Thx Bill! It was a fun afternoon I won’t be forgetting. Hope this season is off to a great start for you and thx so much for watching and supporting TW! 👊
I have been fishing jigging raps for 46 years and this new one also looks like a super winner. I even buy off brand wanna be's and they work as well but not as good as raps. I have caught perch, bluegills, crappie's, bass, walleye's, pike, white bass and white fish on raps. My very first fish with them were ice fishing crappies, they were suspended 6 feet down in 14 feet of water. The fish locator at that time was my self laying on the ice and seeing them swim by. So yes i went to using them for perch fishing and you want to do a bang up job oh ya. Even to this day i will use jigging raps for perch fishing over live minnows. And yes you can feel the bite and like you have said in your 50+ tips slow and short strokes And that is ice fishing them. And you young man have earned a new subscriber!
Great video man! Ive used these ice fishing up here in Wisconsin and did some serious damage on the walleyes. Going to try them on the open water also! Thanks for sharing!
I got some this past winter and fished them open water. They are solid. Cant wait for them to arrive stateside! I did a review on them earlier this year. Great baits!
Really never deliberately fished a day for walleye, had some of these with me did similar technique while buddies trolled worm harnesses, I caught several without previous experience. This fits my hunt the fish personality
Killer video man, looks like you had a really good time. I’m super excited for them to release. Well unless you all have an extra one I could try before. Haha worth a shot. Well keep up the good fishing 🎣
Check out the Acme line of lures. Acme carries all the classics that have always worked. They are also in production and on shelves. Fisherman are funny with lures, this lure is completely repeatable and has been used for 15-20 years. This technique isn't new by any means, but the videos of Tom, Dick, and Harry finally catching on it are.
ACME has some awesome fish-catchers too! I fish with several of their baits a ton. No matter what brand or model…every single one of these style of baits may look similar, but they all have a time and place where they REALLY shine (ex: shallower, deeper, weeds, sand, cold water versus cool/warm/hot water, aggressive fish, funky cold-front fish, the list goes on). All of these style of baits catch fish, but when used for their specific qualities you can absolutely catch more fish that day the you otherwise would. Thanks much for watching and hope you enjoyed the video! Sincerely, Harry
I bought some of these last winter from a vendor in Europe. Love them....bigger profile less weight. From the info I found seems they are marketing them more so for open water. I got mine just after walleye ended last winter so I'm excited to try it the up coming hard water season. Just gotta make sure I save one. Lol
It's crazy that some people think those jigging rap style baits only work in 70degree + water. They are one of the top ice lures of all time! Just slow down.
I just got the exact same one, thanks to the incredible team of Tri-Omf, the rep team of Rapala here. Now we'll see if the Canadian walleyes have the same "tastes" as the ones from USA ....
Nice video, I just grabbed two of these online at a local Canadian tackle dealer and super pumped to try them out for some Walleye next week. Even got them 15% off talk about a deal 😅
What?! I can buy something in a store north of the 49th parallel and you can't? I'm sorry, Brett, but this makes me happy. So often I can't get something up here or I must pay a premium to get my hands on it. I was going to buy some just because there's no hook to cut off the nose for open water fishing, but now maybe I'll buy some and trade them for time on a boat in MI or WI. 😁
They were just CRUSHING them! I thought the fish were suckers at first cuz I had thrown a few different baits in there without getting bit, then tried a cast with this thing and first cast it was on. I’ll never forget it! 👊
lol real funny and now I need that lure! Lunkerhunt has a few similar lures. One that is amazing is the " True bait". It is very heavy so awesome if you want to jig in a strong current.
I watched your video when it came out....I live in central Ont Canada...I admittedly went out and searched for them....I found them...got them all...but... i can't find the one you have...apparently I do have them all...my perch one is just a little different then yours....going out this weekend to give them a shit...tight lines
How does this lure fair in a river current like downstream from a dam where one would wade in to fish walleye? It's always nice to have one extra club in the bag for when it's nessesary.
Hey Thomas! I'd say it completely depends on how much current there is. This is designed to be slower falling and gliding. If the current is slow, or you're fishing in slack water, it'd be worth a try. Nice thing is you can even pick up your cadence slightly and keep it off bottom and out of snags, and it falls just slow enough they'll hit it mid-water column as it hangs. If the current is faster, there's going to be better, heavier options out there. Hope you have an awesome summer! 👊
Thx man! Hope to be a lot more active on here going forward. Right now it was doing well at 40’ but I’ve only had the MEGA Live on the water a couple times now and am still dialing it in. I get my settings better each time. I have friends who are seeing their jerkbaits out past 80’ so I have some tweaking to do with my setup still.
I just checked, and couldn't find that exact lure. Even Rapala doesn't seem to have it on their website. They have a similar one called "Nordic Perch" but most of the head is orange and the tail is orange too instead of red. Where did you get that????
Yo! I was able to get a few from a buddy that works at Rapala. They’re already available across the border in Canada, but sounds like they will be coming to the US this fall.
@@TargetWalleye I checked at Cabela's, Canadian Tire, SAIL, and Ecotone and it's not there. It's not right to keep your "buddy-working-at-Rapala" for yourself! That’s Fin Gear’s Live Scan Pole Mount. I love it. SUPER beefy, easy to swing in and out, and lock in place at whatever angle you want. I have it mounted on a Cisco base and it's not going anywhere, unless I want it to haha. Here’s their site: www.fingear.com/products/fin-gear-live-scan-pole-mount They’re pretty spendy. But I tried a couple different cheaper options before hand and ended up breaking both…so should have just got this one in the first place. Only real complaint is they don't collapse down as low-pro as some others I have seen when not in use (only really an issue if you are up in shallow slop pitching and flipping for bass and don't want it out) but I'd rather have a beefy pole that can handle the trolling motor on 10 when searching, scrambling, or trolling.
I do always run one with these style of baits. I feel they give the bait better action as that rounded-bottom on the VMC Crankbait Snap basically acts like a loop knot. Then of course I also run it because I'm constantly switching out colors and sizes when fishing minnow profile baits.
Hey Gary, thanks for watching! It’s a FIN GEAR Live Scan Pole Mount. Not cheap but it has worked great and is super beefy! Honestly that’s one bait in the lineup I really haven’t played with much. From what I’ve heard and read, I’d say this new Jigging Shadow Rap is for shallow, the Snap Rap mid depth, and then Jigging Rap when they get on deeper main-lake structure. Then of course the heaviest Flat Jig for ultra deep water or in current. All of them have slightly different actions and shine in different situations.
