If you have 80+ locs, I definitely suggest combining 1-4 of your real locs per faux loc. You’ll end up with less faux locs on your head so that will be less tension and have that flatter/less bulky look. Technique I got from a stylist that specializes in faux locs over real locs.
🥰 hi everyone I did butterfly locs not to long ago on my self , but please don’t do the crochet method it is very dangerous to loca an can cause thinning at the root. You can achieve the same look by just tying the loc around your real loc which will be help to take out in the end anyways
who wants to sit that long to wrap each one individually! Besides crotchet are easy to take out all I do is cut the ends and slide the hair down and it unravels ! people over react nd don't have patience that's why they can't take the time to take them out correctly tbh !
Thank you. I understand ur trying to help in the long run cause it really can thin your locs. I’d rather be patient and do your method instead of crocheting it and thinning my locs
They look really good, but I can understand not being comfortable no matter how good they look. Maybe putting multiple of your smaller locs into one faux POC twist would help minimize the fullness.
Yes I have 66 locs and I got soft locs put in about 3 weeks ago for a trip. My scalp was so sore for a week I couldn’t even put them up and that was my whole point in getting to put my hair up at the beach. My head is super heavy, I’m on UA-cam right now trying to find how to take them out and I came across this video. They are pretty but it’s time to let my neck rest 😂
Thanks for this. I bought some faux locs a few months ago and god a little stressed and scared that I wouldn't be able to do, but this was a perfect and tutorial. Excited for my 30th coming up.
I've just done mine and idk what kind of locs they're called, maybe distressed? But they're chunky AND I put them over my mini twists! I'm like omg I can't even put this in a ponytail!! Luckily I only did half length like maybe 16 inch, but that also makes it harder to try and ponytail it and style because it's short and chunky and many! I have a couple trips coming up so I can't redo everything. I have many other issues too as I rarely do my hair in weave styles and this is my first time trying locs but my goodness lesson learned!
I have 54 locs and its still straining on my head w soft locs ive been trying to find out ways to put them in without the pulling and stress but i dont think its possible even with thick locs. I love the faux style so much imma keep trying and when i find out how i will let my sis stars KNoW! Its def not good for our hair for many reasons! Even to the point of thining, balding even 😂 my oh MY! But im def bout to put some fauxs in 😂 🥴🥴🥴 chillleeee
Im trying to figure out how to not do the roots, maybe attach the pre made loc to the middle like Chloe And Halle. 😂😂 yea im researching hard! We cant go out like this any longer
@ ItsBy Faith yea that’s how saw someone do them by attaching them towards the end it looked light weight too that’s the method ima use I’ll be doing some soon
If you don’t have soft fine hair and you wrap super tight then i don’t see why not. I’ve done faux locs & just wrapped the hair tighter instead of crocheting.
I combined mine n made 75 locs...still too bulky...there's a technique I think would've been better. To add the faux loc towards the end of your natural loc cause if not it's wayyy too bulky
I have had my Locs for 27 years. You don’t need to re-twist them that much. You’re going to break your Locs. Mine are down to my butt over 30”. They would be longer, but I trim them every 2-3 months. I don’t like sitting on my hair and you have to deal with other things when they are this long also. Like the bathroom…. Washing and Drying time during the winter all kinds of things. People wanting to touch it or people coming up and pulling it. Which is NEVER ok. It’s actually an assault charge. Anyway stop twisting your hair so much. If you’re going to a salon and getting it done they want you to come in and get it re-twisted to make money,do it yourself.
I’m the only person who has ever done my retwist and I don’t do it tight at all. I have to wash my hair weekly because I work out so I am going to retwist it. This is an old video but I’ve had them for 2 years this month & they seem to be doing fine.
I have 62 and did this. It wasn't heavy to me. But I also had locs down to my butt for 12 years (03-15) before I combed them out. So I think my neck is just strong lol
They weren’t difficult to take down. & i know you didn’t ask, but i wouldn’t do it on starter locs, especially comb coils 🙆🏾♀️ it just seems like the install would hurt them
@@babyaung9040 does your hair need to be freshly retwisted before installing? I have been doing semi free form and I'm worried it will get tangled with my natural hair at the roots since they are not twisted
If you watched any videos i posted before this one, i had extensions at first and was honest about not intending to keep them, but i grew to like them over time, which led me to removing the extensions and embracing my natural locs, which i did not have prior to the extensions. My hair locd over time with the extensions. Then after a month of wearing my real locs, i put the soft locs in because my color faded and i wanted to take a break from retwisitng and coloring. I know you wouldn’t know that because i only post once a month here. But in real life I’m wearing my real locs every day. So yes I’m sure but everyone’s journey is different & i love changing my hair ❤️

so true
Thank you! I was wondering this since I have 117

Jesus lady..you're using nail glue to maintain a hairstyle..I think I'll seek advice elsewhere
You just made me count my locs and I have 154 locs 😩😩
They look really good, but I can understand not being comfortable no matter how good they look. Maybe putting multiple of your smaller locs into one faux POC twist would help minimize the fullness.
omg you did a lot ! i have 75 locs but i combine locs in the back in twist then i put the soft locs. So i only have 50 soft locs on my head .

