I would watch Herb and Steve grocery shopping.
Herb buying herbs
Absolutely, we got to get them to do this.
By grocery, that’s code for gear right?
They certainly have a way with words...could make almost any mundane topic seem interesting
Heck yea. These two should just have another show. I wish Herb has his own channel.
Herb is a master of using words to describe what he is hearing.
I thought he had a PhD in English.
@@jn3750 I didn`t know that ty
Too me, Herb is the "Worlds most interesting Man" I could listen to him all day.
I don't disagree but I'd have to include Nelson Pass.
This was very cool guys.
Both Steve and Herb, so humble and keeping real. Thank you.
Any interview or vid with Herb is a good one, especially when you get to look at his system. Loved it. Thanks, guys! 🎶✌️
This is the most expensive episode of “Hoarders” ever.
Lol true true
🤦♂️
I should be so lucky!
I dream of an episode of "hoarders" like that. ""Why the hell do you need so much headphones! They all sound the s---" puts one of these headphones on his/her head and the show host is just *gone* into nirvana.
And the neatest!
I marvel at Herb's commitment to keeping things that he likes. I think many people have been falsely conditioned to believe that everything gets better with the acquisition of cutting edge technology (the newest and greatest pursuit), and that mindset ultimately numbs the mental capability to simply enjoy what you presently own. What was a dream acquisition soon transitions to wanting more: to needing more. Herb's collection of personal treasures is quite refreshing. Thanks for a great share!
It’s either that or the opposite, blind faith in vintage technology and the refusal to acknowledge anything designed in the current decade lol
;-) That's classic, and a great consideration. I do admit that some vintage equipment is pretty thin under the hood. Plus, the attached power cord looks like a wire from a table lamp and the attached interconnects on the turntables are literally the red and white ended cables that every new unit tosses in the box for free. I had vintage equipment. I was born in 1960. I simply replaced it with newer items when mine died. I never considered the repair route. I have spent countless hours considering the purchase of a vintage 1970's turntable. I just don't know. They look wonderful, however I am not convinced that they sound as good as a decent turntable from today's choices (let's say something around $1000 new). Thoughts?
@@Tnapvrvideo Consider contacting Fernando at SkyFi Audio. skyfiaudio.com I've seen his turntable calibration and restoration tools and processes. He can tune playback to bring out the best sonics in any turntable.
You can get active speakers that would destroy vintage hifi.
Thx guys! I love Herb’s room and how “engineer-style” it is. Plus there’s so much stuff there! Super fun, I would spend weeks futzing with everything.
Always enjoy reading his reviews and comments on gear. With Herb you know you’re getting truth and not a paid advertisement.
It’s nice to see a mix of somewhat budget and attainable gear right next to the higher end stuff, plain old power strips and cables, and an Integra cdp being used as his transport!
Love it!
This was a great upload. I love when legit, serious audiophiles can kick back and relax, have fun and not take themselves too seriously.
love the energy that you two have. Just really fun. learn a lot from the dynamic of a conversation.
Absolutely. Terrific.
Saw the update pop up this morning. But had a brutal day today. Was looking forward to watching this all day. Totally delivered. So Good.
Great to see the den of a man who dedicated whole his life to the audio gear. Thanks Herb and keep it up.
I am also really loving these tours and commentary from Herb - really nice community involvement feel to it & a lot to be learnt! Thanks Steve
To be a reviewer is an amazing and difficult job! You guys are the best, thanks for what you do.
Thoroughly enjoyed that. Herb's a treasure and glad you guys have such a great friendship.
I love Herb! He, and you too Steve, aren't impressed by price tags. I love the fact that he loves components that real people can afford. Bravo!
Just something about Herb i really love. Steve and Herb audiophile reality series on Netflix? I’d watch!
Audiophiles with Gear getting Coffee?
@@cnhhnc Exactly! 👍😀
OMG, don't tempt us.
Brilliant interview and great to see that apartment crammed full of gear. I've been feeling a bit down about only having a small flat but my god Herb proves that the only thing holding me back is my imagination!!!
THANK YOU Herb for letting Steve show us your workshop! Wonderful insights into what “works” and why certain pieces resonate with more than just one’s ears.
Great Episode and excellent interview and “Show and Tell”.
Steve has a knack for making his interviews and “interviewees” open up and share experiences and stories we wouldn’t ordinarily have access to in print form.
Thanks Steve! Looking forward to more of these types of personal experiences with audiophiles.
