Golden Temple of Amritsar | World's largest kitchen feeds 100,000 people daily

Golden Temple of Amritsar also known as Harmandir Sahib or Darbar Sahib, is one of the most revered spiritual sites in Sikhism. Golden Temple is the holiest Gurdwara (Sikh place of worship) and a symbol of human brotherhood and equality. The temple is known for its stunning architecture, serene ambiance, and the spiritual significance it holds for millions of Sikhs worldwide.
The temple is built on a rectangular platform in the center of a sacred pool, known as the Amrit Sarovar (Pool of Nectar), which gives the city of Amritsar its name. The temple's sanctum is adorned with gold-plated walls and a dome, which is gilded with approximately 750 kilograms of pure gold, giving the temple its popular name. Golden Temple of Amritsar houses the Guru Granth Sahib, the holy scripture of Sikhism, which is recited continuously throughout the day.
One of the most remarkable features of the Golden Temple is the Langar, a free community kitchen which is also the World's largest community kitchen feeds 100,000 people daily that serves meals to all visitors, regardless of their caste, creed, or religion. The tradition of Langar was initiated by Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, and is an embodiment of the Sikh principles of selfless service and equality. The kitchen operates 24/7, and on an average day, it serves around 100,000 people. The Langar is run entirely by volunteers, and the food is prepared with donations from devotees.
