    I did it for my first few years on the sales & management side and I will never do it again. If you have ever seen people in neighborhood social media groups, or just in general, everyone hates it. I was good at it, but I know they hate it.
    After a major hail event is another story, because customers basically chase you down the street with insurance checks, but in general everyone hates it.
    When I learned to network and teach others how to network, I never knocked on a door or paid for advertising again. Support charities, get into networking groups, and build relationships with people who have the same target customer base as you. I promise it's better.

      @@Caleb_Johnson I actually learned the networking game from the time I spent in a Business Networking International (BNI) group. It's kind of culty, so I didn't stick around for long. The two years I did it set my career on fire in the best way possible though. I recommend looking into that, or something like it. They're everywhere.

    I have a lot of experience in door to door. My father and my brothers took me out when I was 15 years old in 1989. I would rather have a person who has no sales experience that listens and has sincere enthusiasm than the guy who comes in and tells me how to sell and says he can sell ice to eskimos and the gift of gab nonsense. He could never understand sales is more listening than being a salesman who won’t shut up.
    When I first started I was also trained on the phone and I remember that I enjoyed learning and went to every training I could. I knew that these old guys who I learned from were good but I really learned when in 2006 my friend is an attorney who was doing mortgage closings for a company and he told the owner about me and my background in knocking doors and telemarketing rooms. I set up his telemarketing room . I had 10 people dialing and I had 30 loan officers to send out on these reverse mortgage appointments. I wasn’t trained to say the words free or estimate. I set only appointments that were in need and I was trained to have all decision makers there. Most of the mortgage guys who were supposed to be good closers couldn’t write a deal on the first night if their life depended on it. My father came by to see me one day and one of the closers was telling my father how the appointment was good and your son had their daughter and son there too. My father said did you get the deal . The guy said not yet but they liked me. My father said to me that’s your best guy out of 30 closers. I said dad I realize how

    I like to mention that i live around the corner. I sometimes will say "I can provide u a free quote and give them a notpad to write their info down. When people say they arnt interested i just then ask them do u have any family? friends? co workers? neighbors? i try to keep it going some times. Also instead of a full blown roof quote i will tell them we can do repairs as well and sometimes thats abetter option for you. I just mention repairs to break the ice and make them feel more open with you and that could be the door to doing a full roof.

    The training we had knocking on a strangers door and going right in selling siding. These guys have a set appointment and there selling money. If your sales guys are a little weak then the appointment has to be tight and follow up has to be excellent.
    When we sold deals and got them financed we would run credit on a terminal and there was no such thing as a credit score and this was early 90s.

Who should sell and share in the profits? The guy that follows others and doesn't invest in himself or the responsible one?

    My WORST experience door knocking: Lady had all these ornaments, designs and signs around her yard that was about Jesus and God and on her door, it said, "May God Bless This Home". She answered the door screaming WHAT, all I said was my name is .... and I'm a Roof Specialist for, and was immediately cut off with her screaming, "Get Out Of Here Now".. I couldn't help myself, I had to say may God bless your home ma'am. 🤭 But I just prayed over her home and went on to the next.

    It is a known common courtesy to ask for permission when using the other person's ladder for an adjuster or roofer. You did instigate and bully. The roof may need to be repaired in some areas and replaced in other areas. Sometimes the carrier requests a combination of vendors to conduct independent inspections to determine the cause of loss, type of damage, and repairability vs replacement. It may seem like they are dragging their feet from one perspective. However, that has not been my experience. Sadly I have experienced many contractors and roofers who believe everything has to be replaced and never repaired. And if you paint the lamp post you also have to paint the chicken coop! Typically neither one of these have to do with the claim, but it's asked for anyways. I have witnessed roofing companies damage the roof and expect the carrier to replace the entire roof. To be fair I have also conducted reinspection, where the field adjuster wrote to cover damage that was not related to the claim. The contractor was more than glad to accept the money. Now all of us homeowners are paying higher premiums for the misdeeds of others. Things are not always so one-sided! I am a knowledgeable field adjuster and building consultant.

    I did d2d for a summer in DC selling pest control. I only did it because I needed more money to continue college. Some morons I went to school with dropped out of college to make this their “career” 🙄. I did well in sales because of hard work, practice, and God. The meetings my company would have before the day where they would scream and hype everyone up were stupid and frivolous. I ended up skipping a lot of them towards the end and that is also when I got higher sales each day. Sales culture is stupid as hell and more salesmen would do better if they just concentrated on how to get better through study and practice. Also, DON’T be fooled and make this your career. Do you really want to knock doors for the rest of your life? It’s a good summer college job, but I will leave it at that. Working a well-paid office job is far more comfortable and profitable than this shit.

      Wouldn’t agree. If you can make this a career more powerful to you. If you’re not making 100k plus selling roofs you’re not knocking enough. I know several people that door knock 9 months out of the year make 100k and some up to 260k. They take off Nov-Jan for the holidays and vacation. This is a very very lucrative business.

    • @Avsfan23
      @Avsfan23 8 місяців тому +1

      @Makeitwithmanny I'm aiming higher than that, but if you make that kind of money doing it then I'm happy for you. Hopefully your company compensates you fairly. I think salesmen should get higher commissions if they're required to pound the pavement all day to drum up business.

    It looks like you had fun making this video, but the truth of it is what you should be pointing out. They are calling themselves roofers on the street and marketers in the office...both lies. I love how the one guy at about 16 minutes in says they knock on doors that say no soliciting, because they aren't selling anything. They are selling roofs and soliciting does not only mean selling something...look it up. We just had a hail storm in the Allen TX area and we give our customers signs for their door stating the roof is already under contract and put a sign in the yard and they still knock. If you talk to the home owners they will tell you that these people are the worst. While waiting for an adjuster to show up, we saw 3 different groups of door knockers come through. I feel sorry for the home owners. One of our customers had a stack of over twenty leaflets and business cards from roofing solicitors...sad business.