Love these visits with Herb. Please continue with them!
This was sooo coooll - - thanks Herb, thanks Steve - - sooo appreciated!
Thanks for having your buddy Herb on again; you guys are like brothers. I love listening to his stories and seeing all the stuff he has and his opinions on that pile of stuff. He has some amazing equipment. I don’t know how y’all keep up with all that stuff.
Another wonderful video, Herb's work system, love the casual aspect!
Thanks, Herb and Steve, for the great commentary and components shown!
Yes, one of the best reviews I've seen in a long while. Nothing beats honesty! ...mostly attainable price bracket reviews, however the headphones are rather upscale thanks.
I always enjoy seeing people's set ups, and Herb's didn't disappoint. Great stuff... Can't wait to see Steve's new listening space too.
What a collaboration of profession and dear friendship! You guys...Bravi!
One of the best show and tell. Love you both. Peace
I love this golden interaction between two guys who value affordable audio. Now for me much of Herb's stuff pushes my version of affordability but he's so sincere and not moved by whatever is "in" with the high-end I would spend extra for something that grabs Herb as really amazing.
I love Herb. Thank you so much for the video, and Herb's incredible enthusiasm
Great interview with Herb. Thank you Steve.👍😊
Herb , He has so much passion for audio , He builds amps from kits and he is not a snob ,It’s always great to hear from Herb.
That was so enjoyable. Thanks for showing us Herb’s system.
This is great. Whenever you're not talking to Nelson Pass you should be talking to Herb Reichert
Love the Steve and Herb show. Now there is some system synergy!
I've watched this video 3 or 4 times, definitely a member of the Herb Reichert fan club. One of your best interviews Steve.
I love your your reviews, Herb and Steve! You both keep the Machine going called Audio! Thank you!💯😉
I could listen to Herb all day, what a great soul!
Steve is a wonderful interviewer.
Great to see Herb's place. Wonderful cornucopia of poetry and sound.
Please continue. This is perfect and will never be boring. Not a bit.
Steve and Herb, As a Stereophile fan for decades, it is so good to be able to see videos like this. Although you are both audiophiles, you both have a unique perspective on how things sound and when a sound is "right". I'm going to have to audition the Decware 25th Anniversary and the Magnepan 0.7 sometime soon. Looking forward to the prospect of Capital Audiofest later this year. You both help to keep audiophiles sane in this COVID isolation period. Thank you and stay safe.
Just not together! The Maggie's need way more power than 2.3 W.
Thanks for the video Steve. Herb is delightfully quirky.
Could happily listen to Steve and Herb talk about hifi all day!
Every couple of months? Excellent! (Just when I was thinking, "Yeah, I could listen to this again, soon.) 🔥🔥🔥
Great interview, I just love listening to Herb!
I don't know how many times I can watch this and have fun!
This video inspired me to swap in my homemade EL84 SET amp. What a difference over my also homemade EL34 PP triode monos. Went from about 15 W per channel to about 3 Watts. Soundstage and imaging is incredible! Driving a pair of Klipsch Tangent 10’s. Thanks to your channel Steve, you make me use all my spare time tinkering and listening! Keep up the good work!
Dan
I love to hear from audiophile reviewers who review equipment the the everyday person can afford.
Thanks Steve. This was fun. Herb is the workingman's HIFI guy - he's passionate about his craft. Made my day. Cheers Greg
Love Herb. Fascinating guy. Always appreciate his take on things and very much enjoy his writing. I wish he would grace us with a UA-cam channel. He could talk about his art, music, gear . . . hell, I'd probably tune in to listen to him read a telephone book!
Steve thank you do much for this!
I dig Herb, his writing, your interactions ... good stuff.
I realize it'd present copyright issues, ... but wouldn't it be so cool to sit and interview Herb as he listens and elucidates upon music and gear etc., ... that'd be pure gold.
Thanks Herb and Steve. Interesting and illuminating.
Thanks Herb for the tour. Never herd the Parasound A21+ or Zu speakers but they do spike my interest. Cheers!
Great Vid guys. Love watching you both.
BOTH YOU GUYS ARE A WEALTH OF INFORMATION AND KNOWLEDGE 👍I'd like to see Herb give his assessment on building a system at the different price ranges that you do Steve that would be cool.
Very rare to see this kind of sincereness and naturalness
love these guys, normal.talented and full of useful information.
this is one of my favorites! thanks Steve, thanks Herb!
