    Really like the theory, but nah fook Celestia, Khaenri'ah rulers might've deserve it but turning every single human into hillichurls just because they were Khaenrians is a big no no for me. (Plus Hillichurls exist for more then 6000 year's [their first appearance in webcomic], Celestia been doing this for decades. Not to mention they threaten Orobashi to destroy Watatsumi island if he didn't kill himself and them trying to destroy knowledge about their alien origin's)

      Agreeed Celestia in and of itself is very sus too, I’d love to hear their side of the conflict cause I agree - if the leaders of Khaenri’ah were questionable I’m not sure the civilians deserved that kind of punishment either 😭 I plan to cover Celestia’s side of this as well!

      If they just killed the leaders, there would undoubtedly be uprisings against Celestia, they probably wiped them out in order to make it MUCH harder to go against Celestia. You have to remember that due to the destruction of Khaenri'ah, the hilichurl-ifcation of the people, the curses on the military, the Abyss order has had to spend 500 years rebuilding their militia with what they have left and with what they remember. Celestia succeeded with their plans, but it would have worked better if they had just gone for extermination rather than cursing the nation. We don't know why they didn't just go for the kill instead.

      The transformation into hilichurls is basically genocide with extra steps:
      It was perpetrated against all members of a single cultural group (Khaenri'ahns) including *innocents, especially children*
      Anyone who didn't know the skills to survive in the harsh wilds would've died. So most of the kids and normal, innocent civilians. As for the survivors and their descendants, there had to be some point in time *before* researchers like the Musk family saw them for actual people with society and culture. Before them, hilichurls were (and still mostly are) seen as just simple monsters of the cataclysm to be extrrminated. How many hilichurls do we, as players, kill in a single game session?

  • @petiteange08
    @petiteange08 Рік тому +582

    Personally, I also subscribe to the theory that Khaenri'ah is not an innocent party in the Cataclysm 500 years ago. Not saying that Celestia is good, it's clearly bad to make people into hilichurls and kill the civilians for the sin of their government and destroy multiple civilisations. I just think they may both be not that great.
    One of the thing that's strange to me is Makoto's death. The land of Inazuma was overwhelmed with monsters 500 years ago, and her response to this was to go to Khaenri'ah. Is Khaenri'ah behind the monsters? I don't know but it's just weird. Then, she died from a battle in Khaenri'ah. Personally I don't believe she went with the intention to fight, otherwise she would have sent Ei. So why was there a battle? Did Celestia force her to fight? Or did the people of Khaenri'ah attack her first?
    Another thing that supports my hypothesis that both Celestia and Khaenri'ah are not entirely good or evil is the Fatui. They seem to be evil at first glance, with Il Dottore doing human experiments and the delusions in Inazuma for example. However, the soldiers we've meet so far seem to think that they are working for a good cause. I believe that hoyoverse does not want to make things simple black or white. Each faction will have their own reasons for their actions.

      @Minsleif  Рік тому +74

      Right! It seems like these responses from the various organizations / entities we’ve seen are reactive to “something.” I really want to do an analysis on what I believed happened in the last moments of Khaenri’ah, so I’ll probably do that after I cover Celestia’s side of things! Then a breakdown of what we know happened during the Cataclysm! 🥰 this was so incredibly well put I love your comment!

      This is an underrated comment. I too believe that Khaenri’ah is not innocent in this. But I think that what the gods did was a little over the top.
      The Fatui aren’t as bad as the fandom sees them. I think that they have their reasons too.
      Overall this comment is really well written and it makes a lot of sense. I heard a theory saying that Lumine was the one who made Khaenri’ah and I think this is true. I don’t know if this is based off of that theory or anything but I think the lore behind this game is INSANE. I can tell that this must have taken many many years to finish. I can’t wait to find out more!!

