She makes you feel you are hearing music for the first time. I also admire that she lived her life her way. Performed where she wanted and refused to fit into someone else's demands. She knew who she was. An amazing presence. Even though she has crossed over she is still with us, inspiring us. What a Wonderful World.
There is no gimmick, no overindulgence for the sake of grandstanding. Just the pure flow of a voice that never sounds strained or even close to its edge. This is the first time I have heard her. But not the last.
she had a purpose in her life , to show case her musical talent, she did not have fame or wealth in her lifetime, but she left a legacy of music and beauty that will last forever, look at all the material she left behind, knowing she was ill , she kept recording , what an inspiration, this was the last song she performed before she died in 1996, she had to be carried on stage to perform
She and Frank Sinatra, the best ever at phrasing, emotional and harmonic noting and singing/interpretation I’ve ever heard...plus at varied musical genres.
@Hermosa Rosa Blanca There’s active methods that require outer or inner work but her music is a result of her work (and talent). It’s just sheer perfection, just sit back and listen (I call that a lazy method)
Casual Dreamer i heard about her though a colledge friend i read her book very sad she was old in her early thirties when she passed about 30 yesrs agon
Casual Dreamer ever since I heard her voice on radio in UK, fell in love with the beauty that came through the air waves. The perfect tone in her voice is a delight to listen to and she puts her heart and soul into each song.
I truly pray that this beautiful song will once more describe of this world, RIP All who we lost and will lose during the COVID 19 pandemic . My heart is with their families.
I work for the nhs, I pray for all the families that have had their loved 1s taken away 💔 no one should have to say goodbye to their loved ones with not being there to hold them while dying. Absolutely heartbreaking. I pray that 2022 will get better 🙏 xx
I am a fan of Eva. My own personal belief is that she was connected to the future. In her song over the rainbow I think her spirit knew what was coming and she gave us that once in a lifetime experience that could only come from raw talent. Empathy and a connection to the future and the past. Bless you Eva and we are so thankful to have shared your path with us!
I was reading a book called 'moon rise' and they referenced Eva and her last song, so I came to listen to it and I was blessed by her voice. Rest in peace Eva your songs will live on forever❤❤❤❤
Lyrics: I see trees of green Red roses too I see them bloom For me and you And I think to myself What a wonderful world I see skies of blue And clouds of white The bright blessed day The dark sacred night And I think to myself What a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow So pretty in the sky Are also on the faces Of people passing by I see friends shaking hands Saying, "How do you do?" They're really saying I love you I hear babies cry I watch them grow They'll learn much more Than I'll ever know And I think to myself What a wonderful world Yes, I think to myself What a wonderful world
I've lived my entire life, less than an hour away from where Eva grew up, and lived. I would have loved to have had the chance to meet her. It's so sad. RIP Eva.
Per the "SONGBIRD" book, (700) fans had come to The Bayou in Georgetown, MD on September 17, 1996 for Eva's Musical Tribute, and according to Chris Biondo, from the time Eva was helped on stage, up unto the next ten minutes when she finished singing "Wonderful World," it was the most surreal experience of his life as everyone focused their love and attention on to Eva. He said she sang the song well, and that she still had the great Eva stuff and didn't miss a beat during the song. He said it was like a great, bittersweet ending to a movie, and he knew it had made Eva happy. It was to be the last song Eva sang and played publicly. She died Nov. 02, 1996.
Eva sings so heavenly beautiful "What A Wonderful World" like an angel! Eva made it a wonderful world and shared her God given talents with her Eva fans!❤️🎸😇😍😊
I read that this was the last song she sang in her final concert singing for her family, close friends and dear fans before her demise. It indeed is a wonderful world....
A true Angel that will always be in the hearts of everyone who had ever had the joy of listening to her amazing voice, gone but never forgotten 👼 I first heard her voice at my sisters funeral with her song Over The Rainbow 👼😔
Lolly Pop Yes, her last song at the Blues Ally. She looked and sang awesome. She died two weeks later. She reaches us from Heaven when we're at our lowest and fills us w/fields of gold and a beautiful rainbow lit sky above restoring our faith true beauty surrounds us always. We need only open our eyes. She was one of a kind...
You're correct Lolly. I believe it was at a benefit concert that her friends put together to help her pay her medical bills. The story I've heard is that her body by that time was wracked with pain so she was fairly well sedated with pain killers and they had to carry her up to the mic, but when the time came, it is said, she belted out her finest performance of What a Wonderful World. Every time I hear this song I cry like a baby. It says a lot about the kind of person Eva Cassidy was; the fact that she chose What a Wonderful World for her final song.
I have loved Eva's voice since I first heard her on Radio New Zealand about 2001. Her voice is so sincere, clear and beautiful. Her covers are way better than the originals e.g. Fields of Gold, Song bird, Over the Rainbow, Autumn Leaves. She makes the song her own in beautiful way. And, boy can she sing Gospel and Jazz. Sad the world lost her so soon. I will never tire of listening to Eva.
