thank you so much for this. there's a huge anti-zoo wave right now (probably exasperated by shows like tiger king and the efforts of certain 'animal rights' groups). but zoos do SO MUCH to help the world and spread education
What they’re *really* technically doing is advocating for trophy hunting. In some ways, yes, for a lot of animals it’s either death or captivity (I’ll explain that later), but at the same time I don’t see the likes of SCI or Dallas Safari Club advocating for these buzzwords such as “legal” or “sustainable” gorilla and chimpanzee hunting, despite the fact that both are considered “endangered” and “critically-endangered” on the IUCN Red List mostly due to poaching for the bushmeat trade, but lions? Sure. Elephants? You bet. Rhinos? Not a problem. Gorillas? Okay, that’s a little iffy right there. “Emotions over facts”, like they always say? 🤔
Well we just night be able to JOIN YOU because Las Cruces New Mexico needs a Zoo and hopefully the Director is willing to meet this challenge for the Efforts of Wild Life Protection Efforts...
He's safer this way, all wild animals are better off In a natural isolated park then in the wild where they are a danger to everyone and where hunters can kill them.

If I see another damn “it’s so sad that they are in this prison, they deserve to be in the wild” in the comments section of a zoo footage video…