    • @TheGameRuler
      @TheGameRuler Рік тому +38

      In the lore tabs for the monsters, the Abyss Wolves specifically, it's revealed that Khaenri'ah DID actually create some of the monsters of the Abyss, the Dragon that attacked Monstadt that had the poisonous blood that affected Dvalin 500 years in the past is one such creation of Khaenri'ah as well.
      It's heavily implied that Khaenri'ah was planning a large scale invasion covering the seven nations for along time with use of Monsters and Machines, indiscriminately attacking civilians, soldiers and deitic beings.
      Makoto also implies that not all the Gods like Celestia either as she found a way outside the Heavenly Principles to create the Inazuman Sakura Tree. Which makes Khaenri'ah's overall targeting of the Gods as bad as Celestia's overall targeting of Khaenri'ahns. This implies directly that both sides of the conflict were extremes already and neither were in the right at all. (hell Khaenri'ah didn't even care about helping Enkanomiya before Orobashi, merely wanted to steal their stuff when they learned they were preparing to leave everything behind.)
      As for the Fatui, it's hinted in artifacts that the the ability to gain power freely easily lures the selfish and the dangerous. But that doesn't mean all Fatui are evil. Some genuinely believe are helping other nations and aren't afraid to try and mingle with others. But others as we have seen have a "holy'er than thou" attitude and are actually down right evil. Some of the Harbingers aren't really evil either, but there'sa considerable amount that are quite agressive or mean to their own people. Indicating the Fatui are gathering all sorts of people into their organization... that said... I wonder how they are handling the reports on the Traveler?
      In one moment we are kicking their asses but in another we end up saving some of their own... and lets be honest, us wielding more and more elemental powers without a gadget or vision or anything HAS to have caught their attention by now since we are amassing power.

    About Kaeya's quote about Khaenriah, in the chinese (original) version of this quote, Kaeya don't call Khaenriah's peoples as 'sinners' but say they are 'deemed as sinners' by Teyvat.. which mean something totally different. He also sound super sad and defeated when saying this quote in chinese.. not petty like in the english version.. so it would mean that while Kaeya don't like the Abyss Order, he don't consider "Khaenriah'" as a whole as bad.

  • @TheGameRuler
    @TheGameRuler Рік тому +265

    I believe Makoto, Ei's sister, shines some interesting light on the topic of Khaenri'ah. She said that the Gods have tolerated them for a long time, but they had recentely done something where the Gods could no longer ignore them.
    And it's left implied that this is what caused the Cataclysm, to which Abyss monsters attacked all of Teyvat and the Archons mobilized to Khaenri'ah. In some of the abyss monsters lore tabs, the wolves specifically, it's implied that Khaenri'ah have been experimenting witht he Abyss for a good while so some monsters existed before the Cataclysm already, specially since the wolves were the vanguard off the attack.
    All of this is important as it means the Gods were well aware of them and did nothing for a long time, and if the accounts are accurate, it means that the attack on all of the seven nations during the Cataclysm, happened either around the same time or just before the Gods descended on Khaenri'ah.
    Which raises an observation... and a question
    The Observation: Khaenri'ah had amassed an army of monsters and machines capable of fighting the seven nations before the Cataclysm, meaning they were well prepared NOT to defend. But to invade.
    The Question: What did Khaenri'ah do that justified the Archons no longer ignoring them moments prior to the Cataclysm?

    • @mitab1
      @mitab1 Рік тому +36

      Probably the archons went to khaenri'ah to stop the problem from the source and maybe the archons were losing the battle, so Celestia Sent the sustainer of the heavenly principals to solo khaenri'ah, but that's just a theory

    • @theamargot5219
      @theamargot5219 Рік тому +19

      Tbh i believe that Khanriah actually managed to kill some gods such as the previous Dendro archon and maybe Makoto. Ppl theorize that Celestia struck them down but if that the case,why didnt the other Archons like the Dendro Archon and Makoto join in and fight after the first one got killed as an example? It would make sence that not all of them got killed by Celestia but by Khanriah.