Any time I hear Eva sing any song, I automatically slow down, stop what I am doing and listen intently. Usually at least a wet eye or two as the song ends. I wish I got tuned into her earlier than I did. My bad,.. I only discovered this gal with the golden voice a few years after she passed away. Recorded her versions of " Somewhere over the Rainbow " and " Fields of Gold " without knowing who she was, only that she was special,..very special. Retired shortly thereafter and had the time to investigate. Better late than never, but at least I recognized her greatness the very first time I heard her sing. Rest in peace Eva !
Eva Cassidy was an exquisitely original lyrical interpreter who graced poetic concepts and musical notes with a wondrous, indeed, supernal vocal magnificence that marks her place in that special pantheon of American cultural contributions that rightfully deserve reverence.
Will Ruha The creative decisions she made regarding melody and timing are magnificent. She was able to maintain the essence of a song but totally, and I mean totally make it her own. A very rare gift she had. I usually don't like when singers go off on the melody and change things, but Eva does it so tastefully and interestingly that it's a joy. And that voice...I hear other artists in there, Taylor Dayne, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Joplin. But her voice is simply perfection.
I see trees that are green, red roses too I watch them bloom for me and you And I think to myself, what a wonderful world I hear babies cry, I watch them grow They'll learn much more, than I'll ever know And I think to myself, ohh what a wonderful world The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of the people passing by I see friends shaking hands, saying, "how do you do?" But they're really saying, "I love you" I see trees that are green and red roses too I watch them bloom for me and you And I think to myself, oh what a wonderful world The colours of the rainbow, so pretty in the sky Are also on the faces of the people passing by I see friends shaking hands, saying, "how do you do?" But they're really saying, "I love you I see trees that are green and red roses too I watch them bloom for me and you And I think to myself, oh what a wonderful world I think to myself, ooh what a wonderful world
I've been listening to Eva for years. Found Nora Jones, then I hear Somewhere Over The Rainbow, What a wonderful world and OVER THE RAINBOW ARE JUST BEAUTIFUL. She left to soon. I listen to her almost every day.
she simply...captivated me with her voice and spirit. They way she made lyrics standout. Smooth, calming passion. ..would've loved to just gotten to know her!
As I go through bone marrow treatment or another hospitalization, I always play her..its like Valium, even Staff comes in,asking who has this amazing voice ? ...... ty Eva, I will see ya upstairs....
LET YOUR EYES SEE THE BEAUTY IN THIS WORLD .....CLOSE THEM TO THE UGLINESS....LOVE IS WHAT MAKES THIS WORLD CONTINUE TO GO ROUND.....RIP SWEET ANGEL EVA.....LOVE BOB S. FOX
Louis Armstrong would be envious with this beautiful cover. Eva made every song her own I love this woman for her joy and her talent that she shared in her short life Very beautiful
She was put here to share her lovely soul, the divine beauty of her talents, and her awesome inspiration with those of us who are so blessed to hear and recognize the message God put into this amazing human being! A short time on earth but an eternity of inspiration, faith, and love. Thank you Eva!
my dear friend Martha Mahoney played her while i visited her. I am so grateful. love her music and her beautiful soul that shines through. my dear friend Martha passed from cancer too.
I was an avid listener to Terry Wogan and remember the first time he played one of Eva's songs it could have been songbird or fields of gold her voice took my breath away such a voice taken away so young . I chose Fields of Gold as one of the songs at my Wife's funeral 3 months ago and chose Over the Rainbow played today at her remembrance service today at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. Derek Bullock Bassingbourn Cambs. 10th June 2023
I have been listening to Eva for 10 years now. Each time I play just one of her songs I cry like BABY. It is like she wanted to move people with her voice. Boy does she.
It was my son's birthday the other day. He would have been 35. He passed away a little over 15 years ago. I remember when my son was in grade school, 0:00 and they had the end-of-the-year program. This song was played. I remember it like yesterday. My son was in the middle of the group, and they were sitting on the floor Indian style. I miss him so much!
What an amazing, talented young woman. A voice for the ages, in so many genres, that brings shivers and sometimes a tear. Wish I had heard her sing years ago, and I tell others to listen to her music. It should not be missed. Eva had a very special something, and a happy, tender heart. Listen to the 18 minutes about her life. Thank you, Eva.
Pure talent, class, beauty, poise, power, control, balance. Few recording artists will ever have half of those attributes, yet she had them all in abundance. She never abused her talent, she never abused her gift, she never abused her body. She was taken from the world way too early from skin Cancer. I wonder just how many amazing pieces she would of recorded - had she of still been with us. I always get mixed emotions when I listen to one of her tracks, but my eyes always fill with tears. And then I look for another one of here pieces and listen some more. There is a famous incident of Ozzy Osbourne driving home and Over the rainbow came on the radio and he'd never heard it before. He pulled over into a layby and burst into tears. The next day, he went to the record shop and brought two copies. One for his wife, one for him.
To my Dear Eva you left us too soon. I will miss your Smile, Walks in the Park and you belting out your tunes as we walked down the path. You held hands and comforted me in times of need. Though we never met in person your voice rings in my Soul. At age 35 I know what good music is. God Bless You my Dear until we meet again on a chord of love!
I love you Eva!!! Although you are now in Spirit, your spirit still lives on. Forever in my heart. Will always be the #1 female vocalist of all time in my eyes
Im 70 now. I thought I knew of every female vocalist of this level of talent. Oh what a wonderful world, I just found Eva today .

