  • The GMC Yukon, along with its extended version, the Yukon XL, has a bit of a hidden truth. Even though they are marketed as premium vehicles with unique design features, both are fundamentally built on the same platform as the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. This is advantageous, as GM's full-size SUVs offer a selection of two reliable V-8 engines and a fuel-efficient diesel engine that can achieve up to 27 mpg on the highway. The Yukon models are equipped with an independent rear suspension, significantly enhancing their ride quality and handling compared to the previous generation's solid rear axle. Inside, they can accommodate up to eight passengers across three rows of seating, with ample cargo space for various needs. Each Yukon comes with a 16.8-inch vertical touchscreen infotainment system that includes Google built-in software, providing access to a wide range of applications. Additionally, there is a Wi-Fi hotspot and support for wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Passengers in the back rows can also enjoy comfort, as the Yukon features luxurious captain's chairs. Buyers can customize the Yukon from basic to high-end options, including the well-equipped Denali and Denali Ultimate trims.
Cosmetic changes include a redesigned front end with new grille and headlight styles, and the lighting elements can now display animations. For the first time, eye-catching 24-inch wheels come standard on the Denali Ultimate and are an option for the regular Denali. The Denali Ultimate now includes second-row executive seating and a 22-speaker Bose sound system. A new technological feature is GM's night vision with thermal object detection, and the infotainment system boasts a vertical 16.8-inch touchscreen. The Yukon offers a selection of two gasoline V-8 engines and a diesel engine. The standard engine for the Elevation and AT4 is a 355-hp 5.3-liter V-8, while the Denali and Denali Ultimate come with a standard 420-hp 6.2-liter V-8, which is also available on the AT4. Additionally, all models can be equipped with a diesel 3.0-liter inline-six engine that now delivers 305 horsepower and 495 pound-feet of torque, an increase from 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet. Every Yukon is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and offers rear-wheel or all-wheel drive options. For 2025, the gear shifter has transitioned from dashboard buttons to a more user-friendly lever on the steering column. The off-road-oriented AT4 model features a two-speed transfer case, 20-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, underbody skid plates, and an optional air suspension that can provide an additional two inches of ground clearance.
On paper, the most capable towing option is the rear-wheel-drive model with the 5.3-liter V-8, rated for 8,400 pounds. The 6.2-liter V-8 is rated for 8,200 pounds, which is the same as the Duramax diesel. The diesel engine's 495 pound-feet of torque exceeds that of the larger V-8 by 35 pounds. Importantly, the diesel achieves its maximum torque below 2,000 rpm, while both V-8 engines reach peak torque at higher revolutions.
GMC has not yet disclosed the pricing for the 2025 Yukon lineup. The new Elevation trim replaces the previous entry-level SLE and SLT, which started at approximately $60,000 and $67,000 last year, respectively.
The 2025 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL are anticipated to start around $64,000, with prices reaching up to $102,000 depending on the chosen trim and options.

@@DigitalYojimbo $125,000 is considered a low starting price for the 2025 GMC Yukon because it's a large, full-size luxury SUV loaded with advanced features and premium materials. For comparison, other manufacturers like the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and Range Rover typically start around or above this price range, offering similar luxury and performance.