    • @TheGameRuler
      @TheGameRuler Рік тому +29

      @@theamargot5219 We have no evidence they were struck down by Celestia at all (the Gods at the time).
      I'll be frank, we don't know what was at the heart of everything. Dainslief said it was because the Gods saw Khaenri'ah as a weed in their perfect garden, but as mentioned by Makoto, it wasn't the reason why they attacked: Khaenri'ah did something to provoke it after several years of tolerating it... and quite possibly a few thousand years of tolerating them.

    • @jadecoolness101
      @jadecoolness101 Рік тому +16

      I mean... If Khaenri'ah was attacked, it'd make sense for their monsters to leak out. We don't know which came first. The monsters wandering Teyvat, or Khaenri'ah being attacked.
      Whoever struck first is important.
      Even in Khaenri'ah WAS making entirely "Too many" monsters... It evidently wasn't enough, because the gods were still able to wipe them out. Meaning that this amount of monsters wasn't even enough to defend, much less invade.
      Khaenri'ah lived under constant threat from gods merely existing, and made weapons to also have power. Only difference between Khaenri'ah and other nations is that the other nation's power is concentrated in their archon and controlled by Celestia.
      We know that Khaenri'ah wasn't entirely innocent, given Rhinedotters big oopsie, but I doubt they were worse than Celestia or deserved what Celestia sent them.

      Dainsleif implies they were an aggressive nation when he talks about the ruin guardians. These machines were built to loot the lands of the other nations because the Khaenri’ans had no intention to work the land like normal humans.

    My thoughts since the sumeru archon quest have been that:
    Celestia = right motive, bad execution
    Khanariah = found the truth
    Fatui = good intentions, wrong motive, also bad methods
    Breaking it down to be more spoilery:
    Khanariah finds knowledge that is true, but forbidden
    Celestia tried to shut it down by whatever means necessary
    Fatui knows celestia is hiding something BUT if they were to uncover it, it may trigger another situation of corrupted forbidden knowledge
    Only problem is I think all 3 used an "ends justify the means", but even if their terrible acts DID justify their goals - only one can be actually in the right

    Here’s what I think about Khaenriah: we know they have no god and that they were very technologically advanced. Some abandoned journals and papers near the door to Khaenriah hint to them learning about other worldly technology. Also, Mona is covered in the Khaenrian star and she uses sigils from Khaenriah in her charged attacks. She has the ability to look into the stars, and see other nigh skies. In a lot of Khaenrian outfits, there’s a galaxy pattern (Dainsleif’s cape and paimon’s as well as abyss Heralds). So they probably knew a lot about the stars and were able to look into space basically. They were probably able to see through Celestia’s lies (the fake sky). In that same journal near the door, they say “…We waged war against the forces from beyond the sky (Celestial perhaps), yet we were rejected by the laws of this world and tormented by an unjust curse…” I have a theory that they were able to find out about the unknown god and/or the secrets of Celestia in general, like how the “Heavenly Principles” came to Tevat and basically colonized it. They took the power from the dragons of sovereign. The unknown god is the “keeper” of the heavenly principles and was obviously threatened by the Khaenrians because of their abilities to find the truth. Also, Khaenriah was not ruled by a god, another “law” they probably broke that threatened the rule of the heavenly principles.
    If you look at the video genshin released in 2020 that was basically a teaser for the main story quest (the one with Lumine where is shows her running during the cataclysm and traveling with a ruin guard), you can see the destruction of Khaenriah was inflicted by those dark cubes. The same ones that the Unknown god uses to take away our sibling. Also, we learn that some archons died during the cataclysm like Rukkhadevata and Raiden’s sister Makoto and we know that the cataclysm affected all nations because of the monsters. The archons probably didn’t care at all that khaenriah was godless, which is why some went to Khaenriah to defend it, resulting in some archon’s deaths. There has also been some archons that have expressed their dislike for Celestia and the heavenly principles, like Venti and Zhongli. The reason why Zhongli couldn’t tell us anything about our sibling is because he made a contract with Celestia. So the Archons did not cause the Cataclysm, but Khaenrians and our sibling don’t know that. They associate the Archons with Celestia so they assume they were on board with the destruction. Honestly, if the traveler just asked one of the Archons is they were responsible for Khaenriahs destruction, they’d probably say “Hell nah 🗣️” 💀💀
    But yeah that’s my theory. I pieced it together bc they the answer is basically right in front of us. Idk tell me what yall think.