I try to share her videos to all my contacts🤗
Eva is a heavenly gift!🦋☝️
My dad use to sing this to me when I was a baby but changed it to what a beautiful girl😄❤🌼love you dad and Eva of course. Very blessed.
She makes you feel you are hearing music for the first time. I also admire that she lived her life her way. Performed where she wanted and refused to fit into someone else's demands. She knew who she was. An amazing presence. Even though she has crossed over she is still with us, inspiring us. What a Wonderful World.

I can't listen to any Eva Cassidy song and not wind up with a tear or two.....so sad such a talent was taken from us far too soon.
Gone too soon!
Yes...soo true.. this is a tear jerker
Im there too my friend .
I just bawl.....and I am not someone who cries easily. She just yanks my emotional chain and tears just fall.
As if anybody with a soul can listen to her voice and not shed a tear..... ❤️
There is no gimmick, no overindulgence for the sake of grandstanding. Just the pure flow of a voice that never sounds strained or even close to its edge. This is the first time I have heard her. But not the last.

If you want a lazy method to touch the Divine: listen to Eva Cassidy.
BEAUTIFUL POETRY!!

@Hermosa Rosa Blanca There’s active methods that require outer or inner work but her music is a result of her work (and talent). It’s just sheer perfection, just sit back and listen (I call that a lazy method)
@Hermosa Rosa Blanca relatively lazy. It’s with a happy wink of the eye
NEVER HEARD THIS SONG LIKE THIS. EVA GIVES YOU A WHOLE NEW MEANING FROM DEEP DOWN IN YOUR HEART AND SOUL. AWESOME.
I just heard this, and didn't know who Eva was. I'm sorry to hear she is no longer with us. Her voice is gentle , smooth and just warms my soul.

Casual Dreamer ever since I heard her voice on radio in UK, fell in love with the beauty that came through the air waves. The perfect tone in her voice is a delight to listen to and she puts her heart and soul into each song.
She’s still with us. She will never grow old, never feel anymore pain, and her voice will never fade away.🥺💔
Just listen to her voice, she's still with us...

Just sent it to my 17-year-old daughter.
Timeless. As was Mr. Armstrong's cover way back when.
What a beautiful voice, she re-invents every song and makes it her own. RIP Eva.
It's like she's dancing on each beautiful note.
The voice of an Angel. You feel every word.
SUBLIME...ETHEREAL...ENTHRALLING!!! 🌺🌺🌺
almost 2 decades since her passing and my heartstrings plucked when i listen to her and her music
She has a beautiful and most expressive voice.
I am a fan of Eva. My own personal belief is that she was connected to the future. Eva, you were an Angel here on earth. The world will miss you and your sweet voice. Now you’re in heaven leading the choir.

Rest in Peace EVA ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Best strong and most natural voice I have ever had the honour to have heard
Ooh God, why did you have to take such a beautiful voice away from us? I have tears running down my cheeks just listening to her wonderful voice.
Hawkertempest1 I think God took this beautiful lady because she was to good for this world that we live in rest in love Eva
From a comment above by Leslie K. Hogue, "Maybe it is more normal to have tears than to pretend they don't exist."
He didn’t take her from us, he gave her to us, for awhile.
AMEN! I agree with all my heart and soul.
satan took her not God . God gave her to us . He gives good things
Lyrics:
I see trees of green
Red roses too
I see them bloom
For me and you
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
I see skies of blue
And clouds of white
The bright blessed day
The dark sacred night
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
The colors of the rainbow
So pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces
Of people passing by
I see friends shaking hands
Saying, "How do you do?"
They're really saying
I love you
I hear babies cry
I watch them grow
They'll learn much more
Than I'll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world
Yes, I think to myself
What a wonderful world
I've lived my entire life, less than an hour away from where Eva grew up, and lived. I would have loved to have had the chance to meet her. It's so sad. RIP Eva.
All of you do so well to find words. I can only find tears. God bless you all.

Actually her last song sang in public was "The Anniversary Song".

ONLY COLDHEARTED heartless ppl would thumbs-down this beautiful songstress who sings like an angel & died at 33 of cancer...
