    How does the Float X feel compared to the Super Deluxe Ultimate? It seems like it's meant to be a competitor at least in the aspect of a bigger negative air chamber and only 2 dials for low speed rebound/compression.

    I’d recommend getting something to make the trail video much smoother. Chest mount? Camera with smoothing? Gimbal? The shock seems good but thing there is not much difference and price and some overlap.

    Great comparison! I've really been thinking about just buying a frame (Canyon Spectral 29) and building my own bike from the ground up. You really showed me, in a practical way, the difference between these 3 shocks and, for me, I think the Float X is the best choice. Cheers and keep it up!

    Just bought this shock for a Santa Cruz Blur. The SidLuxe in 100mm travel wasn’t cutting it. The 190x45 DPS (bumping the bike to 115mm travel) was ok. Not having compression dampening was the main motivation for the switch. I’m hoping to eliminate or limit the shock blowing through the stroke on small chop and eliminate the pogo stick feel of the rebound while running higher air pressure.

    I have a 2019 Stumpjumper Comp Carbon 29" in XL and I'm looking at upgrading my rear shock. It has the DPS Performance on it which is one of the last original parts on the bike haha. I've been eyeing up the Float X recently. I'm not sure if the X2 would fit on my frame because of the side arm design and it might be a bit overkill for a 140mm trail bike. I also considered the DHX because I have a coil on my Commencal Meta Power SX Race and it feels so nice and plush but I'm also aware that they are expensive, you have to get the right coil for your weight and leverage ratio so potential for extra money spent if I don't get the right spring and also it wont have the progression of an air shock and I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) that the Stumpy doesn't have a lot of progression in it's leverage ratio. That being said, I remember back in the day when Specialized were using the 2019 Stumpjumper for their EWS athletes, they were running an Ohlins coil shock so maybe it'll be ok. Anyway, long story short, would you recommend the Float X or a different shock for my bike? I'm 194cm tall, around 105kg in riding gear and 2020 Fox Factory 36 Grip2 up front. I ride mostly trail/flow with some harder enduro black trails and I'm a very competent rider. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

      Put shock to fastest rebound and then slowly roll off a curb while sitting down. You should bounce once or twice before the shock settles. Slowly decrease the rebound until you just return to the settle point instead of bouncing up and down.

    I bought this shock for my FUEL EX which is an all rounder trail bike. It has a 140mm Fox 36 GRIP 2 factory, and I am replacing the Reactiv Thru Shaft shock with this. I know it offers plushness, but how is the climbing performance? The Reactiv is pretty good for going up stuff but really falls apart going down, and I know this will help the going down part but not be a snooze at climbing. I had considered a DPX2 but went with the Float X as it seemed to offer a lot of improvement overall. Any feedback on the climbing with this shock in open mode?

    Does fox give you any information about the architecture of this shock? If they do or if you can get it a lot of us real enthusiasts can benefit. Please up the real tech talk in these reviews for the betterment of the industry. I'd love to know what the circuit and piston designs are like. Does it use a valved piston like the DPX2 or poppets like the X2? If it's valved does it use those silly square reed valves like the DPX2 or a more traditional circular valve? Basically we need to know if we can tune the dang thing.

      Great question! Some levels up builds from Transition do come with the Float X and it is a fine shock! After many big repeated hits that you might find in a bike park, going to a rear shock with a little more volume would help. If you would like to stay with air, the Super Deluxe Ultimate pairs great with a ZEB. If you prefer a Fox rear shock, the Float X2 is amazing.

    How many LSR adj clicks does the 2022 Float X shock have?
    Got a new bike recently, came with a 2022 Float X Performance Elite. The adj knob on the rebound only has a range from 1 to 12, and also, thats all that is edged on the dial.
    Fox's webpage on the shock states it has 16 clicks on LSR, and the tuning guide pdf from the same webpage mentions only a 10 click range on LSR. The picture of the shock on Fox's page only goes to 12 apparently . Everywhere there is a review on the shock mentions them as 16 clicks (copy paste from fox's website?). So which is it, or did I get another year model? Fake? Serial number on fox states its a 2022.
    LSC seems right I guess, everywhere they mention 12. Thats what I have on mine if you count "0" as being a click, since it only has 11.

    Does the new DHX coil loose the high speed rebound and compression adjustments?

    • @TheLostCo
      @TheLostCo  3 роки тому

      Correct. The new DHX just has low speed compression and low speed rebound. The DHX2 is very much still a shock, though, so that's the one you would get if you wanted the high speed adjustments,

      @ruturaj47 3 роки тому

      I had the exact same question, (since I own spectral 27.5). I assume lots of brands would have to make this decision. Unlike this video all other reviews are saying DPX2 is being phased out.

    Bummed to learn they won't be making a Float X option that fits my V1 Pivot Switchblade. So what would you recommend for a 135M rear travel bike if my options are X2 and DPX2? I'm currently running the DPS.

      @TheLostCo  Рік тому

      There is not. Only 2022 and newer. There was also a previous version of the Float X which was discontinued in MY2017. The DPX2 was a similar shock that existed in MY2021, though.