I'm right there with u n I just finished mine...they look cute but I'm hating them
I like this but I would only do this method in the front and back braid down the crown area and crochet the rest in but I love the outcome
Thanks for this. I bought some faux locs a few months ago and god a little stressed and scared that I wouldn't be able to do, but this was a perfect and tutorial. Excited for my 30th coming up.

Girl they are nice, I am going to combine mine. I have about 110 in my head
Mines was so heavy, but this time I double my locs .
I have like 90 locs so I might just use 2 per faux loc so it doesn't look too crowded 👍🏽
Girly, I did mine and I did this at 36 and I have 100 dreads.

I loveee it! I have seen them down to people's knees! I was going to pay someone to do it but I can't get jiggy with paying $200+ the hair 🤣
I am screaming!! Jiggy took me out!!😂😂😂 but I DEFINITELY feel that!!
I prefer you with your short natural locs, they look beautiful 😊🤗❤️
I loved them too, especially right before she cut them out. It looked like they finally grew into their own.
@@BuckleBunny Wait, she cut out all of her own natural locs?
The look on your face says ... what the hell did I get myself into..lol..I get it.. your hair looks nice
I really was thinking that halfway through like omg why didn’t i just pay someone to do it
That’s just what I said when my daughters who have locs wanted this style. She has 122 locs “Not I” I told her.
I tried this but it was way too much hair. I never counted mine but I definitely have a lot of hair😢
I did two strands b4 i did the soft locs n they still too bulky.
not me seeing this video AFTER i already finished doing this style 💀 mine also look like a lot lol but it’s tolerable. i have 80 locs
Was it hard for you to take them out?? I just did mine
This video is a bit long for me….can someone give me the main points?
Agreed
I have 91.. I want to try it hopefully it’s not too heavy.
Do I need to do the crochet method cause baby I’m just tryna wrap them around and boom lol
If you don’t have soft fine hair and you wrap super tight then i don’t see why not. I’ve done faux locs & just wrapped the hair tighter instead of crocheting.
I’ve been wrapping mine without the crochet method .I buy the 3x pre stretched hair , grab some and wrap my actual dread all the way down.
It would be more comfortable attaching the faux loc further down your locs
I put that like frabic rubber bands the really small one at my roots and i put like 3 locs together to make my parts smaller
Hi Baby Aung 😍 it looks beautiful despite your pain from the heaviness, I have a question what is the color name of the water wave hair that you got?
I have 78 locs. I’m going to try this
Hi, if you don't mind can you keep me updated on this please? I have 78 locs as well.

Putting braid in the middle and crotching them in can help with them being heavy
How do you take them out
how are they removed

I had to combine some of my locs when I had soft locs cause when I say my head started getting heavy 🥴
How do u do that ?😫 because I’m about to Do some on mine
I did this same thing and was like "oh nooooo next time i need to combine Locs when I cover them"
I combined mine, now I had them in for 30days and I am afraid they are now 1 loc🤣🤣🤣
How many packs of water wave did you use ?
How long did it take
Won’t combining them eventually make them lock together, I don’t think I would do that.
No, they wont loc together.
So you have too soak them in hot water?
Only the ends if u want them to be a little looser when u first do it
I have 88 dreads
They look good but next time try doubling ur locs. It makes it less Hair
i did tht but it still look like a lot cause i have 156 locs😭
I got 57 locs lol let’s see how mine look
I have 74 lol. I'm going to try it
I have 62 and did this. It wasn't heavy to me. But I also had locs down to my butt for 12 years (03-15) before I combed them out. So I think my neck is just strong lol
I have 93 😅 ill be doing these soon
I have 67 and I am scared and ready to combine some lml
How'd it go?
I have starter loc and want to get these for vacation... are they difficult to take down
They weren’t difficult to take down. & i know you didn’t ask, but i wouldn’t do it on starter locs, especially comb coils 🙆🏾♀️
it just seems like the install would hurt them

I have 80 locs do you think that will be a struggle
let me just say it depends on your head size. i have 87 locs in my head rn and i look fine with my soft locs
@@helenswanson9346 I have 86. I’m scared lol were they really heavy?
Please 3:37
Double the locs
