falls into a “gray area”. It all boils down to the clauses that each city has for it’s solicitor/peddlers
@@justinpersinger5850 leaving a flyer or door hanger is soliciting.
@TheRoofStrategist - Isn't leaving a door hanger considered soliciting?
Good question, but it's better than a knock.
No
I was googling for a good sign, but this video came us. My current large print sign that says, "Don't F****** knock on this door, we don't answer for anyone, including police! Smile, we can see you but chose not to come to the door!" This is in addition to all the large no soliciting signs. When I have to walk away from my office for some guy thinking I would need anything from him is upsetting. I try not to get angry but sometimes it's hard. When those who can't read, still chose to knock, my German Shepherds go nuts, my kids freak out, and I'm on a call or recording and my clients have to hear the commotion. I understand this is how you make money, but I do not buy anything that is sold. If you can't write good, compelling copy, I'm probably not buying. I do throw all notes and junk mail away. I always have, I don't know why.
I understand and see your perspective and I would agree Adam, however I think my yes for knocking them is also agreeable. An honest salesperson is an honest salesperson no matter if they knock on a No Soliciting door or just leave paper behind. A sleazy salesperson is a sleazy salesperson no matter if they just leave paper behind (extended warranties) or if they knock on a door that does NOT have a No Soliciting
Leaving a paper behind is soliciting.
I stopped knocking no soliciting and started leaving door hangers. Today I didn’t knock just left a door hanger on a no soliciting and walked away. Home owner came out grabbed the door hanger and said “Hey! You forgot something “ and through door hanger on the floor. “Can’t you read!” …… lol man some people are just bitter inside, just had to spew his toxicity on someone
@@leonardofiallos7551 people like you need to get checked. Stop bothering people with no soliciting signs.
I had do not knock sign on my door for weeks. UPS guy just knocked on my door as he just dropped off my package at the door .....
I have a no soliciting sign and after I told them no thank you multiple times. They kept trying to to sale me the alarm system that i repeatedly said no then they came back a hour later later and knocked on my door when my husband came home and he told them no but they wouldn’t leave .
Check with your local authorities but I let my German shepherd loose on one of these guys that wouldn't leave and the city and police said I did nothing wrong.
Guy got stuck with his own hospital bills.
I am putting up a sign that says "If we are not expecting you, please go away"
My town has a license that any salesman has to pay a fee and pass a background check to obtain, If they can't produce a copy of that license or day permit they get personally fined $100. If they knock on a door that has a "No Solicitors," "No Soliciting," "No Trespassing" or similar sign on their property that can be easily seen by anyone approaching the door they are personally fined $500 and the company they work for gets their license revoked for 90 days. I have a sign that is LARGE and still get knocks from time to time. I always go out to talk to them while my wife is on the phone with the non-emergency dispatcher. We only live a few blocks from the station so response time is really quick. I'm helping fund our local township, keeping nuisance trespassers out of our community, and protecting my right to the enjoyment of my private property.
Or wasting valuable law enforcement time on someone you could just say no to. Then say goodbye, turn away and shut the door.
You are entering... private property
So if there is a NO SOLICITING sign
.... DON'T!
Unless you are an A....hole!
It is illegal in Texas for knocking on the no soliciting signs. The owner might have a specific reason why they have the no solicitation sign. Me my wife is disabled, I am a disabled veteran and in and out of sleep. We also have a 7 month old grandson we are taking care of during the day and usually he is asleep when it happens. I just literally had an argument with a realtor with no solicitation badge and I have a no solicitation sign right by the doorbell/door. Then her partner called me a fat ass for calling them out.
I don’t ignore them because I work for a door to door debt resolution company …” ,I’m here to help you get out of debt not get them to purchase anything “…some will, some won’t , so what …they are no anyway , let’s get to the No faster…it’s not good to bull doze the territory but if you’re a shark you’re not gonna be able to eat every fish in the ocean . Everyone has a different style .
Yes, this exactly.
Once people understand that failure is good, and necessary, they will see no as a power word. Getting a yes requires hearing a few no's.
And regardless of a no soliciting sign, there are people who are aware of the problem really want your solution. Some will, some won't, so what.
@@gruesomedead that’s the best mentality, it’s what separates people who will produce and the ones who don’t. 💡 💪
Also What if they rent and have no need for any of these sales. Thats our issue. WE rent and are getting so many people. If we have an issue we tell the landlord otherwise we dont want/need anything. We are getting so many stuid solicitors and dont have any need for them. Whats the best sign to avoid sales?
For anyone else fed up. 2 weeks ago I got TWO signs! One by my door and one by my lawn. I was still getting them with just one at My door because they'd go up the stairs. Knock once then see the sign and leave. But now it's been almost 2 weeks Of NO solicitors with a gentle sign BEFORE my stairs. These are just signs that say, "no soliciting, friends and deliveries welcome" and it's working wonderfully!
2:08 start time
Idk I'm in FL, them sales people ignore the sign and act like they didn't see it. It gets exhausting to keep saying no thanks, and they keep at it and ask questions. Wtf bro! No is no, and I say it with no thanks. 😤😡
I knock them. Rarely do they get mad at me. Most of my deals come from houses with that sign.
It's simple out of respect I don't do it.
Another jack-off D2D salesman knocked on my door today totally ignoring the NO SOLICITOR sign. Where I live that is a crime. He walked off when I reminded him of it and he walked away without showing me his license. Now it's 2 crimes. As I was calling the police, it was gratifying watching him double pace it to his car and speed out of the neighborhood.
Handle it yourself. Don’t act like a coward. Grow some balls.