    Awesome video! I’ve always been cautious of Kahnrhia, maybe because I’ve become very attached to the archons we’ve met so far (and my personal hope that they didn’t do any wrong). I think this situation is not cut and dry, one side is good and one is evil. I’m certain there’s wrong doings on all sides. Though, I’m very cautious of putting any trust in Kahnrhia yet. Especially because everything to do with them also has a lot of abyss things going on, and that’s major red flags to me.

    Great video! I never knew that info about Dain being transmuted with Ouroboros (or i may have forgotten haha)
    I'm so glad to find many fellow players here who think BOTH Khaenriah and Celestia are sus, and not just Celestia. I never thought Khaenrians deserved their curse, but I also don't think all of them were innocent. The most sus for me are Rhinedottir/Gold and, of course, the last rulers of the Eclipse Dynasty. Considering Pierro of the Harbingers tried to stop his people in the past, I believe they just went too far. Which led to the cataclysm.
    Ruin Guards and the like had been made even before the cataclysm---some were stored in Guizhong's domain because she wanted to study them. And Guizhong died in the _Archon War._
    P.S. I'm a fan of Wei too, so I'm going to subscribe to your channel and your theories. :D

If the monsters are people of Khaenriah, then doesnt that mean they are already cursed before the gods went to Khaenriah?? Khaenri'ah created the abyss monsters and war machines to attack the 7 nation and Celestia said hold my bear and turned them into abyss monsters themselves, and from the giant ruin gourd in sumeru you know that teyvat was on fire during those times, so I think Celestia saw that khaenri'ahan people have the same ideology as their leaders so they said fuck it all of you bitches are monsters now

    The Tiara of Frost's description says: "Every mighty and ancient city and every austere place of sacrifice must one day return to profundity in the earth. All prosperity must someday end. But this does not mean that nothing is eternal. At the end of a cycle, the earth shall be renewed. Thus eternity is cyclical. The search for truth is a product of prosperity, not the seed that plants it." Basically, under Celestia's rule, when the time is up for one civilization, another one will rise up from its ashes. From Khaenriah's perspective, Celestia has the power to control the ultimate fate of a civilization, and perhaps the Khaenrian kings believed that by unifying Teyvat once more, they could oppose their fate and grant everyone the chance of everlasting prosperity. However, the gods of Celestia are similar to the Herrschers of the Honkaiverse - destroying civilizations when they reach their peak and thus 'resetting' civilizations is their ultimate goal. I think that neither side is particularly right or wrong about their viewpoints. The CN translation of Heavenly Principles is 'natural order' so what the Fatui are doing is literally trying to rewrite the natural laws of Teyvat.

    There is an anime called "Sakasama no Patema" (Sakasama means upside down).
    In this anime, the earth's gravitation has been flipped for some people so they fall toward the sky (let's call them upside-down people). The main character met an upside-downed girl, set on an adventure to find out what actually happened to the gravity, only to discovered that he is the one who was upside-down the whole time, the other girl is right side up.
    I think if the "Teyvat is upside down" theory is correct, then it must be a reference to that anime. And judging by the fact that MHV puts reference everywhere in this game, this theory is quite possible.

    I see everyone's concern with Celestia being good is mostly the curse put on the Khaenri'ah people. I am surly very off on this one, but I guess it wouldn't be impossible for the curse to originate from Khaenri'ahns themselves, even just by accident? 1) We've only ever heard it from Dein iirc and nothing proves that he's being honest to us. 2) Khaenri'ah had shady people working for them at the time. Like Gold, if I am not mistaken, took part in the war by at least attacking Mondstadt with Durin. She even let her dragon son eat her human prototype son, doesn't sound like the kind of people who would second guess potentially high risk experiments for potential high rewards.

