I swear, I learn like 10 new things from every Texturelabs video, and the techniques are things I'd never even thought to use. Great job as always, Brady! Proud to be a patron.
Right on - ya, it's funny how some of the effects in AE sit there for a long time until something clicks and you realize what they'd be useful for. Part of why I like watching Jake in Motions Effects of AE series, just to see everything with fresh eyes.
Absolutely mind-bending tutorial for me. I never use Calculations normally! As for Extract, I think the effect Gradient Wipe might accomplish something similar?
For YEARS I was begging around in how-to threads for a Blend If equivalent in Ae. Then you just casually drop it like "Oh? This old thing?". This is a big day for me!
This is the best After Effects tutorial I've seen in a while. Very inspiring! Wish I knew about this effect when I was working on some disintegration VFX a couple months ago!
Jesus man. I've been playing with AE off and on almost since day one and I wouldn't have thought of this if I'd had another thousand years to tinker with it.
Extract! OMG.. Since I understood "Blend if" from you uses, I was wondering why there wasn't an equivalent of it in AE, because it is now part of my logic. But there is! Thanks! Great tutorial as always!
There's so many ways to combine and tweak effects in after effects, it makes Photoshop look kind of simple and uncool by comparison. Makes me wish I got into this program more. I can only imagine the wild tricks you'd get up to in blender. hoping you got some cool Photoshop stuff in the bag, whenever you jump back on youtube.
So cool. Looking forward to trying this with different displacement maps. Dorky sub question: What's the music track you used in the opening of this spot (GFX part)? I like the vibe

Actual genius-level tutorials. I'm always amazed at the results you get out of seemingly obscure effects :)
It’s been a while, I hope you’re doing okay. You make the best tutorials I’ve ever seen and I’m really missing them.
Still alive and well on the patreon as of December 13th, hope that helps
That’s something I never would have thought to do. Especially the extract effect. I always forget it exists. Thanks for the insight!

For YEARS I was begging around in how-to threads for a Blend If equivalent in Ae. Then you just casually drop it like "Oh? This old thing?". This is a big day for me!

Dorky sub question: What's the music track you used in the opening of this spot (GFX part)? I like the vibe

This one is above my pay grade. super interesting tho, i hope to learn one day.
How well's this work on shot footage and not a static flat colors image?
Great
I have seen many times the green and red gradients trick but not in deep, does anyone know of any other video where this trick is explained more?