If you see no soliciting signs stop leaving business cards, flyers, notes. I am tired of picking up trash salespeople leave behind. It never stays in the door and ends up blown around.
Focus on you online presence, SEO, get good reviews and respond to negative ones professionally. That goes way farther in getting my business.
People put no soliciting signs on their homes for a reason. They don't want whatever you are selling and would rather you leave a note or business card in the mailbox if you are someone who is real persistent and cant take no for an answer
I have a no solicitation sign. Don’t waste time knocking on or leaving crap on my door. Will never respond.
"You have a permit to solicit? Show me."
We charge $50 per minute to listen, payable in advance. Knocking/ringing gives homeowner permission to charge. Please knock!
I never entered into a contract with you. Chill get on with life. There’s more to worry about
Hey Adam, I met you in Plymouth meeting, but never got the chance to ask your opinion about handing a h/o a letter to have them read at their own time vs. Giving them a sales pitch at the moment to inspect the roof at that moment.
Please do not knock on my door. We have had 2 now still knock even though we have a sign. I thought it was pretty obvious we don't want people bothering us. I don't know what else I can do but I'm afraid I'll have to get mean or something. Put a locked fence around my front yard blocking off my door?
1) No Trespassing combined with No Soliciting gets the job done, especially in a Castle Doctrine state.
2) Consider what the knocks are coming in for, you may be able to address the cause.
People have to make money!!
Bottom Line. A 'No Soliciting' sign means DON"T SOLICIT period. In my community, the law is clear and I love watching door to door peddlers get ticketed by the police every time they break the law. Especially when they don't have their license with them and they end up breaking 2 laws. It's also gratifying to contact the City and have their license terminated for breaking the law. It doesn't take many $500 tickets to teach an inconsiderate parasitical peddler it's not worth challenging people who make it abundantly clear they don't want to be annoyed .
Good luck around here! The cops take 45 minutes to show up and I’m not telling the jack ass owner my name!!
They can look it up oh wait they can’t!!
I’ve gotten sales on houses with no solicitors signs. Often times the sign will still be there from when they moved in. My common response is “ I’m not selling anything today, I’m actually helping out homeowners in the neighborhood” because at the end of the day they are being helped to learn they can get something they didn’t know they could.
There is no legitimate business that is knocking on doors. You are a leech and not helping anyone
Notice how your actual response ended after a sentence or two. Then you went and typed a paragraph as if needs justification 💀
lol no wonder they all buy from me 😂
At the entrance to my development there is an “engraved, embossed” wooden sign that says “NO SOLICITING “
Yet no one wants to pay attention to it.
The line they continue to use is, “I’m working on another house in your development” as the key to knock on your door.
Not for nothin but if someone wants a service or item they’re going out to purchase it or buying it online.
Fortunately door to door bullying has gone away with the carbon copier 40 years ago.
the problem is that "it works". This is a group effort, if you have a no solicitation sign then own it. Once word gets out that, "wow, no solicitation means no solicitation" these salesman will stop. It's people who have a sign and listen to the shitty pitch anyway are the problem, you give them an inch and they'll take a mile.
DaBella seems to be drawn to no soliciting signs. I wouldn’t be surprised if they are all date-rapers, because they do not take no for an answer
How am I supposed to leave a note to sell the thing, If the entire point is that were giving out the discount today?
It’s funny you talk about leaving a letter for those who have “no soliciting” signs as though it were the nicer thing to do, which I agree with… but… I wasn’t door knocking in the first place. I was simply leaving flyers, and people were all stingy in the retirement community walking on the street or a neighbor across the street saw me and gave me attitude while I was dripping sweat and panting to finish off this section so I can drink another bottle of water. So I felt bad to even leave a flyer at the door of the “no soliciting” signs. Also, I was called by a property manager and he left a voicemail acting like it was so serious that I went around taping flyers to doors everywhere, and that he would report me to the police for vandalism due to the apparent difficulty of removing tape. And here I am doing all this in 100+ F and I’m watching these videos of young kids going door to door to do exterior window cleaning for $200+ a piece…. And I’m charging LESS than that for doing BOTH the inside and outside, AND having a very hard time with these stingy people. You almost feel guilty for making the slightest sound in the neighborhood! 😢
Also, I was reprimanded by the city for leaving flyers because they said it was horrible business practice as the flyers would advertise to potential robbers that the homeowners are not home… and I actually felt like they had a point to my disadvantage. I don’t hear this stuff being said on UA-cam!
Door to Door Soliciting by adults should be illegal. I absolutely despise someone trying to sell me at home. Only kids raising school program, summer camp money or selling cookies.
Scout cookies are a SCAM!!
In case you didn't know
You’re a mean person.. solicitors are still people trying to make a living or feed their families just like you and your family members they just happen to have a job that requires them to knock on doors .. despising people just for knocking is a new low ..now if the solicitor is rude or won’t leave when asked or threatens you then I would understand
You want tens of thousands of people to lose their jobs because you're antisocial?
You are absolutely incorrect.....
The minute anyone crosses from the easement to the yard you have to abide by the posted sign on premises and if you appreciate your life, then I would not tempt faith.😅
I actually do have a sign posted clearly saying do not knock and many times people like you ignore it because they think they are entitled!!!!!😅
Well,I answer the door butt naked 😅
I have a doorbell and they knock. I tell them if they are that dumb to not use it, why should I buy from them. If I will never buy from a door sales person. I'm home to relax
I bet you would have a different option if every single house you went to had no soliciting
lol it’s not that serious 😂
The damn baby boomers put up no soliciting signs on entire damn neighborhoods! How the hell are you supposed to get business if these assholes put up no soliciting signs! And then they say young people are lazy!
Get off my lawn!
