In middle school Anna moved from a private school to a public school and she didn't know anybody - she was dreading the new school year. She wanted to meet people, and always liked singing, so she was bold and she tried out for the middle school talent show, and got accepted! She also got recruited by the Choir teacher and so she joined choir, and that's where she met Leah.
Leah was your typical popular girl - talented and pretty, and everyone wanted to be her friend. Then, in the summer before 8th grade Anna was finally allowed to get on social media and she found Leah on instagram. Leah started following Anna on instagram and messaged her to say hi. They kept messaging each other and liking each other's posts, and when the new school year finally started, they became best friends, bff's, inseparable.
Anna had never had a best friend like Leah. They were truly, truly best friends, at least up until the summer before 10th grade - sophomore year. Anna was part of a larger friend group, and Leah had been part of it as well, until something happened, an argument or silly disagreement, but it ended up having Leah leave the group.
After the lockdown had ended in their city, Anna tried to arrange for the whole group to get together again, including Leah - she wanted to rekindle the relationship - but nobody was free at the same time and they couldn't schedule it. So Anna just texted Leah to see how she was doing and if she wanted to get together and hang out. But, even though she had read the text message, she didn't reply. Anna didn't think it was a big deal, that Leah would just text her back later, but later came and went without a text back from her.
Anna messaged and texted her every day to see if she was okay and never got a response. Her best friend ghosted her for three weeks. Ghosted for three weeks!! One day Anna decided to just call her and she actually picked up. Anna asked what she had done to get ghosted like that, and Leah went off on her - ultimately saying that Anna was a bad friend because she didn't comment on Leah's instagram posts. Anna couldn't believe it - she was being called a bad friend, and being ignored and ghosted, just because she didn't comment on Instagram?!?!? Then Leah hung up on her. Anna was left crying herself to sleep - one of the saddest days of her life.
But, after some time passed she realized she was actually happier without Leah, and that the relationship was really toxic. Leah always insulted Anna and put her down and made her feel bad about herself. She made fun of her looks, her personality, what she did, who she liked, everything. And Anna just wasn't okay with that, and finally realized that nobody deserves to be around someone who puts them down like that, or requires bizarre things like commenting on Instagram posts to show you are a friend.
It's pretty bad, being ghosted or having to say she ghosted me.

I completely related to this. Around the end of lockdown, my best friend ghosted me because she misread something I had texted her. It was only a month later after we weren’t friends anymore that I realized how toxic she was. I ghosted one of my best friends once. It was really rough, there was a lot of stuff we were both going through but i felt horrible that i wasnt there for him. He was struggling so much and thought i hated him, when it was more complicated than that. We repaired the relationship thankfully

Popular ppl usually are "toxic". Have had it happen to me and I ended up in a circle of good friends.❤️ We all agreed that their parents were just rich mommy and daddy and they were entitled.
I had this friend- during hard times he'd help me get through it even during lonely times.. but we started chatting less and less and sooner or later it was like we were complete strangers... I miss talking to him- I appreciate and cherished every time he was there for me- and it hurt me a lot that he suddenly just ghosted me- a few months had passed and I see he's finally online again but...he had new friends- he had no intentions of getting our friendship back- and it shattered me..

I have another story:
I had this friend that I'll call "Rachel" four years ago and we were unseparable since Elementary and I always looked up to her: I helped her in homework, defended her, supported her in anything, listened to her, and even started loving her after a while, but four years ago I had the worst year in my life and due to family trouble I had to travel into another city for a while. When I came back My friend got other friends and completely left me behind (She never talked to me) At first I thought "Well she just got other friends, that's ok, no big deal" I was ok with being alone and even felt better without her, untill my parents sent me to a therapist (mainly because of the shitty year we all had) and this therapist told me to get other friends because that would be "Healthier for me" and so I listened to him: I searched for new friends and not long after I found this one girl that I'll call "Claire" Claire and I would hang out a lot and stick together in parties and shit like that, untill Rachel showed up again: This bitch literaly screamed at me for "Trying to snatch her friend" and I found out that Rachel and Claire were friends. I told Rachel that I didn't even know that Claire and her were friends and then she told that she was embarrassed of me ever since our "friendship" because I always stalking her and never respected her, I told her that I didn't mean any of that (YES I ACTUALLY THOUGHT I WAS THE ONE WHO DID SOMETHING WRONG) and I would stay away from Claire if she felt uncomfortable with that, and Rachel being the bitch she is literally snatched Claire's wrist and yelling at me for embarrassing her.
I literaly threw a great friendship to the garbage just because of her, because a bit later Claire mooved from our school and I never saw her again, and yet after that I still THOUGHT I DID EVERYTHING WRONG AND IT WAS MY FAULT THAT CLAIRE AND RACHEL LEFT. Fortunately a year later I had to moove from that school due to money issues and me trying to make things better with Rachel so I asked for her number politely, but this CRAZY BITCH literally screams to me again "I know that you've always been jealous of me, you want to sabotage my life in every oportunity you have and I hate you for being such a bad friend" I then wispered softly in order to not make her more mad a "Sorry" after that we never spoke again.
It's been a while and now I think things are better: I have new sincere friends that love me and support me no mater what, and I'm thankfull for them

i went throught the exact same thing, i've cut my friend off and now we're both doing a lot better! i still check up on her from time to time and she does the same for me, but we both understand that we'll never really be friends again, which we've both come to accept
