      What would cause it to do this, bad spark plug or just bad coil pack? I’m trying to figure out if it’s should replace the spark plug also or just the coil pack. Thanks for the video

    EXCELLENT VIDEO! Clear, succinct, to-the-point explanation of what is being done, the reasons why, and the steps of exactly how it's done. Steady camera work, unlike most others in the auto diy field. Very pleasant, professional narration, too. Thanks for your great work.

    I just fixed my nissan 2004 nissan sentr 2.5. Car was running on 3 cylinders at times and i got the worst code you can get the CAT po420. Dealer wanted $1000. If you got the codes above or even the po420 CAT. just replace all 4 coils and the spark plugs yourself. araparts.com has all 4 coils for $95!!!! Don't get ripped off by the dealer, everyone should know this.

      Michael, I bought an entire set of ignition coils for my 6 cylinder Nissan Maxima for a mere $80 at Amazon. They were shipped in 2 days. This price wasn't for the boots only, but new ignition coils. I wonder how long they'll last. One year will be enough as the replacement labor was not a big deal.

    Dude I just wanna say thank you. You made me look like a fucking bad ass last night. My sisters 2009 Altima was throwing misfire code on 3, same hesitating symptoms. I originally was watching your spark plug video but in the comments lead me to this video. I did exactly this. Went out and got me a scanner, switched the coils around, and wouldn’t you know it the code changed to the cylinder I moved the faulty coil to. Upon closer inspection of it I could tell right away where it burnt out. Fixed this shit in 5 minutes. Thanks my dude. I owe you lunch my guy.

    I have had to learn a lot over a short time and I've binged on dozens of videos to figure things out. I can say for sure that your video is well paced (some videos I have to slow down to keep up with) and you show as much as you say. I have heard the word coil pack dozens of times but yours was the first video that made the simple point of taking out the coil - I previously thought it was more like a copper wire wrapped thing. So , yeah - thanks very much, liked and subscribed.

    Very well done. I've heard it said that Nissan is the Ford of Japan. I'm beginning to believe that. For your after-market boots to be of a better design than oem is a clue right there. Also, My dad used to have an 03 Nissan Sentra and replacing the $800 engine computer....it fixed a bad code and an intermittent stall he was having . For the longest time, I said it can't be the brain box because this is a Nissan....they are high quality, they just don't go bad like a Chevy but replacing it fixed the problem in the end. What's with Nissan?

      Only problem I have had is one of the front brakes.

    • @paulingersoll9197
      @paulingersoll9197 7 років тому +1

      P0300 means random misfire, but P0316 means random misfire in first 1000 revolutions first few minutes. If you don't have P0316, just P0300, it means you are failing on multiple cylinders when the car is in closed loop control, so more likely a sensor (crankshaft position sensor, oxygen sensor, maybe MAF sensor).

    One wonders why a pin-hole like this just appears and causes the misfire. I went to the autoparts store to replace mine and it also had the pin-hole allowing the arc and misfire. The parts store had two version of the ignition coil - one was $59 with one year warranty and the other $69 with lifetime warranty. One also wonders why this is. PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE.

      He troubleshooted the problem exactly the way it should have been done: He tested the faulty part in each cylinder and got the same error code each time the part was moved to a different cylinder. Since the part was the only variable, it was the part that was faulty. Great video and done professionally and scientifically!

      @@DIYtime I will take the car back to the mechanic that replaced all 6 spark plugs. He thinks it is probably the transmission shudder. No engine lights come on, and now my cruise control doesn't work.

    i just deleated the P0305 code with a cheap code reader. then i fixed with a motorsystem cleaner by LiMoly and then used a catalytic cleaner by Motull. after 200-300 Km code never came back and i can go full throttle again. just fill the motor cleaner in the tank (50liter max), drive until its almost empty. then fill catalytic cleaner in the tank (30-40liter) and drive. thats it. i couldnt believe it. i read this tip at a amazon recommendation. i swear by god it worked 🖖 my car is a mercedes w203 c320 6 cylinder gasoline engine

    2007 Nissan Frontier As far as the P03030, that's OBDII and I retired not long after it came out but I'll take your word for it, bad cylinder #3. If a coil and plug didn't fix it, you got a bad valve, cylinder damage, bad compression ring(s) or possibly a bad intake manifold gasket. Nissan frontier 2007 gets P03030 3 Cilinder missfire, that's OBDII it, bad cylinder #3. If a coil and plug didn't fix it, you got a bad valve, cylinder damage, bad compression ring(s) or possibly a bad intake manifold gasket
    Temachok what is your take on this??? burning a lot of oil...cil 3 misfire...

    Your video is great. Right to the point. My boot had the same pin hole burn mark that yours showed. The only part that I found inconclusive was using a OBD II scanner to reset the error codes does not show any misfire immediately when the ignition coil is swapped until car driven several miles. The car misfired immediately after the swap. Replacing the coil with the burn mark fixed the problem. How did you get the errror code to appear immedtately after the swap?

  • @TedBruckner
    @TedBruckner 5 років тому +2

    If you just replaced the plugs and wires , most times a cylinder misfire is the ignition coil; they cost about 57 $.

    • @ricebike
      @ricebike 4 роки тому

      in his case it was the wire or more specifically the coil ignition boot for these coil-over-spark-plug systems

    I know this video is kinda old.. but I need some help. My Altima 2005 2.5 has been hesitating a lot at low RPMs. I'll replace the coil packs no problem however what I really thing is the problem is that the 3rd spark plug is extremely hard to take out. Any ideas on getting the sucker out? I really don't want to break anything

  • @stevenA44

    My 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 started running rough the other day. I ordered 4 brand new coils and they came in this evening. I'm going to install them in the morning along with the crankshaft sensor because it was throwing a code. However, the car never gave any codes for the coils, but I figured the needed replaced when I found oil in the spark plug wells. I replaces the plugs with new ones and replaced the valve cover gasket. I am going to replace the actual valve cover with a new one in the next week or two, just can't afford it right now because I have bought all the other parts, including a new fuel pump because the fuel gage doesn't work and I figured that built in filter might need to be changed as well. The person I got the car from did some minor upkeep on it but didn't check any of the things I've been replacing. I had to replace the radiator around the first of the year because the old one had a crack in the top. Also had to have the alternator rebuilt. I'm hoping that replacing the coils will fix the rough running. It's doing exactly like you described and around the same RPMs. I didn't check the coils to see how they looked. I should have. I will when I change them out tomorrow. Thanks for making the video.

    Looking at this video I think anyone who is getting cylinder misfire on a 2.5 Altima you should also check the negative cable in your battery. This is a common for people who are doing thru coils a lot. There is a TSB for the negative battery cable that corrodes and breaks away
    It is grounded in two places and both need to be grounded properly or you will continue to eat thru coils

  • @orinmangar2333

    I would change all the spark plugs because the car has over 106000 miles. The spark plug was firing from the ceramic and possibly caused damage to the coil booth.