GREAT hifi gear Herb !! And GREAT Paintings 👍😊
Thanks to Steve & Herb for sharing a glimpse of your convivial interaction in the inner domain of Herb's lair. Most enjoyable.
Fantastic, excellent. Thank you Herb & Steve
Love herb & you steve, both real quality, he has some lovely equipment👍
great video wonderful stuff and your art is wonderful.terrific talk between you guys.
Nice hi-fi. Nice paintings. Nice video. Nice people.
Herb and Steve together talking about what interests them. It does not get better than that for an audiophile. Yup, I am an audiophile and proud of it!
It’s like soon as you hear Herbs voice you smile and settle in for a fun ride.
Herb is an absolute genius and watching him and Steve together is magical!!!
That's going a bit far, genius ! He listens to music, and give an opinion on what he thinks he hears. Thinks !!!
I find his storytelling ability is so involving and keeps you listening.
We do love Herb! Not so shabby yourself there Audiophiliac!
Great to see inside the cave. Keep going back!
Thank you both that was a gift
This was fun! It gives a nice perspective on the hobby.
The best video ..luv it..you guys are so funny and yet so sincere
Great video guys, many thanks from the UK
Herb is the coolest!!! As real as they get!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Interesting interview I enjoyed seeing a lot of the gear I've read about and some that I have. I've liked to read about Herb and Joe Roberts since the "Sound Practices" days and the Single- Ended
Directly- Heated Triode Amplifiers. His 'Flesh and Blood' 300B article is classic. I began to wonder
if most audio 'Gearheads' are also hoarders looking through his collection everywhere even in the hallway . His home reminded me of walking through Tom Tutay's and Alan Kimmel's homes and their considerable collections. Very cool systems... I envy their knowledge how to build this quality of sound...
This was fantastic! Thanks for sharing!
Herb makes Stereophile. I'm delighted Mr. Atkinson still brings his talent to the magazine, but Herb is the reason I still subscribe.
I really enjoy seeing the kid in a candy shop enthusiasm that Herb has for so many of these amazing pieces in his room. He has designed and built amps. He sold some of the most high end AN amps. And still he is genuinely thrilled with a wide range of mid priced gear.
I like the way he says at one point "maybe I'm weird". Don't know how you could argue with that after seeing all his stuff. I would go nuts listening to different equipment every day and still try to keep a focus on music but you guys are really good at it and the world benefits from your eloquent analysis of sound. Most people's vocabulary of sound description is extraordinarily small-my favorite example is "wall of sound" which perfectly describes a complete inability to sort out what you're hearing. These guys give us better ways to talk about what we hear so thank you for that.
Wow he has some cool stuff. I'll bring dinner and drinks just to come over and listen.
So beautiful and lovely to see the boys play with their beloved toys;-) I mostly stay home aswell, i love to play my homebrewn racket, hahahaha.
Great video Steve!! ...and Herb!😎🔊
Fantastic interview! Ultra informative.
Herb is a very talented artist. His paintings and sketches are worth more than his kit!
Love the videos with Herb!

Beautiful system and very interesting gear.
I love the professional even industrial look of that phono stage.
love the christmas lights -- clearly not a noise reduction freak
Nice video, gotta luv Herb!🍻🍸
There’s so much stuff in that room, there’s absolutely no way any of that gear can sound it’s best. It also appears any gear that goes into the room is bound to get banged up. I realize people have different priorities but I keep gear for sometimes decades and if I were ever to sell a piece, it’s highly likely to be in mint condition. Just my nature.
Nothing like putting your turntable almost on top of your speaker! And stacking components, jesus! No isolation stuff, either... tubes love vibration!
Love Herb. Could listen to guys talk everyday.
Also, I really like when you put the names of things over the video. You and the folks that you interview know these pieces by quick numeric shorthand, but we neophytes need more hand holding. Thanks 🤩
I love Herb's paintings.
I really like Herb’s comment on how one has to feel good about their hifi products; it’s not just about one product being ten percent better than the other.
Somehow, Mr.HR seems like 50% of the reasons I enjoy reading Stereophile.
Q: where are all the Boxes needed to Ship back to the Manufacturers ????
Mr. Steve G and Tyll were the greatest team-up , now Mr.HR and Mr. Audiophiliac are the greatest Team-up in all of Audiophile Publication World.
Tony in Venice Florida
Herb and Steve, keeping it real so that us normal people have somewhere to go to get good advice on audio gear. I could watch Herb all day long.