    I feel like Khaenriah is the biggest movement against Celestia, and had a very huge reach and influence just like the Fatui right now. The archons and gods are leaders who give their people something to keep them dormant and prevent rebellions as big as Khaenriah which sees the cruelty of the limits set upon Teyvat. The unification can be the equalization of gods and regular humans alike by giving them alchemy. Alice and Mona practice the art of Astrology which might end up being what causes the downfall of Celestia and is the Fatui's next target. The Fatui have been trying to advance like Khaenriah but instead of drawing from the leylines and using alchemy they plan to use the combined power of the gods that Celestia tried to weaponize as prison guards, but their downfall is that they're led by the Tsaritsa, a god who (in my theory) was made to limit her people. The limits will get lifted if they learn how to read the stars as Mona does to see the fates of people and the gods and potentially avoid them. The strongest made up the 7 and they would be who the people wanted to depend on and in times of war, nobody can overpower one or the other. Vision bearers keep their nations micromanaged like how Yelan and Eula are strong enough to handle skirmishers on their own and even investigate. Delusions are the actual derivations of power from gods while visions are from celestia to fill a role and keep eachother in check, even the archons themselves.
    My point is, Khaenriah was once led by a god which (in support of the orouboros theory) probably was slain by his people and had the power of time (which can probably relate to astrology) which lead the sustainer to go down and handle Khaenriah herself instead of setting down a nail.

    I’ve seen somewhere that it’s possible that Khaenri'ahns were the ones responsible for Sal Terrae’s death. Them going around and killing Gods could have been what motivated Celestia to shut them down.
    Also about Humans trying to create/replicate a God, I think that’s what the sages in Sumerian we’re trying to do with their old Dendro archon. However, they failed and created Kusanali.

    Great vid! Well laid out, especially for folks not particularly familiar with the finer details. The Ouroboros-Dainsleif theory is particularly curious.
    I did have a question, though. Did anyone ever claim that Khaenri'ah was destroyed without provocation, or is that just an assumption some have made? I recognize that Dainsleif's attitude might imply that, but I always felt that his demeanor was that of someone who was defending having done something "wrong/bad" behind the justification that someone else did something "wrong/bad" deserving first. A "I wouldn't have had to do X if you hadn't done Y" kind of thing. Projection, in other words. Celestia definitely seems like it's not innocent, but I agree that Khaenri'ah might've gone a bit too far.

      It seems like an assumption! Especially after the 2.6 Archon Quest, we were really made to feel for Dainsleif and what happened to the Khaenri’ahns. AND YES I’m glad you pointed this out, because according to his Prophecy - Dainsleif is evidently guilty of smth “what is that strand of blond hair to you? Something you must k!ll or the object of your penitence.”

      @@Minsleif Gotcha, gotcha, makes sense. Interesting! You also got the gears turning in my head, I had no idea Khaenri'ah meant "wind betrayers." Given "The Thousand Winds" is another name for Time/Istaroth, now I'm wondering if part of Khaenri'ah's smiting is that they didn't seek just to topple Celestia, but ALL forms of divinity. That also feeds into my other theory that Paimon is Istaroth, but Guoba-fied. If that's the case, perhaps whatever happened 500 years ago is why Paimon/Istaroth lost her memory and power. A bit out there, I know, but it's always fun to speculate. XD

      @@effortlessfury YES the paimon = Ishtaroth theories go so hard 😭😭 there’s a good amount of evidence to back that one up too!! And it does seem like Khaenri’ah tried assert some kind of agenda, and it’s wild cause people assumed ruin guards where present in places to “protect ruins.” But I honestly think they were there for other sus reasons 😭😭
