What an inspiring story. I have been blind my entire lif, so have no idea what it is like to see. I can only imagine how scary it must have been to wake up with no vision. I’m glad you had people to support you on your journey to independence
Thank you so much for your uplifting and lovely comment. Appreciate it very much. Also thank you for sharing your story. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
You really are so strong. I still have light and some shadows in my right eye. Sometimes it feels like it doesn’t help at all and other times it’s all I cling to. I know eventually I too will be totally blind. I feel like such a coward since I’m so scared for that day. A part of me just wishes it will happen to get it over with. Thank you for proving there is still hope and happiness ahead. It means more than you know. You have become one of my favourite channels to follow. I look forward to each time you post. It’s comforting to know I’m not alone.
Oh my goodness, what a truly heartwarming message, thank you for your words. Please don’t feel a coward, because it’s your feelings and they are very real to you. I know the torment and the anxiety you are feeling but I want to reiterate and try to reassure you that there is hope, life and opportunities out there. Definitely don’t feel alone and reach out to those people you trust and to services that can offer that support. I’m only a comment away to so please feel free to reach out to me as well. Take good care of yourself and remember, be kind to yourself to. X
I came across your video accidentally while I was looking at a video comparing white canes. I felt your emotion Siobhan and I couldn’t stop my tears as I listened to you. I’m legally blind but not completely blind. I used to work as a midwife but at this stage, I can still work as a mental health nurse with limitations. When you talked about being bullied about your blindness I sobbed. I have been getting bullied by a male co-worker about my blindness and hearing your emotion when you spoke about being bullied made me feel like I have an ally that truly understands the impact of this kind of bullying. I have been refusing shifts and isolating in my safe place… my bedroom. I know I have to change my behaviour as I can’t just keep hiding from the world so I want to thank you for sharing your message of hope. Sending you love and thanks. Donna from Australia 💗🌸🍃
Wow, thank you so much for your lovely message. I am truly sorry to hear that you are experiencing bullying in the workplace. That breaks my heart because I know all too well the devastating impact bullying can have, not just on your mental health, but on your physical well-being too. It’s painful, exhausting, and it can make you feel isolated in ways that words can’t fully capture. If you haven’t done so already, I really encourage you to reach out to someone within your workplace who can offer you the support you deserve. You don’t have to face this alone, and there are people who can help advocate for you. I’m also more than happy to exchange details or be there for you in any way that might help-whatever support you need, I’m here. Please keep holding on to your inner strength. Just from reading your words, I can tell you have a resilient and powerful spirit. It shines through even in the toughest of times. Keep fighting, my friend-you are worth so much more than the way they’re treating you. You have an incredible light, and no one should be allowed to dim it. Stay strong. Xx
I am going blind the doctors are telling me I don't have much vision left I feel alone and lost I keep dropping things I feel like a burden on the people around so I stay to myself and I feel confused I don't no where this is taking me but thank you for putting this video up it's good to here from people who went through it saying it can get better thank you
Bless your heart. I've just seen your comment. I know it's easy for me to say, but please don't feel a burden on anyone around you. Do reach out to someone you trust and let them know how you feel. I really empathise with where you are in your sight lost journey, but please don't struggle alone. I'm more than happy to catch up with you office platform if that would help? X
There are as many who need your help and there are! services, Barclays bank do a video service ,i'm neurodiverse there are no 24\7 services if you're an adult ,i've been right !at the bottom, but wanting to live is VERY STRONG ,VERY ,VERY STRONG ,Yeshua(Jesus) ,his \the ruach ha kodesh (pronounced rooack ha codesh)holy spirit keep me safe ,don-t be mistaken you can still be threatened BUT you'll be safe if you trust!
Hard to watch as I myself lost suddenly hearing in one ear while eating breakfast and it took me about two years to get over it. I can't even imagine what you went through. All the best.
Bless your heart. That must have been incredibly difficult for you to go through. Anything sudden is hard to deal with. I hope you are doing okay now. Thank you for your lovely comment. Take care.
Awww Jesus I just cried! This is a sad but vitally important video for you and for people facing sight loss or supporting someone. I remember this day well for myself too xx sending hugs!
Oh bless you lovely. Sending you hugs back. You know exactly what I’m talking about as you’ve been through the same process to. I do think it’s important to talk about because although my life is now positive, happy and going well, it’s important to also talk about those days during that time when things weren’t great. I want to be real and open to people to give them hope that there is A life worth living. I didn’t go into every detail and emotion I felt because it would be too much in my opinion to talk about but yes, the thought of suicide definitely was there. Xxx
😭bless your heart Siobhan such a sad Journey that you had to go through Feeling terrified feeling scared feeling helpless there’s nothing worse but you got through it You had the love and support of everyone everyone rallied around you everybody loved and cared about you and they still do 22 year’s later you’ve come a long way since then be proud of yourself be proud of the person that you are now Because I am proud of you and I love you for the person that you are!
I really do appreciate your lovely words, they mean so much to me. I think it’s important to not only share the positive parts of life but equally I want to be open, honest and real. Even though I was in the pit of despair that day, and months afterwards but there is hope and happiness.
So powerful and so moving. Thank you for sharing this with the world. I am so glad you got the love and support you deserve, to come through as the shining light you are today! ❤️❤️ xxx
Ouch. This is a difficult watch. I can't imagine how difficult that must've been. The nearest I could get to it is not being able to walk after my back operation and then being on bed rest for 6 months. I then learned to walk after another 9 months in a rehabilitation hospital. The only scary part of that was meeting Peter Morrison MP but even that was nowhere near as scary as what you must've gone through.
Siobhan. Yet again I'm blown away by your strength. Sending hugs to your 16 year old self and the lovely woman you are now. Your courage and determination will inspire others facing similar issues.
Such beautiful words, thank you so much for commenting and for making me smile. My aim is to hopefully raise awareness about sight loss but to also offer hope and reassurance to those recently diagnosed. Thank you. X

Okay, I’ve had a word with her, and as I’m blind myself I’m allowed to have some fun with this so let’s get ready for that…. Okay, so you’re blind now, and you can’t see what you could before, but on the plus side if you look rough one morning, you won’t be able to see it. That’s cheerful. At the cinema, it might be a bit crap not being able to see the screen, but the good news is you can take someone else in for free yay. The Eiffel Tower, climbing to the top of that’s pretty pointless when you can’t see it isn’t it? On the plus side they let you skip the queue. Pretty rubbish not being able to drive, but it’s okay, you can get a very tiny small marginal discount on the train hotah. Yes cheer up Siobhan. Thanks so much Ray. I do often think about you and how you are getting on. Hope life and everything is treating you well. I miss you doing my hair too. Loved our chats. X
Do you think the school did the best they could here? I'm surprised you had to call out for help when they knew you had just lost all your sight and this was a school for blind and visually impaired children where surely people had suffered sudden dramatic or total vision loss in the past. They (or a staff member they knew you got on with and trusted) should have been there with a gentle knock in the morning, an arm round the shoulder as much as you needed it and words of reassurance that things would get easier even though they knew you were scared and disoriented at the time (and keeping the bully well away). Do they think about how these things affect someone in the long term? (Or maybe it should be "did they" because most blind schools, including that one, have closed.)
I collided with a swing door. I was going through one way and there was a child coming through the other and the door swung into me. Nobody's fault, it was a pure accident

Siobhan spoke of the boy in school who mocked her for being blind. I wonder if he remembers his disgusting behaviour ?
I hope he does. Then again people don't always think about their actions later on in life. I hope that you are well.
I honestly dont think i would have coped or even still be here. Her strength and resilience are impressive
